Kalhala is a bit surprised at the scene as it unfolds in front of him. It was a far cry from what it was less than an hour ago when they all arrived. He finds the instigator straight away and makes his way over to him.
Kal sidles right up to the man, towering over him using all his height for intimidation and glowers at him. "If you don't stop this sh*t, not only will you be the last one out of the museum, you can stick around and clean up after this mob. And before you say anything, I will be making sure this happens. It would be my pleasure." he grins in a maniacal way that makes him look seriously crazy.
Cuervo - The door opens and you find an unlit office behind it. With your darkvision you see a dwarven man sitting behind the desk with his feet resting on it, arms crossed over his chest, snoring loudly as he naps.
Kalhala - The crowd quiets and you feel all eyes on you and the man. He looks at you and then the crowd gathered around and scoffs, "Prove it man bun." An ethereal flame alights upon the man and his deep red skin begins to take on a white hot hue.
Lash is with Cuervo but happy to let them take lead. He will just be a step back and do his best to make sure he looks annoyed and angry and ready to stop any who try to flee…
Kalhala holds his stare as long as he can. Then he busts out laughing, literally doubles over and puts his hand on the fire genasi's shoulder as he does. When he finally gains his composure, "Man bun? haha yeah, I suppose I do have one of those." He wipes a tear from his face, letting go of the man's shoulder.
Breathing out a whooo of air, "Look, someone almost died upstairs...." Kalhala becomes immediately somber, "The man is a good man and well, we got the person responsible, so no one is in danger but we need to process everyone, could you help us out?"
Cuervo & Lash - The man startles and falls out of his chair. "Wha? Who?" His eyes widen when sees you and he suddenly scrambles beneath the desk. As he does so you are gifted with a glimpse of his hairy backside peeking out of his sagging pants and partially untucked uniform shirt. "Intruders! Intruders in the security office! Where's my damned sending stone!? HELP! ARMED INTRUDERS IN THE SECURITY OFFICE!"
Kalhala - The man steps back and he shrieks, "DON'T TOUCH ME-" but stops with a confused look on his face as you laugh. The flames around him sputter out and his skin color returns to its deep red hue. Several people gasp when you mention someone nearly dying but no one else acts out after you say you caught the person responsible and no one is in danger. The man looks around again, then puffs up his chest with an attempt at a smug look on his face, "Pfft, all talk just like I figured." Though you can see relief plainly written on the man's features. He turns and waves a shaky hand dismissively, "Get to work then if you aren't going to step up." The security officer from before then calls out, "Alright everyone, please form a line here and here." You see the genasi quickly step over to the other line and as he goes, you hear another fire genasi next to him say, "Dang, that dude had you shook bro!" The man turns to his friend and says, "Nah nah, it's just the adrenaline making me all shaky... I was ready to kick that heifer's ass. I just gotta go do some push ups or something..." Order seems restored to the process now and you experience no more interruptions as the guests are processed out of the museum.
"Shut up, ya maroon!" Lash says with a dramatic eyeroll. "If we were the badguys your throat would already be slit. Everyone is too busy to come rescue your nap anyway 'cause there's been real bad guys and you have some answering to do!"
"Most your guards are doing crowd control after someone broke into the amulet room and almost killed a guard. We stopped it. You're welcome. Now tell us every damn thing you know about the security around the amulet, how it was maybe bypassed and how the hell you keep your job when everyone knows you sleep through it."
Kalhala - The security officers manage to process the rest of the guests out of the museum without further issue. They both approach and thank you for your help afterward. One is a dwarven woman, the other a young half-elf man who looks barely old enough to work.
Lash - Keghammer peeks out from under the desk with a scowl, "What? What in the nine hells are you talking about? I'd have heard something on my sending stone..." You see him fiddling with a small stone for a bit before he mumbles, "Must've ran outta charges or somethin'..." He groans as he climbs out from under the desk and stands. He has long ginger hair that grows along the perimeter of his skull, but not on top, though a few wisps are combed across. His eyes are bloodshot and his uniform stained and ruffled. You smell his boozy body odor and likely actual booze as well. He makes a half-assed attempt to tuck in his shirt and puffs out his chest, sending a shirt button pinging off your forehead as it gives way. Keghammer clears his throat and says, "You can't come in here, this area is off limits to guests! C'mon, I'll escort you out of the museum. If you comply you might be able to visit again some time, but not if you keep callin' me names and such." He stomps out of the office with unlaced boots and stops in the security break room, "What? Where is everyone? Off slacking I bet! Ooooh, I'll have their hides for this heh heh."
"No, no problem at all. You don't need to thank me!" Kalhala beams at the thanks from the two security guards. He gives the young one a look over, but decides not to say anything about his youth. But does ask, "Are you all that there are for security guards here? Seems a bit light for such a grand place. Is that typical? And what about overnight?"
Cuervo shook her head at the dwarve's antics. "If we were intruders, I wouldn't have woken you up, I'd have let you sleep...or worst. We're here to investigate the disappearance of Lady Elara's exhibit. Plus we've dealt with a murderer on the premises - a task that should have fallen to the security detail. So, you have a choice. Help us by answering every question truthfully and co-operating fully. Or leave the room and let us investigate for ourselves. And when, or even if, you find your sending stone, you can verify everything I have just told you."
