"I hoped we would find something that would lead us to the poor, captured Gray Huntsman. Are there really no clues here to where the Nameless Ones might be hiding out and keeping him? We have the paper, which might say something, or it might just be a tally of how many ingots there are. And we can't even know that unless we can figure out how to read it, if its' even more than a blank piece of paper."
The teenager grimaces. "Unless he's being held captive in the Shadowdark and that's where the Nameless Ones are? I mean, I've only heard of the Shadowdark. But if the Nameless Ones can move from, like, dimension to dimension with those rods, then... I guess it's possible?"
Dev is starting to think they've found everything they can find. No clues higher up in the rafters, or some identifying mark as to the makers of the crates?
Lokilia nods in agreement with Dev. "We should get samples. And perhaps take a peek in a couple more crates just to check." She picks another to see if she can peer inside, just trying to confirm if it also either bars or crystals like they found before.
(OOC: Remind me DM, the warehouse has the front door we came through, some loading bay doors, three dozen crates stacked in a pyramid, some blank paper and a sheet with symbols we don't recognise, some dead mimic goo and otherwise it is completely empty?)
"Whatever they need this for, I believe they chose Whitestone for a reason. Whitestone has a natural resource, also called whitestone, that can enhance magical items. Perhaps that is why they are here", Normont wonders. "Of course, that is pure speculation, with no scientific evidence to back the theory".
He waits whilst the others search, looking at the three dozen crates.
"Perhaps this is misdirection. What if the crates and their contents are not the most interesting thing? What if the crates are just stacked to conceal something in the centre of the pyramid?"
Quinn's face goes saulm, "This is why I am not a man of science. Should I try to destroy these boxes? It might slow down whatever they are trying to do."
"A good idea to check the 'middle'. Great thinking Normont!" Lokilia says, ready to try to help moving boxes. "I think unless we really know these things are dangerous, I'd rather leave them and perhaps let them think we weren't here," she says to Quinn. "I'm not sure how we would destroy them though in the first place."

(Perception: Crit! 20+2=22)
Dev scans the entire room as carefully as he can, finding nothing he is about to give up when a tiny glimmer catches his eye almost imperceptible there is a small clear gem trodden into the dirt floor near the loading doors. The crates carry no discernable marks and the wood is fir so could likely have come from anywhere within Tal'dorei or perhaps even beyond. The only things of possible interest in the rafters are a pair of abandoned swallow nests.
Lokilia nods in agreement with Dev. "We should get samples. And perhaps take a peek in a couple more crates just to check." She picks another to see if she can peer inside, just trying to confirm if it also either bars or crystals like they found before.
From the sample size the companions guess that the majority of the crates contain the metal with perhaps one in ten containing the crystals.

"I'm not sure how we would destroy them though in the first place."
Quinn begins moving crates aside to try and get to the centre of the pyramid, it takes a bit of effort and sweat but the crates are eventually moved aside.....nothing seems to be revealed but Lokilias inspections of the crates indicates that perhaps Normont was on the right track with the singular centre crate containing a fair amount of wrapped packets of green glittering powder.
"Green powder!" Lokilia says, "We should grab a sample, then get those crates back in place and get out of here." She would do what she can to help with the sample then would offer Quinn what little help she could in moving around the crates. "I guess we have that paper and these samples. We just have to figure out what they mean."
Once things are arranged, she would try to think whether the powder along with the other items triggers any memories of what these might do. (Arcana: 5)
When Lokilia suggests grabbing a sample of the green powder, Normont clears his throat.
”Or we do something bold. We take it all. It is obviously important and gives us leverage. I know it puts a target on us when they figure out we took it, but is it such a bad thing letting them know we mean business too?”.
Lokilia looks shocked. "Take all of the crates?" She isn't sure how they would carry it all. "Oh, do you mean take all the powder? If it is important then taking all of it might disrupt their plans."

An impish smile rakes Dev's features for a moment and his eyes sparkle with yellow electricity when Normont suggests taking all of the powder. The tiefling nods in agreement, baring his teeth. But his expression immediately turns back to open innocence when he notices something unexpected in the corner of his eye.
"Oh!," Dev says, cocking his head, and staring intently at the ground until what at first seemed like a little stone reveals itself to be a tiny clear gem. He walks to the loading doors, squats down and picks it up. Focusing completely on it, he turns his back to the others as they continue with moving the crates. If anyone asks him why he's not helping, he collects his wits, turns around, and holds up the piece of clear crystal. "I may have found... something?," he suggests. "It was right here. On the floor." He has no idea what it could mean, but returns to the others and offers it absently for to them to see. Absently, because, he's thinking about empty swallows' nests. Could they also be a clue? Swallows once made a nest in the crook of a tree near the Hornd shack by Mooren Lake... (Nature: 13+3=16)
Dev recalls that swallows habitually return to the same nests, generally in spring......there must be a way for the birds to get in here through the roof or eaves somewhere. It being winter now they have probably migrated south.
As no-one talks him out of his plan to take all the packets of powder, Normont starts to carefully place them in his bag.
When Dev announces he may have found something, he turns to look.
"What is it?", he asks, not being able to tell across the distance. He is happy to take it from Dev to look closer.
(OOC: How long would it take to put all the packets into the bag of holding? Assuming the powder and what Dev found is not magical as detect magic is still in play. What roll is needed?)
"What did you find Dev?" Lokilia asks as she wanders over to where Dev is looking up at the nests. "Do you see something?" She waits for his explanation and then looks up towards the rafters. "I can't fly, but I could probably get up there to look."

( A few minutes.....the green powder does not register, exactly, with the spell but Normonts original mission to Drynna had been to investigate certain materials and this is almost certainly refined Whitestone ground into residuum powder. Devs gem is not magical.)

( There are three dozen crates.)
Quinn will try to touch the two materials together to see what happens.
Other than a dull clunk sound nothing occurs.
Dev's expression falls little by little.
