Astonished and fearful of a now-unseen opponent, Dev instinctively backpedals, the musical illusion stutters to a halt, and the young bard’s head whips left and right, trying to catch sight of the bearded man. ‘Did he step through a portal?,’ he thinks, wildly. ‘No, it looked like he simply stopped being “see-able”. Is he still where he was? Or did he magically move to someplace nearby??’

"Half, Progo is half Or....Ah!" Progo preparing so the simple minded bearded man to attack him again dispite the bear being on the other side of him. All of a sudden Progo found himself face to face with the bear! Uh oh where did he go too. Progo will stare towards the ground to she if there is any indication to where the man went. (Perception 23) if Progo gets a sense of where the man is he will continue to reckless attack at him (negating the disadvantage of not being able to see him. UNLESS Progo would have to attack towards the direction of the bear, in which case Progo would try to grab the man and pull him to the ground. Progo wouldn'twant the bear to think it was the target of Progo's attack!)

Lokilia is confused for just a moment by the bearded man's sudden disappearance. Shifting from bear back to half-elf, she takes a few steps to get herself out of range, then casts Faerie Fire (DEX Save DC 13 or be outlined in violet light) centered on the spot where the man last stood.
People. So there were... those things, with the 'fingers' and their quadruped not-dogs, and also people. But they wanted nothing from him? It's true, he was the one investigating them, at first, but why then is he still here? A pet? He didn't feel like one. That is, he thought most people feed their pets. Unless... unless he was the food, and whatever is coiling inside him is the pet. Werhann shuddered. He has to get out of here before it's too late.
Werhann willed a knife into his hand. Toothed, to cut the rope with ease. If nothing else, he should at least find some food and water, perhaps find out who's out there. Then... he couldn't fix the ropes, so there wasn't really a way back once they're cut. Probably? He couldn't will weapons into his hands before, but he can do so now. Why? He didn't know. But maybe there are other things he can do now? Well, in any case, he'll need to cut himself free first, or none of that matters.
Werhann bends his wrist as much as he can to reach the ropes with the knife. He'll try to cut into them, but not all the way through, yet. He doesn't know when they'll be back. It would be bad if he were caught immediately when he's finally free. And yet, he needs to be able to make the final cut at the last moment, so he spends no time once they're gone.
If possible, Werhann tries to weaken the ropes by cutting partly through them, but not all the way yet, assuming he can get a feel of how thick they are. If he can, he'll try to cut them from below so that the cuts aren't visible, but if not, he'll just do whatever he can. Once he's satisfied, and assuming he didn't cut them all the way through by accident, he wills the knife away and awaits the next visit by his captors, hoping they won't notice his work.
Werhann was indeed able to cut through the relatively new feeling rope in such a way that it should still look solid to the casual observer.......now it was just a matter of waiting.
And wait he did.......time was hard to tell in the dark and quiet......but it must have been a day or more before the next time the bolt slid across and the door opened......but no one entered.....or at least no one that made a sound.
Suddenly an intense cold force began to force its way into his mind.....
So hungry. Werhann could just leave this spot, if he just cut the ropes and... but if they appear just at that moment, as they're bound to appear at some point, he's unlikely to get a second chance. No, he has to hold. Oh, but he's hungry. So hungry. He could eat a...
There they are. Now, he just needs to endure whatever they plan, and once they leave... Ah! What is this? It's cold, and... Whatever it is, Werhann has to resist. Once it's gone, he'll break free; he can't let them break him now, whatever it is they're trying to do. Must... push them out!
Wisdom Save: 18+1=19 (rolled on the character sheet, hope that's okay).

Progo trying to track the bearded footsteps, tries once again to throw caution to the wind wildly try to stab him one more time! (Even if the Perception check failed he will try to attack open air for the others to see him try) "Progo wasn't done demonstrating wares!"
Reckless attack to negate disadvantage again.

After combat is resolved:
"Progo is no harmed thanks to incredibly reliable shield!" Progo is clearly bleeding from multiple slashes. "Welllll maybe not unscathed but Progo would be much worse for ware without it! And could be yours for a mere 8 gp..." He looks at Lokilia again, "Progo could do 6 gp for the bear Progo thinks. Sword also good deterrent, even if you are not so good with, just waring one makes other think you can. Progo is not one to stick Progo's nose in other people's business but since thugs tried to include Progo in their shenanigans, any idea why they wanted to come after you, and mistaking Progo as well? Progo still relatively new here, haven't steped on too many toes yet." He will return to his cart, thinking they should be on their way as who knows when the bearded man may return if he even truly left. That cart was a recent acquisition from what appeared as a jumped caravan. Progo was able to restore most of the cart, except one flat spot on a wheel but Progo found it worked well as a 'brake' when parking for a bit. His last cart wasn't as nice but had it stolen a few months back, not an uncommon event for Progo. He really hadn't had much time to 'restock' out side of that caravan carnage so far.
"I'm okay Dev," Lokilia says. "Just a little injury." She looks at the orcish man. "I'm Lokilia," she adds. "Um, I think I must be the bear you are speaking of. And see? Already have a shield." She lifts the small wooden shield in her left hand. "And I have a staff. Don't need a sword." She raises the staff with her right hand. "We are really thankful for your help though. I think they were after us due to... well, meddling in their affairs."
She looks to the south, the way Dev had pointed and Progo tried to launch a final attack. "The one got away unfortunately. Should we take a quick look at the other two to see if we can learn anything? But we should get out of here." She now looks at Dev. "Any thoughts on where we should go? We might actually have a moment they're not watching us. Could be the time to try and warn the gnome?"
Quickly she moves over to the closest of the assailants, checking them out to see what they might have. (Perception: 20)

