"Hello stranger. Are you family? Since I do not lie prone for sleeping, a bed is unnecessary. I will stand in the corner when I need to revivify. ****."
Retroactively, we will say that Rando was an initiate from a previous testing session, but also hasn't begun formal training. If you would like to come up with another reason, feel free. Sorry wasn't prepared for the random entrance. Rando also has 5 platinum to spend on supplies.
You have a day to explore the city or otherwise do what you like. Tomorrow night, you can meet with Yuri for a job, if you choose. There is also a lost cat poster and probably other gigs to be found if you are looking.
Oh hey my liquidy friend! I'm Rando the Randomized, Illusionist extraordinaire. I thought I was here to perform a show for the College, but I guess the job has changed. No matter though. Rando flashes a beaming smile.
Hopefully I can get some time in the library. I hear they have extensive volumes on illusionary magic. I hope to be the best illusionist in history some day. With a flourish of his hands a replica of Oox forms next to Rando, sprouts legs, and starts to dance. He flashes some jazz hands and does a little shuffle ball change. Ta da!
Tink is it? I don't sleep much either, so I guess we'll both be burning the midnight oil.
As a side note, being an initiate or acolyte at the The Pantheistic College of Celestian is not a dedication to the priesthood. While some do go on to be priest, people of many other vocations are also trained. The furtherance of exploration is worship in itself. It is also doctrine that all other good aligned gods are aspects of Celestian (whether or not those gods and their followers would agree.).
Jobs lined up through the College require a tithing (10%) of the eventual profit or payment.
Tink will follow around Oox and Rando at this point, because he hopes it will lead to family. Could I please buy tinkering materials? How much would that cost?
"Welcome Rando. It is my honor to see you join our corps of Celestian's merciful mercenaries! Perhaps with your abilities, there will be so many Oox as to create confusion among those who would attempt to oppress us!"
*Oox doesn't need to buy anything at this time, but will take the new crew out for a meal as a gesture of solidarity, following any shopping.*
Oox tells everyone about its past during the meal:
"I was part of a Plasmoid starcaravan tent revival show that visited planets, spread the word of Celestian, performed healings, and hoped to add more constituted members to their amorphous constituency.
"My mentor Flimpz discovered that I was not robbing the guests at their healing services, and finding that I was inadequately industrious for a Plasmoid. Flimpz expelled me from the caravan, giving me only these weapons and this armor from the traveling security carriage.
"I then set out to find Celestian on my own. In my own way. I will touch the face of the Star Wanderer so that we might better this universe as one.
"I believe this Yuri character is sent by Celestian to light our way... I hope you will join me in exploring the path."
"Well Oox, that is an interesting tale for sure. I've not met any individual like you before. Not even the friendliest sea cucumber or jellyfish can top you. I'm sure between your divine skills and my entertaining distractions we can definitely cook up some trouble for those oppressors."
"I myself don't know much about the oppressors you talk about. My adventures started far far away from here in the city of Atlantaria. It is one of the great underwater metropolises...metropoli...big cities many worlds from here. I made a good career as a stage performer and stage technician, but wanted to know more. I heard rumors about The Rock of Bral and yearned to explore the untapped magical energies that permeated this asteroid city."
"Thought I had signed up to perform a showcase of my illusions here at the College, but it would appear that my invitation was for something else. So I guess we'll have to see how much help I'll be in...well doing whatever it is that we're here to do."
11 o'clock at night, three curious figures angle their way through the city of Bral to the corner of Wasp and Galleon Streets.
A crystalline tower overlooks the surrounding buildings glowing a soft light. Twisting upward it unfurls like flower petals. Spelljammer ships dock at the tip of petals' curl.
As they watch, an elven Star Moth is released and undulates before flying into the sky.
People are moving all through terminal lobby of the tower.
Rando sees a tall humanoid with a fox face wearing a long coat and hat matching the grey it's fur. It slowly approaches the party.
"I'm glad you came." says the fox. "And you brought a friend! Hi, am Yuri.", he waves. "Come with me".
He points up at the tower, "That is the Sindiath Line. You can catch a ship to anywhere in known wildspace there... but that is not where we are going".
Yuri leads the characters to side street behind the tower. He pulls a pry bar out from his coat and promptly pops a manhole in the street.
A blast of bad air hits you. Yuri pulls out a red handkerchief, folds in diagonally, and ties it around his nose and mouth. He take 3 more red handkerchiefs from his coat and hands them to each of you.
Those of you who put the scarf on over your nose and mouth notice the smell becomes much less offensive. The stench isn't really noticeable unless you are paying attention.
He climbs down the hand holds gouged out of the tunnel wall. Yuri heads off down the tunnel.
Fifty two paces later, Yuri stops. Random seeming graffiti covers the walls. Yuri gestures at the wall and slot opens. A line of light shines up and down his body, and the wall pops back and slides aside. Yuri heads off in that direction.
Everyone please make an Investigation skill check.
Forty five minutes of climbing and descending winding tunnels, you come to a door.
Yuri makes another gesture. A peep hole opens, and soon after the door. 30 tough looking humanoids of all species are lounging around. Each of them has a red bandana across their face, (or faces in the case of the large Ettin sitting by himself). No one speaks.
After a few minutes of standing around, one figure in all black indescript clothes stands. It is medium height and wears a black mesh mask that obscures its face. Unlike the others, its red bandana is tied around its neck. It walks up to a wall another hidden door opens to a different tunnel.
If at any point in this up until now, if your character wants to bail, they can. It might take a few survival checks, but you would make it back before dawn.
For those continuing, where do you want to be in the line of humanoids walking through the tunnel?

"Hey fox individual...sorry I didn't catch your name...When all of this is done can you show me the blueprints for the hidden doors? I don't need a layout of the secret lair...that would be silly. I'm interested in the mechanics of those doors. They might come in handy for a future show."

Rando is certain that the graffiti on multiple separate parts of the wall, the small pile of rocks, and some scrape marks on the ground are a hidden message. You don't know what it means, but you think you may have heard of something called Thieves' Cant used to pass message this way.
Also, you notice he has two tails under his long coat.
"Yuri is my name. As for the passages, the instructions are in Bralian. There are different dialects depending on which organization you are part of. This one requires a specific rune drawn in the air and this", he pulls a red enameled medallion from under his shirt. "As for who built them and how, I do not know".
As Tink doesn't breathe, poisonous gases you may encounter have no affect. At least until it is caustic enough to corrode your metal.
After the Simulation Deck, you got all your spells and limited abilities back after and had a night of rest. You are good to go.
When you get to the second door, Yuri pulls Tink aside and whispers, "You need to put on the bandana before you can enter. It is the custom to not show your face, or reveal your everyday identity... and red is kinda our color".

Let me know if there is something you want to buy.
I am going to shift us forward to tomorrow afternoon.
The meeting with Yuri is at 11pm.

Please let me know after your discussion who will be coming so I can plan accordingly.
Tink will follow around Oox and Rando at this point, because he hopes it will lead to family. Could I please buy tinkering materials? How much would that cost?
Sure. 5 gold. It should cover most things you want to tinker with. If you are trying to do something big it would take specific ingredients.

On the way to the meal, Tink picks up the tinker's material.

I am granting Tink Darkvision 60 feet. Your creator sprung for upgraded ocular modules.
Rando will put the handkerchief on.

To combat the smell, Tink's metal mask (kind of like Optimus Prime), closes over his mouth and nose.
Did we take a long rest before we arrived at the corner then?

Just testing this as I didn't notice there was a dice roller built in :)
