As they leave Normont is deep in thought for a while, Maggie following after him and Amber still perched on his shoulder.
Eventually he looks to Lokilia, Dev and Quinn, making sure there is no-one close to overhear him.
"It seems there is still much to do to unravel these mysteries. The Nameless Ones and the table that was once a man. I have some ideas as to what we can do next, but first we should find a safe place to stay. One that we will not be expected to be at. Once we are settled, we can put our heads together and come up with a plan. Does that sound ok?".
Lokilia nods. "Where do we stay?" she asks. She keeps an eye looking about, wondering if the Nameless Ones might even now be watching them still. (Perception: 23)
“Could we stay with the pale guard? Then even if we are seen by the Nameless Ones, the guard can protect us!,” Dev suggests to Normont, his face beaming naively with what he thinks is a flawless idea.

"That's a good plan, Dev", Normont says. "Although the Nameless Ones might think we are working with them if we do that and they find out. That might escalate things", he adds thoughtfully.
"What do you think about a night or two at the Lilac Inn? It might give us a chance to talk to your artist friend again, and it is unlikely it will be on the Nameless One's list of marked locations. I expect they are watching the Pale Guard, or even have informant's in place there", he suggests a little sadly.
Lokilia nods solemnly when Normont mentions an informant. "Imagine if they had a shape-shifter in the Guard. Replacing one of their members." She says it softly, clearly worried about the idea. "We still don't know who was taken, do we?"
"Can we afford more nights at the Lilac Inn?" she asks. "It was very nice. It'd be wonderful to get a room looking out into Trinket's park."

Lokilias sees no sign of watchers concealed or otherwise in this location at least.

"I am willing to pay a share for one night at least, in order to stay safe and be able to plan our next moves", Normont replies. "You are right that it is not sustainable for me, after I made that purchase from Gilmore's".
Dev's brow raises high at the memory of the cost of a room for a single night at the Lilac Inn. As much money as his parents paid to feed the little Hornd family for a month, nearly. But as he considers the pleasing weight of his money purse, filled with gold for the first time in his life, he smiles. He could pay. And, the Lilac Inn held fond memories of their first day in Whitestone, meeting Balaran, and delicious food.
"Okay," he says, "I think that's a good idea. Let's go there."

Normont led the way once more towards the Lilac Inn located about halfway down Westwall Street its top floors overlooked Sir Trinkets Public parks, the building itself was built of very low-grade whitestone and granite and the wooden sections were fashioned of vermaloc wood giving the inn its name.
The recption hall was central and led up to a small desk next to a spiral staircase, to the left was a small bar and to the right the dining area.
A familiar looking halfling man stood atop a ladder/stool behind the desk, " Good Afternoon, Sirs and Madam. How may The Lilac Inn be of assistance?"
" Oh....it is you! Welcome back. Your usual room?"
"Hello again, Manfred", Normont replies with a smile to the halfling. "That sounds great, we'll take it".
He thinks for a moment, "Are you busy at the moment? Anyone of interest in residence?", he asks, partly out of interest and partly to see how loose Manfred's tongue is and whether he needs to be paid to keep their residence discreet.

" Not particularly busy. Oh....I wouldn't know, I do not concern myself with guests private matters.", he said with a friendly finality.
Dev knows Balaran is at the castle tonight, but still he sweeps the lobby and dining areas he can see and takes in who else is there.
There are a couple of people discussing their plans for the following days in Whitestone, being a heavyset human man in his late 50s and a small group of dwarves dressed in some sort of slate grey and crimson uniform.
As Normont speaks to the halfling at the desk and Dev looks to the dining area to the right, Lokilia decides to take a peek over towards the bar, trying to see who might be there. (Perception: 16)

"Absolutely, your guests business is their own", Normont says with a smile.
He waits to be handed the key so they can go and talk in private about what they plan to do next.
Maggie stands by him as his loyal guard dog, and Amber remains perched on his shoulder.
"Oh, and don't worry about these two, they are fully house trained", he adds with a chuckle motioning to the pair of automatons.