The men are both very dead but when Lokilia examines them she notes some strange about their faces....there is a seam....running along the jaw line and around the edge of the hairline. She pokes it a little and it lifts off the dead skin like a delicate membrane before immediately shrivelling to ash......the dead man now looks very different....he is much older than he appeared, almost in his sixties and covered in a network of scars that look almost surgical in nature....his facial features are also completely different.
Examining the other she sees the same seam where the membrane is adhering to the face.
In terms of equipment they carry only their blades and leather jerkins.
Some of the townsfolk are beginning to approach the scene.
" Someone call the Pale Guard!", yells a portly shopkeeper coming out of his shock at the sudden display of violence + bear.
It pained Progo not to confiscate the now discarded items of the dead men, but Progo wasn't in the business of killing people so he could sell there stuff. That was a slippery slope that doesn't end well. Progo preferred to find those discarded in places people don't look, like abandoned wagons and cleared out caverns. But he knew better then to take a dead man's belongings in town with onlookers. "That doesn't look like the man we just fought, perhaps this mystery is best left unanswered for the time being, as guards and traveling shops don't make for good business." Progo also didn't mention the fact that half orcs like himself have a hard time convincing law enforcement of self defense. "Best we lay low for a bit unless you wish guards involvement, in which case Progo must bid you farewell." Luckily he hadn't unpacked or setup his cart much yet so he starts prepping to get on the move, he could clean up the insides later.
“Wait!,” Dev says, as Progo prepares to move on. “We know why these three attacked us. It’s us they are after, not you. But with that one still alive, he’ll report back. You’re in great danger. You should stay with us.”
To Lokilia he says in a whisper as Progo preps his cart, “They seem to be a step ahead of us. They already knew where we were. And now, they’re really trying to stop us. I’m worried my plan just won’t work. Like, that they’ll be expecting something. And the bearded guy… he’ll be back soon with more creepy dead-skin-wearing thugs. I think we should call off the plan and find Normont.” His voice drops even more. “And Progo was tough in that fight. We could use him. Ever since Quinn sort of… I mean, he’s been so withdrawn. It seems like he’s having second thoughts. And I don’t blame him.”
The teenager’s mouth has been running, he realizes. He stops, takes a breath, and looks at his friend. “If you want to continue with the plan… I will. What do you think we should do?”

Hearing the call for the guard, Lokilia glances over to Dev. "Yea, we maybe should go. I'd rather let Normont handle any reporting. Explaining these Nameless Ones might take a bit of work with just anyone in the guard." She pauses a moment though, as Dev mentions the 'dead skin'. "It's strange, whatever that is on their faces. It must be how they disguise themselves, not just some innate magic. But the stuff shriveled to ash when I removed it. I'd hope to get a sample or something we could look at."
She then looks at Progo. "Oh yea. It's kind of a rough group. Maybe we shouldn't have dragged you into it. But you can see they're kind of aggressive. You should stay with us. I mean, even just for a bit until things get figured out."
What was that? No, it doesn't matter. This is his chance to leave; they didn't even latch the door! ... They didn't even latch the door?
Maybe they just closed the door but haven't left yet? What are the chances that today, of all days, they'll forget to latch the door? Werhann feels like these creatures are toying with him, and as frustrating as it is, he cannot wait any longer. He hadn't eaten, nor had a proper amount of water to drink, for far too long. And yet, before he reveals his ace in the sleeve, he holds for just a moment and listens, just in case he can hear anything at all that would indicate his captors are still in the room.
Perception: 5-1=4 (guess not then).
Unless he hears anything, Werhann finally wills the serrated knife into his hand and cuts the ropes that bind him. Having weakened them before, he hopes it doesn't take too long. Once his hand is free, Werhann will first remove the cover from his head to finally see what's around him. If he doesn't spot any immediate danger, he'll start cutting the ropes that bind the rest of his limbs to finally break free.
Once free, if there hasn't been any sign of danger yet, he struggles to rise to his feet. Weaker than he thought he'd be, and after lying down for so long, they barely hold him up. But eventually, when he's able to stand and regain his balance, Werhann lingers for just a moment more before leaving his cell. He ponders what course of action he should take in case he runs into anyone, but knowing that there are several kinds of 'someones' he can run into here, he decides to deal with it case-by-case. In the meantime, just in case, he wills a weapon into his hand. It needs to be effective, yet small enough to conceal, depending on the situation. A pistol would be nice, but it'll make too much noise. Not to mention, he wasn't sure whether he could create it or the ammo he needed. He'll have to check later. Instead, he creates a [weapon]Shortsword; short sword[\weapon], a sidearm for any other day, but the best he could think of for this situation.
He tries to conceal the blade, as best he can, and then stands by the door listening. If he doesn't see or hear any sounds of anyone approaching, he'll push the door open and quickly scan the area around him.
