Peren's attack on the Vault Servant is both surgical and devastating. The armor crumples to the ground, the empty-eyed skull rolling off to the side with a soft rattle as the elf makes a run up the spiral stairs to get at Korm, who is having a pretty hard time escaping from Gavin and Kathra up on the catwalk surrounding the upper reaches of the spell engine.
Mirabel looks up at the fighting on the catwalk and unleashes another line of lightning, this time towards Korm. However, maybe due to the proximity to the Spell Engine, the dragonborn's attack arcs down from its intended course, almost as if by some arcane magnetism, slamming directly into the side of the titanic arcane stone structure. As the spell's energy is confronted and then absorbed by the stone, things really start to go wild. The low omnipresent hum of the Spell Engine becomes an almost painful whine. Arcs of multi-color energy crackle off the black stone, some burning through the metal plates, causing molten slag to fall to the ground below. Others arc wildly around the room in a dangerous display.
((I'm going to need Dex saves from the group. Then Mub and what's left of the monsters will take their turns before Kathra finishes the round.))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kathra's dex save: 15 (rolling with advantage because I get advantage on dex saves for stuff I can see coming - I'm assuming I can see something bad is happening)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Most of you manage to avoid the strange arcs of multi-colors arcane energy. Gavin, however, is not so lucky. An errant bolt swerves to hit the war-priest directly in the chest, lighting him up like a bonfire.
Damage: 18 untyped damage.
As the flash fades, Gavin's form appears to blur, becoming ethereal in the chaos around him. His screams seem distant, almost otherworldly at he dissipates into the space around him like a sun-burned fog on a summer's morning.
For Gavin:
As you are struck by the energy of the Spell Engine you feel yourself burn. The power coursing through you activating every nerve and every bit of you vibrates in a chaotic orgy of motion and pain. The world around you fades, and, fortunately, so does the pain. The dark world around you now begins to populate with pinpricks of light. An unending star-field of motion where time seems to have no meaning. Everything is now. Everything was then. Everything is what will be.
((At the end of the round as part of the wrap-up, I'll post more.))
As for Korm, the remaining enemy:
Korm, eyes wild with a crazed urgency, screams as a bolt of energy nearly collides with his large, bloodied form. "No! It's too much! Too soon! The ring is not in place!" Disengaging with Kathra, he turns from the catwalk and tries to run across the overcharged Spell Engine towards the giant skull, ring in hand. He doesn't get very far. A few steps in several arcs of energy collide with Korm, his flesh turning to glass, his body morphing into strange animalistic shapes, his screams becoming almost like a painful music before his twitching form collapses on the gigantic skull, drawing the arcs of power to meet with the object directly. The ring in his hand destroyed by the power, he weeps. "Master Orlung forgive me!" And then he bursts into a column of fire burning its way up to the ceiling of the large cavern.
The skull lifts from its resting place on the Spell Engine, not just by the arcane arcs of power or the column of flame beneath and around it, but almost as if by its own volition. The remains of Korm warp and knit to form disembodied hands that hover around the flame.
Kathra looks up at the floating skull and the hands that were formerly Korm and makes a decision that she dislikes intensely.
She turns around and heads back down the stairs, away from the Spell Engine. "Run! We can't fight whatever that is on the Spell Engine, and we've already lost Gavin. Hopefully it'll follow us down."
Orlung, the Returned is currently undamaged and directly on the Spell Engine.
The Adolescent Storm Seal near the ground is undamaged.
The Storm Seals schooling near the top of the cavern are now adjusting to the new column of arcane fire that has suddenly sprung up.
Gavin is....elsewhere.
Kathra is in a tactical retreat from the cat-walk down the spiral stairs to the ground below.
Peren is about halfway up that same spiral stair.
Mirabel is on the ground with Mub.