“He’s probably in on the theft,” Lash says to Cuervo. “Watch, he’ll get indignant and angry and refuse to cooperate in any way. He probably gave up secrets for a bottle of booze… or ‘cause he was too drunk to even realize.”
Kalhala - The dwarven woman smiles and offers her hand, "Name's Katrin. There IS need to thank you, that idiot would've made for a lot more trouble if you hadn't set him straight. No, there's usually about eight of us on site during business hours." She holds up her sending stone, "Sounds like the rest are putting out fires elsewhere at the moment." The young man pipes up, "Keghammer's-" He stops suddenly as his voice cracks when he says the name and his pimpled face turns red. Katrin chuckles and the young man clears his throat and continues, "Keghammer's usually on overnights. Him and two other guards." Katrin scoffs and says, "Yeah, lazy bastard BEGGED Zovararax to let him fill in while he was away. Gimme a chance to prove myself... Pffft, proved us all right. Everyone knows they just take turns sleeping at night. I doubt they actually do any rounds. I don't see how something like this hasn't happened before." The young man offers with a shrug, "Probably all the protective spells and stuff." Katrin nods, "Yeah probably. Well thanks again, we'd better go see if anyone else needs help."
Cuervo and Lash - Keghammer scoffs, "Yer jokin' right? You think you're gonna tell the Head o' Security what to do? No, no, no, no siree!" At this point Sten enters the doorway to the Security Office and Keghammer says, "Sten! These two broke in and threatened me. Escort them out while I contact the Watch." Sten shakes his head and steps aside to allow Director Lankcroft space, "Mr. Keghammer, produce the logs for the security rounds the night of the Amulet's disappearance please." Keghammer's eyes widen and he says, "Wha? Logs? They're uh... They're 'round here somewheres but these folks are intruders! They threatened me!" Lankcroft says, "They're acting under the authority of my permission. Produce the logs Mr. Keghammer." Keghammer sputters and mumbles as he goes behind the desk, his uniform still rumpled and shirt mostly untucked. He opens a few drawers and rifles through them half-heartedly, "Eh, must've gotten moved or misplaced in the struggle I had with these two 'fore you showed up Director. I can get them to you in an hour if you give me some time to find them." Theroc removes his glasses and rubs the bridge of his nose then replaces them and stares at Keghammer for a moment, "You're fired." Keghammer's jaw drops and he sputters, "F-fired? You can't be serious!? I'm the victim here! They attacked me!" Director Lankcroft says, "You were not attacked. You were awoken." He points to a palm-sized disk high on the wall with arcane symbols etched onto its surface then produces a similar one from within his robes. He holds the disk out and a miniature illusion of you confronting Keghammer begins to play above it. Keghammer's face somehow reddens even more, "I... I... Was just... I have kids Director, please give me another chance!" At this point Sten scoffs, "You haven't seen those kids in years and you know it. We ALL know it. Some of us still keep in touch with Nandra, Keg." Keghammer explodes, "You jumped up little shit! I'll wring your neck!" Theroc shouts, the first time you've heard him raise his voice, "ENOUGH! Sten, please send a different officer to escort Mr. Keghammer off of the premises. Make it two officers." Sten complies and Theroc continues, "Mr. Keghammer, you have shirked even the most basic responsibilities tasked to you and allowed theft and near murder to occur under your watch. The first affects business which is a fireable offense in of itself. The second is personal, as one of my employees and someone whom I consider myself fortunate to call a friend, very nearly died." Theroc actually takes a step forward, radiating fury and shoving a finger at Keghammer, "You are very lucky you are only losing your job Mr. Keghammer." The chastised dwarf just stares at the floor and doesn't respond until two officers arrive to escort him out. As he leaves, Theroc says, "I'm sure the Watch will be in touch regarding just what happened the night of the theft. ALL that happened."
Kalhala beams at the gratitude the two security officers give him. "Where is Zovarax and when did he leave? Away? Sorry for the questions, but where did he go?" Attempting to put some clues together, he asks of the two before they head off.
Then, not wanting to keep them any longer, he checks to make sure everything appears to be in order now in the lobby, and if so, he heads back to find the others.
Kalhala - The young man pauses to answer your questions, "He's on vacation, think he said he was heading up to Derlusk in the Border Kingdoms. Got family up there or something. He left the same day the amulet got stolen, so three days ago? Yeah, three days ago."
Lash watches the exchange with narrowed eyes and a lot of suspicion. Perhaps it's part of being an ex member of the guard but he finds himself doubting everyone and questioning how much they each could have been involved in the missing amulet and thus how much of what he is watching is a show put on for the benefit of covering up what really happened.

"C'mon Keghammer, spill it. You couldn't have been as lazy and incompetent sot as you appear to be without knowing a little bit of everything that is going on around the place. If just to know when it was safe to nod off and where if nothing else. So c'mon, tell us what you know about the missing amulet... Everything you know. Or suspect," Lash demands. "If you're helpful enough you may just find yourself not so fired after all..." Lash of course has no power or influence over the man's fired status but perhaps if they are desperate enough they'll grasp at the straws he is holding out?
Huh, Kalhala thinks, is that just a coincidence? "Do you know if he left after it was stolen or before? And was Zovorax planning this vacation for quite awhile? Family is always good to go visit."
