Progo took one end of the rope and began carefully descending the others anchoring at the top of the slope, his heritage affording him the ability to see as he descended as there was no way to carry a light source while descending needing all his limbs free to catch himself.....
11
Progo- almost slipped a few times but managed to catch himself and after some tense moments eventually landed in a wide cavern with quite a low ceiling, looking about there were no signs of any inhabitants......numerous tunnels led off in almost every direction......the slime was still omnipresent.
“Hi Mr Progo. This is Dev. From the top of the slope. How are you. Oh by the way this is magic. My magic shoes let me do it. But anyhow, I wanted to ask if the squid is there or if it’s ok for us to come down too? You can answer by the way without saying anything out loud. Just think it. Sincerely, Dev”
The others see Dev pointing down the slope toward Progo and holding up the other hand for silence. His message makes no sound and only Progo can hear it

Progo takes the tools from Normont that were offered to him. Getting a little jolt after touching them, Progo puts on a half hearted smile and hands them back. "No worries, Progo has his own set of tools!"(Item needs attunement by an artificer so won't work for Progo I think) Progo taps a pouch he carries with his makeshift set of tools in it (Tinkerers tools). Progo wasn't sure what that tool was but he wasn't sure he wanted too after getting shocked by it!
Progo, trying to seem like his decent was completely in control, has a moment of legs kicking out, to a back arching pose to try and balance himself just before slipping out of view of the others. Now a bit more focused and not distracted by the others eyes upon him, he was able to make the rest of the way with toppling into the slime covering. Once on solid flat ground, Progo will look to find a spot to tie off the rope without letting it drag in the slime, nothing worse then try to climb a slimed slope with a slimed rope!
Progo pulls out a dagger and attempts to scraps some of the slime away from a patch on the wall. He wants to see if he can figure out a way to indicate he had been some where. He tries to scratch an arrow pointing up the slope, Progo like to indicate the way out in his markings so incase of quick retreat he could quickly follow the signs.
As he finishes his attempt to mark the wall and turns back to face his decision of which path to take first. When Dev's voice enters his head.
"This is Progo. Progo sees no squid, just alot of slippery slime covering all surfaces. Many paths to choose, small tunnels, Progo will have to crouch to enter. Entering left most tunnel from slope. (Seemly forgetting thinking continues to send message and starts singing in his head) Time for solo Progo, to go where no go, to find things used no mo...
Wait is this on? Are you still there Dev?"
Progo crouches down and draws his shield and listens to see if there is any indication of differences between the tunnels. (More/less slime, wear, noise, temp changes, air movement...)

Assuming he discovers nothing he will ho down the left most tunnel, marking it as he did before indicating the way out and that he had been there.
Normont is surprised when Progo takes the screwdriver looking tool from his hand, and is about to say something when the half-orc returns it. At that point he doesn't see the point in mentioning he wasn't giving it to him.
He waits not quite patiently as Progo descends, and also whilst Dev holds a finger up for quiet. He is eager to know what is down the tunnel. He can't even pace with all the slime and the steep incline.
Like an interpreter, Dev relays Progo’s message verbatim as it comes in, a doubtful look landing when he realizes Progo is singing to himself:
"This is Progo. Progo sees no squid, just alot of slippery slime covering all surfaces. Many paths to choose, small tunnels, Progo will have to crouch to enter. Entering left most tunnel from slope. Time for solo Progo, to go where no go, to find things used no mo...
Dev makes a face and glances around at the others. “Do you… want me to tell him anything?,” he asks quietly.
Meanwhile he sends back, “Mr Progo, this is Dev again. From the top of the slope. Yes, I can hear you. Sincerely, Dev.”
"He has to crouch when entering? I assumed the big squid was...well...big", Normont replies confused, by both that detail and also by most of the message in truth.
"Are we certain Phindis wasn't behind this?", he asks with a frown. "Surely not, right?".
"And many paths to choose. We can't leave Progo down there by himself to search an entire labyrinth. Perhaps it is enough to ensure close vicinity is safe?", he suggests, wanting the opinions of the others.
"Thinking about it, I assumed with the slimy tunnels that these squids levitated around like...well...before. It just doesn't make sense there being low tunnels for that. And why the slime? Unless it isn't the big squid down there. Could it be the pet that was mentioned? Some kind of huge burrowing slime exuding creature? Um Dev, you might want to warn Progo that that is a possibility".
"I can't say I like this." Werhann runs a finger on one of the walls, gathering some slime and rubbing it between his fingers for a moment. "If it's a whole system of caves down there, he shouldn't go alone. I'm not certain it's worth going in at all. Take it from a Dwarf: a tunnel can always keep going deeper. It could very well take days, if not longer, to search the place, if it's large enough."
He pauses to collect his thoughts. Could his firearm really be found in a place like this? But if not, he has no other leads at the moment. "We should decide whether to proceed or turn back. But if we choose to proceed, it's best we don't split off like that. Should anything put Progo in danger, with this slime all over, he'll have trouble fleeing, and we'll have trouble catching up. I say we continue, but it means we should join Progo down there." Unless anyone objects, Werhann prepares to descend, following Progo while using the rope still anchored on top to steady himself.

