"The symbol on the brooch is of the Chamber of Whitestone itself, not for a particular role or member. I think it would be given to any emissary or messenger that needed to prove they speak for, or their message is from, the leadership of Whitestone. It might be worth reporting back that someone has gone missing, but it likely isn't someone prominent. Of course they could have been carrying something important or have an important message, but I am not sure why they would have been in this area", Normont replies to Magnus still a little unsure about what it all means.
As they reach the ravine and bridge, he inspects what he can see to try and determine the bridge's likely state of repair.
When Lokilia suggests sending across someone small with a rope, he looks across and gives her a smile. "Perhaps someone tiny might do the trick?". He then waves for Amber and takes out a lightweight silk rope and his grappling hook as he waits for her to return.
"Amber should be strong enough to take the grappling hook across and perhaps wrap it around a tree. Assuming it is long enough", he adds looking across. "How far across do you all think it is?".
Investigation (to inspect the bridge): 16+5=21 (Or 8+5=13 if advantage for carpenter's tools is allowed as per Xanather's Guide to Everything? Although he doesn't have those particular on him. Obviously this is worse anyway so advantage not needed, but thought I would leave the question about Xanathar's tool advantages)
(OOC: Amber can carry 30lbs after adjusting for her being tiny, and the grappling hook and rope weigh 9lbs)
Lokilia is fine leaving the discussions about the brooch to others. Living in the mountains, a narrow bridge over a steep drop doesn't bother her much. But she does recognize the need to ensure the bridges are strong. "I can't imagine who would maintain a bridge out here. So no telling the condition. Perhaps some of us smaller folks could go first with a rope tied around us as a safety." She stops a moment, trying to estimate how far across the span might be. "We could even secure a line across once the first goes, to make it even better for the later folks."
She pulls out the 50-foot rope that she has from her pack.

Lokilia and Normont determine the span here to be about 40', Normonts investigation of the bridge indicates it is quite exceptional work with stones holding against each other to keep the structure sound....unfortunately many of the stones have cracked and broken during freezes and thaws and the entire thing is basically one misplaced step away from tumbling into the ravine.
However Amber is able to provide a simple solution by simply flying across and dropping the grappling hook behind a rock outcropping to anchor it on the other side...
"Whatever I do this side will not help the state of the other. Perhaps I should go first and shore up over there before you heavier folk cross? Unless Amber can assist me. It's not something I have tried before, but it just might work", he says pondering the idea.
(OOC: @DM - Amber has a feature called Channel Magic. The homunculus delivers a spell you cast that has a range of touch. The homunculus must be within 120 feet of you. Mending is ranged touch so Amber should be able to fix the other side right?)

( Certainly. At a minute per cubic foot your going to be here a while though.)
"Hmmm, ahhh, that information is probably more accurate than mine. Especially as I am seeing conspiracies everywhere now. Thank you Normont for the clarification." Magnus says.
When he hears the explanation from Normont about the bridge he breathes a sigh of relief, Magnus responds to Normont. "I am willing to wait however long it takes to make this bridge passable, as I know for a fact, I do not want it to fail while we are crossing it. Take whatever time you need Normont."
Lokilia sees that Amber can just fly across and attach a line. "Isn't the line a safety enough?" she asks. "I mean, it will take quite a while to do repair work. Although," she pauses, considering their situation. "I guess we're not in a rush." In the end she seems to agree with Magnus about taking time to do the work. "There must be some way for the rest of us to help though?"
“I am not suggesting repairing the bridge in its entirety, merely a bit of a patch job to ensure we make it across safely with all our gear”, Normont replies.
”Remember, we are still likely being followed, and fixing the whole bridge is beyond my skill and the tools I have with me anyway. Perhaps if we come back this way?”.
He surveys the sheer amount of work that would be needed, finding it far too daunting a prospect.
Dev is astonished to see Amber carry Normont’s grappling hook across the bridge and fasten it to the other side, like a fly carrying an apple, or a hummingbird lugging a catfish. Magic’s tremendous power to bend reality and make the impossible, possible. And then the tiefling remembers that he has his own magic too.
“I’ll cross over,” he says, his voice like a new layer of glistening snowfall, “to test it. My magic shoes will protect me if anything happens.” He sets forth across the old structure.
Lokilia watches as Dev proceeds across. "Do be careful!" she says, a tiny touch of worry in her voice. "Make sure you keep hold of the line Amber put across! That'll keep you safe if anything happens!"
"Good fellow", Normont says patting Dev on his lower back as he sets out across the bridge. "You don't mind if Amber comes with you? She is very light", he says as he asks Amber to settle on Dev's shoulder.
If Dev is ok with Amber sitting on his shoulder, he will periodically use her to deliver a little focus to Dev.
Some part of Dev bristles at this advice, a teenager being told how to act by two parent figures in the group, and a dark shade crosses his face for a moment. But while rebellion might brew in the very blood at his age, his heart can’t hold long to antagonism or strife, and in another moment, flushed slightly with the attention and support, he nods to Lokilia and Normont and, Amber on one shoulder, one hand holding the line, the other arm held out for balance, picks his way across the snow-covered path over the ravine.
"Excellent job Dev!"Lokilia shouts after he had made it across. She was ready to go, but Magnus steps up first. She will then cross after him. "Should be no problem.'

“Thank you!,” Dev shouts back, a smile splitting his face joyfully. “My magic shoes protected me. And Amber. And the rope, I guess. Do you want to borrow my shoes when you cross? Amber could maybe bring them to you.”
All being well with Magnus and Lokilia, and with Quinn set on crossing last, Normont will cross.
Prior to that, if anyone did take Dev up on his offer to wear his shoes, he would indeed instruct Amber to bring them across. He himself passes, pretty sure that magic or not, they would not fit him.
As each person crosses, Amber will stick with them to provide support. Even with Magnus so he can concentrate on crossing and not have to support himself.
Magnus crosses the bridge as quickly and safely as he can, and attempts to not look down but can't help himself admiring the view, even though his stomach lurches a bit as he looks down and out over the expanse. Thinking, I wonder what it woudl feel like to be able to fly, I am going to have to try that one of these days as I get a bit more powerful as I bet the view is gorgeous and just the feel of it would be amazing. then he chuckles, but lets wait a bit till AFTER we get across the bridge before thinking of flying as now, it would be a lot more falling than flying. Magnus will then finish crossing the bridge with a wry smile on his lips.

"This was a remarkable feat of engineering in it's time", Normont remarks about the bridge. "It is a shame no-one has serviced it in some time".
As Amber takes the grappling hook across, he takes out his tools and does what he can to shore up the cracks in the stonework.

Dev makes his way safely across without issue or too many alarming grinding sounds from the bridge....
"Well if no one want sot go next, I guess I will give it a go." Magnus says and then takes a quick breather before walking across the bridge.
Quinn will go last to make sure the rope is secure.
"Excellent job Dev!" Lokilia shouts after he had made it across. She was ready to go, but Magnus steps up first. She will then cross after him. "Should be no problem.'
