'Is that the invisible thing those folks were talking about before?' Lokilia wonders. 'I thought that went ahead of them. Is this something new?' Trying to remain cautious, her spider form keeps on with its slow movement down the stairs. She does try to keep an eye on the shimmer that she saw however. (Perception: 20)
The shimmer darts at speed over the edge and straight down the shaft, Lokilia hears the two strangers continuing their descent then....on the edge of hearing below she hears a third voice, " Turn back...zis is naht ze vay!!! Turn back before zay krawl inzide you!! They know all!", the accent is also Zemnian but sounds like an older man.
Normont listens for sounds of the newcomers receding, and if he is confident they have descended further, he will look to Dev and Quinn and motion that he too will descend. He will always try and keep a floor between himself and those from the Cerberus Assembly though.
Perception: 10+4=14
Normonts waits until the two have descended then hears the other voice from below as well.....but moments later he hears the same voice from the floor above, " Too late...too late for all..."
When Dev begins to smell a terrible odor coming from his companions, he feels the bile rise up in his throat, and the morning’s rations churning in his stomach. Fighting down the nausea, he turns to Quinn and tries silent communication. He points to his own nose, making a whisking gesture then a huge grimace, like a chef smelling spoiled meat, then turns up his palms in anxious supplication, the gestures in sequence seeming to ask, ‘Do you smell something terrible?’
The tiefling then looks over his shoulder at Normont, brings his pan-pipes to his lips, and blows an almost imperceptible melody, yellow lightning softly tracing his horns. In front of Normont, at face level, an illusion suddenly appears: a piece of dark parchment with these words written in the same yellow lightning color: “Normont! I smell something really terrible all of a sudden! Coming from you and Quinn! Sincerely, Dev”
"We need to come up with a plan, and fast. Normont what do you think we should do? Should we run or try to stay and find since we have the element of surprise?
Normont stops and reads the illusory letter from Dev, before sniffing at his armpit. He looks back at the tiefling and shrugs.
"There are all sorts of sensory illusions going on in here. I wouldn't trust anything you see on the screens, or any sounds or smells. Not sure about tactile sensation yet though, that might be the most reliable", he whispers to Dev.
As Quinn asks for a plan, his face sets with determination, "We have no choice but to carry on, we can't risk leaving Lokilia behind and we have no idea which way she went".
With that said, he carries on moving down the stairs.
(OOC: Assuming Normont can't smell it as it wasn't mentioned before that he could)
Lokilia will pause just for a moment, mainly to see what the Zemnians below do in reaction to the voice. If they don't turn back, she continues to slowly follow after them. (Perception: 12)

" Ubo?! Sind sie das?", the woman's voice echoed up.
" Nein....was ist das Ding?", The man called out.
A jet of flame shot across the void two floors down, illuminating the area momentarily, and Lokilia fancied she saw for the briefest moment a half dozen or so grey black slick-skinned forms slipping up the sides of the shaft like geckos on glass...before vanishing again as the flames stopped.
From further below the smell of burnt flesh was stronger and a hoarse Zemnian voice was calling out, " Verlasse diesen Platz!"
Dev stands still while Normont must have come back up the ramp to whisper to him and Quinn. The teenager is unable to comprehend Normont’s meaning at first. The smell! It was so real. His features remain screwed up in distaste. He knew that with his own illusions, creating a smell was beyond him. But could it really be? (Disbelieve illusion. INT save 15+2=17).
Whatever the result, the flicker of flame below pulls his attention to the companions’ immediate situation.
“Look!,” he whispers, gawking and pointing, as the flames flicker below.
Lokilia now gives the situation some thought. 'These visions are getting a bit more serious,'she thinks. And she imagines the group is probably starting to wonder where she's gotten to. But it would be nice to know more about what these others are up to without tipping their hand. So she decides to continue along, trailing them as they keep heading down.
Normont also sees the flame light up the area down the stairs.
He grips his shield tighter, adjusts his hold on his pistol nervously and then carries on descending. When he gets to the next level, still a level above the other interlopers, he will look for another screen that he might use to gather information.

Moments later a blossom of silvery darts issued from the wand the armoured man below wielded, not aimed across but upwards at an angle....

Lokilias heads down coming almost level with the floor above the combat, she sees a flicker of one of the creatures she noted before as it crawls up to the next level, where the others have gone she can't tell. The two Zemnians below have engaged with someone or something on the floor below and the man who may be Ubo is still yelling and screaming somewhere further below.

Normont sees the wand go off and moves quickly to locate a screen, as he reaches out to touch it he sees a reflection in the screen and a figure comes into view behind him and Quinn......Normont is shocked for a moment.....it could be the dark but it looks like Lord De Rolo....
When Normont stops at the screen, Dev catches up with him, says, “I’m gonna get a little closer,” then continues stealthily onwards another 30 feet or so, remembering to pull up the hood of his cloak. On the way there, he blows a soft melody on his pan pipes and another box of screens appears, which he steps into, crouching slightly so his horns don’t protrude. From this vantage point he keeps eyes and ears on the battle below.
(OOC: Stealth 19 (advantage w cloak of elvenkind) Perception 11+2=13, darkvision 60’)
Lokilia decides she doesn't really want to get too close to the combat, lest she get caught up in something. But she does try to find a position where she can best observe. (Perception: 9)
Normont spins around at the sound of Lord de Rolo's voice, looking for any sign of the Lord of Whitestone alongside the retreating form of Dev.
"Did either of you hear that? Or see the reflection in the screen?", he asks Quinn and the back of Dev quietly.
His mind replays his own comment a short while ago, about illusions. And yet, there was obviously something more going on downstairs, judging by the noise the lights.
Dev, while quietly advancing down the ramp, and before casting his illusion, turns back to Normont, makes a “just say no” gesture toward the screen, then continues with the action I posted above.

Dev- is able to make out a little more than Lokilia as the two Dwendalians are beginning to be hemmed in by a selection of figures advancing on them along the walkway below, three of the figures are dressed similarly to the mage woman and the rest are a mixture of elderly folk in rough-spun dress and a number of young children.

Normonts can hear the sounds of battle below but like Quinn and Dev he can see the figure that is clearly Lord De Rolo standing behind Quinn with a firearm at his side and dressed in a shimmering leather coat with gold trim.
" Are you certain, Normont? Do you and your companions need assistance?"
Dev, while quietly advancing down the ramp, and before casting his illusion, turns back to Normont, makes a “just say no” gesture toward the screen, then continues with the action I posted above.

Quinn will be last.
Dev continues following Normont at a distance, keeping his eyes on him while keeping ears open too.

( Yes. And see if you turn not on a screen but standing there plain as day....well, a dark shadowy day.)