For Gavin:
You have drifted this astral sea for seconds....or maybe eons. You've seen stars born and die in the blink of an eye in the silence of a timeless void. Suddenly, a red star near you bursts into the shape of a knight holding a flaming sword, the symbol of Tempus. "Servant of the War Father, I greet you. How is it you cave come to this place?"
Gavin, confused about what just happened to him is still in a fog when the knight appears and speaks to him. The familiar symbol of Tempus brings focus back into his mind and snaps him out of his daze, somewhat.
“Greetings. I was battling my enemies when something exploded and sent me here. I need to get back to my world(?), my friends need me. Who are you and how do you know I serve Tempus? Where am I? Are you able to help me?” He catches himself wanting to ask a thousand questions but pauses to see what response he receives. Gavin is unsure if this is friend or foe but does his best to put on his strong and stoic face. Inside he is feeling very uneasy and confused.
You hear what sounds like a chuckle emanate from under the blood-red helm of the armored figure. "Do you not recognize the Red Knight, exarch of our Lord, oh child of War? Your foe must have been great indeed to cast you this far into the Astral Sea. Likely the same demigod on the cusp of birth I was sent to confront." The Red Knight points her flaming sword towards a cloud of fiery chaos and multi-color energy that twists and churns like a malignant tumor in the otherwise clear sparkling void of the Astral Sea. "I can feel its energies about you. It is an affront to the divine order. How did it come about?"
((Feel free to respond as needed. You're in a timeless void after all, most if not all of this will basically happen over the course of this round.))
Peren will follow kathra and go over to where Mirabel and Mub are standing and say “this is not good, Gavin disappeared ” He will then ready his rapier and will strike any enemy that comes near
Not really, though you are guessing that whatever this "Orlung" was before now, being a giant skull for a while combined with whatever the heck is happening might have altered it quite a bit.
((Feel free to also act if you so choose.))

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
Gavin, realizing who is before him, kneels out of respect. “The Red Lady” he whispers, “Forgive me, I am...I was...confused. You honor me with your presence and words”
He does his best to explain recent events while being equally confused and in awe. Speaking too fast and nervously, “My companions and were investigating strange occurrences near the dwarves town of Rockmount. We came across a Goliath mage in a cave trying to repair what he called a ‘spell engine’. He had constructs helping him repair it, and there is a group of storm seals over the engine, apparently attracted to its power. It has a large skull of some beast on top and four orbs, one at each corner. Each with a piece of this material in it (shows her my spell stone). When we realized he was doing so with evil intent, he attacked us. During the battle, the spell engine engulfed me with some kind of arcane energy and sent me here. He said he serves his master, Orlug. But I don’t know who that is. My friends are still there in battle when I was sent here. Can you help me get back there? I swear I will vanquish Orlug and his minions, with your blessing. Any insight you could grant me on how to defeat him and destroy the spell engine will be returned with eternal gratitude.”
Gavin rises, looks at the Red Knight with devoted eyes “How may I best serve Tempus, and you today?”
The Red Knight takes in your information with a tactical measure, her intelligent eyes appraising the Seree stone. "I do not know of this Orlung, but the spell engines of the Seree are not unfamiliar to me. It has been ages since one has been active. An untapped engine would easily have enough power to accomplish what I see before me. But this...." she says, motioning to the morphing cloud of fire, "...this is unstable; unfinished. We are lucky to have been granted this window to act." The Red Knight straightens, imperious before you. "Until it breaches whole into the Astral Sea, I cannot act against it. However, divine providence has brought you here to be my sword in the material plane. Gavin, servant of the Foehammer, I will send you with my blessing and a measure of my power to finish the fight you and your friends have begun, as Tempus wills."
With that, the Red Lady points her sword at you and a gout of radiant fire slams into you, hurtling you towards the malignant mass of evil like a burning comet.
((I'll post more for you at the end of the round wrap-up, but until then look over a new spell you have acquired called "Blessing of the Red Knight." You may use it once. Use it wisely.))
