Seizing Spike, the Giant pulls the dwarf from his body. Even after taking damage from Spike's porcupine armor, and Spike struggling, the Giant throws Spike, at Essendrum.

A mystic shield glows briefly in the path of the flying dwarf but slows him only slightly. The wizard has the wind knocked out of him but manages to remain standing. He feels a nasty soreness that could be a cracked rib, something his academic life has not prepared him for, and looks down to see circles of blood on his robes. Even in pain he sees the geometric pattern of the dots and observes that they form a somewhat elongated mirror image of Spike’s armor. Only then does he return his attention to the weave of his mind altering magic on the giant who headed West. Finding the threads of the weave slipping away he quickly tightens them, averting tragedy!
(OOC: Scott pointed out the DC is HALF damage or 10, so he keeps his concentration!)
”Good catch!” exclaims Spike appreciatively as the mage cushions his landing (2 damage taken thanks to rage DR, I think Concentration check should be vs. DC 10).
”Yer not gettin’ away that easy!” he snarls at the giant, rushing up to engage him once more. This time he stabs and slashes with his spikes but does not try and grapple, as that was a spectacular failure.
