At first, it seems to be a simple boulder. Your sword vibrates slightly with each light tap, until you hit near the center. The blade goes through, and the illusion becomes partially transparent, revealing a vaguely door-shaped hole in the boulder. Poking your head through, you find a narrow tunnel descending into darkness.
Sylnora forces out a short laugh, glancing at the others and then to the illusory entrance. "That's a bit much isn't it?" Just looking in made her feel anxious, actually down there would almost shatter her nerves. "Are we...going in? She asks nervously.
"I don't feel great about it either, Syl," Xarian smiles ruefully. "I think there will be a time we have to run away, but I don't think it's time yet. We still have no clue what is happening here, and it seems like the kind of thing that could be related to those weird groups up in Pendle."
He approaches the boulder. Ash flaps briefly just through the hidden entrance to listen, then back to Xarian's shoulder.

"If we are going in loud, I can lead, but if we are going in quiet, better Krizira and Richter first."
"I can lead," Krizira offers. Her shield in hand, she prepares to head inside, hesitating only to confirm Ash hasn't noticed anything. She too will keep her eyes peeled for anything of concern. (Perception: 14)
"I'll head up the rear then," Richter says, waiting for the others to pass through. Every now and then he checks behind them to make sure nothing is sneaking up on them.
The tunnel is narrow, forcing you to move through one at a time. Stone surrounds you as descend, the way gently sloping downward. The air feels damp as you get further in, and before long a heavy scent of decay begins to permeate the air.
Eventually you come to a three-way fork in the tunnel. The left path curves around, the middle path straight ahead, and the right path slopes down at a steeper angle. Ash's head twists back and forth, listening for movement or signs of activity...But nothing comes.
Krizira takes a quick look to see if there are any signs of recent passage in any of the directions. (Survival: 9) "Well, any thoughts? If we can't find anything to track then maybe just we'll keep left?"

Some strange leathery substance seems to be growing out of them, covering the floors/walls and spreading out from their entrances. Scattered about the floor are jagged green crystals, most of them broken. Across the way, you see another stone tunnel about the size of the one you're currently in leading deeper.
Keeping your eyes peeled for traps, you don't spot anything is you slowly wander into this cavernous space...
"Not sure what that is, but let's not touch this leathery stuff," Krizira says. She pauses, moving close but being very certain to not touch the material, and tries to figure out what it might be. (Not sure what roll, trying Nature but can adjust if needed: 22)
Krizirais very certain that whatever made this material is not something of the natural order...However, there are analogs to it. Wasps and other such insects are known to make their nests out paper pulp, which they make from chewing on raw wood, mixing with their saliva, and spitting back out. This seems to be the same kind of thing...But made of skin and flesh instead of wood.
Ash and Xarian both keep their eyes and ears peeled for any hidden ambusher as they peer into the cavern.
Unfortunately, the big man is too far back to see, and even with her Keen Hearing and Sight, Ash can't make much out, these caverns spooking her a bit.
Xarian does not yet enter the cavern. This all feels like entering the lair of some giant spider where one can become trapped like a fly. His preference would have been to retreat and try a different way, or perhaps to set the fleshy substance on fire, but he feels uncomfortable articulating this.
He remains on the edge, ready to throw a rope to anyone who needs to be pulled back out.

Xarian nods gamely and unlimbers his maul, telepathically asking Ash to stay close on his shoulder.