"Okay," Dev answers Normont. Why didn't he ever think of things like that? But Dev wastes no time ruminating and instead messages Progo again, relaying Normont's concerns. Once he's done so, he signs off:
"Maybe you should wait where you are Mr Progo. We are coming down... Sincerely, Dev."

Progo, actively trying not to sing his usual work songs in his head, continues forward. Shield in front with his eyes just peaking over as he keeps looking around for dangers or signs of life. Receiving more words in his head, he thinks, "It is OK, this is what Progo does. Progo will be fine, try other tunnel but don't get the rope slimed. Perhaps 'Werhann' knows the correct tunnel! Gotcha! I mean, uh, be wary of the slime, its rather slippery and yet sticky. Best regards, Master Merchant Progo, item recovery specialist."
Progo will continue and try to do it stealthfully.
Stealth: 13 ( even if at disadvantage) plus 3 guidance
Lokilia waits as Progo heads downward alone. She listens anxiously as Dev relays the message from below. "Do we need more rope?" Lokilia asks when Normont suggests everyone start to head down. "I have some. I'd hate for any of us to slip."

Progo heads down the tunnel, deftly picking his way over slime.....the tunnel is long and coiling but seems to be spiralling back up on itself as it slopes ever downward........he can't see, hear or smell any sign of life as yet....
Dev again relays Progo’s message verbatim although this time delaying a moment, as if ready to cut the connection if it is too… unencouraging… but the message comes through:

Werhann, who was just about to descend with the rope, pauses. "A cautious individual, then, nothing wrong with that. But alas, I've never reached this far down this tunnel. I'm afraid any help I can offer is not based on knowledge, in this case." After all, if they did come to save him, it is justified to doubt a man who ended up more or less saving himself... or something along those lines, he was still unsure. After all, the door was left open.
Werhann will then start descending the tunnel using the rope. Once down, he'll wait there to help anyone with the landing, or to catch anyone should they slip.
"Possibly", Normont replies to Lokilia, "If we can use two ropes side by side, that will speed up our escape if speed is of the essence".
Other than that, he waits to take his turn heading down the tunnel. In preparation he opens his bag as wide as it can go and places it on the floor. He then instructs Maggie to get inside, which she dutifully does.
"Dev, perhaps if Progo can relay back the shape of the tunnels down there. If they are circular, we need to worry".
Hearing how Progo might not truly believe Werhann is actually Werhann does not surprise him. Whether he used to be is another matter in his mind.
Progo, humming surprisingly upbeat in his head not sure if Dev can hear him or not, scrapes a spot on the wall and turns back and returns towards original slope. "Hmmm hmm hmFirst tunnel slopes down and seems down another level, turning back to try another option and hope to clear one level at a time. Hmmm hmm hmmm".
Once back to the many tunnel space, Progo will mark the tunnel to the right of the one he had been going down. He will start going down the next one if nobody is there with him yet.
With Normont seeming to agree with the need for more rope, Lokilia grabs the loop from her pack. "Just show me what to do with it. Seems like a better idea to have it in place just in case." She will work to get it anchored and tied into place before the group starts to head further down.
Normont will work with Lokilia to show her how to use the climbers kit to attach a second rope, ensuring it is done in a way that doesn't cause too much weight to be placed on any single component.
Immediately when he reaches the bottom, Normont looks at the labyrinth of tunnels to see if their shape is man made or more likely to have been burrowed.
