An experienced spellcaster Liam easily marks Neraks casting ( Passive Percception 15) and with a smirk releases the spell held in his hand ( Held Action).
A flickering skeletal hand appears around Neraks neck and squeezes its chill touch sapping his strength.
The unsure looking family members seem somewhat emboldened by the ease with which the interlopers are dropping and a half dozen of them begin moving forward toward the fallen Nerak and recovering Normont, the remainder mill about though they are looking towards the tall golden haired woman for guidance.
Yelling out to all the compound workers, "You heard the town guard, your masters are under arrest and they no longer have any sway over you. Get gone now or the law and the Cobalt Soul," as he pulls out his badge, "will bring you up seditious charges on you as well." He pauses a couple of hear beats, "You heard me, LEAVE THIS PLACE NOW!"
Persuasion: 21+2 (w/ Guidance) = 23
He will continue to approach the barn with the an air of authority, ignoring any of the workers that are about.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Magnus' words and his identification have two major effects, those nobles and workers who remained unsure from Jaspers statement begin to leave immediately whilst those that were moving forward or opening the containers freeze in place in terror.
The two young male half elves seem convinced he is who he says, but stand fast waiting to see what Liam does. The younger female Ocici family member looks uncertain as to what to do, she seems to be calculating things. Liam looks sideways toward the golden haired woman with a hint of uncertainty....
The effect on the golden haired woman however is instant, she switches immediately from amused and haughty to utterly deadly, " If the Cobalt are here then give no quarter as they will give none! Kill them all!"
She reaches toward Magnus, as three black bolts shriek from her hands to strike Magnus, Jasper and Quinn. She follows this with a shrill scream and a number of the large containers begin rocking back and forth as whatever is contained within struggles to respond to her call....
Normont looks up from his prone position on the floor, having felt his life leave his body, and sees Dev hunched over him. He turns his head and throws up on the floor, spits out the last of it and says, "Dev my boy. You saved me. You have my thanks".
With that he realises what is happening and gets to his feet, groaning and feeling unsteady.
"This fight is beyond us. We need help, and you need to run", he says, and draws his dagger. Peaking around the crates he is hiding behind, he looks for the people tied up, and tosses the dagger hilt first towards them, hopefully without anyone noticing.

When Dev sees the golden haired woman’s necrotic bolts strike down three of his companions with ease, he loses hope. He nods wanly to Normont’s advice to run, but he imagines himself fleeing, imagines a bolt of necrotic energy sucking the life from him, imagines his parents wondering what became of him, their sadness if they ever find out. His limbs are leaden and don’t respond to his urging to run.
Instead, the tiefling raises his hands in a sign of surrender and steps slowly toward Jasper’s motionless form, Jasper, who has shown such kindness to his family. Dev’s fearful eyes are locked on the golden-haired woman. If she so much as looks at him, he stops in his tracks.
As Normont tosses the dagger one of the young half-elf men steps across and puts his foot on it, nodding to Normont with a grin. The other starts as Dev moves forward but looks to Liam and the tall woman. Both summon sparkling essence into their hands but do not release it.....
The workers are still vacillitating between their terror of the woman and being startled by the mention of the Watch and Cobalt Soul.
Liam nods slowly to Dev, his eyes on the tall woman, " Tie him up first.", he nods to some rope that one of the workers has dropped nearby.
The young female half-elf begins walking slowly towards Magnus nervously.
Lokilia watches with dismay as Normont falls, is healed, then dropped again. Nerak is down. Magnus too. Dev offers his surrender. Quinn surrenders and then is still attacked.
It's this last fact that informs her actions. Even if she does surrender it does not decrease the likelihood of her being attacked. She first throws herself to the ground. (Any range attacks at Disadvantage.)
She then casts Fog Cloud, targeting it to cover the nearest opponent on one side and extend out between her and the others. (Mainly, she does not want it to cover her. The area is heavily obscured.)
Once the fog appears, she gets up (15 ft of movement) and runs directly away. (Another 15 ft.)
'They'll probably just come after me no matter what I do. Maybe just maybe this can work.'
As the cloud of fog enveloped the young half-elven woman and spread out between her and the others she gasped in shock.
Liam shouted, " Its just mist. Take those that are downed or surrendered.....let those that flee go for now. They won't get far and you know the area better than they do."
The tall blonde woman screamed in rage and rounded on Liam, " They should all die for this!"
" They will, my heart. But let us not make a scene in front of family and..the help.'
" Kile, Gile. Help the servants gather up the enemy."
" Asoto, revive the Soul operative...we need to question it."
The Ocici emerged from the fog bank along with some of the braver servants.
The young half-elven woman took rope and bound Magnus hands and feet before placing a hand over his heart, " You didn't have long left..." a flicker of shadow and light washed over him and his chest began to rise and fall again. She looked across the Dev, next to Jasper, " If you cannot heal him, I can..... but tie him first....my uncle does not give second chances."
The two Ocici lads went over to Nerak and secured him with ropes before taking out a small vial and pouring it into his mouth bringing him back from the brink.
Liam and two servants approached Normont, holding a length of rope. "Don't resist".
Another two workers approached Quinn and asked him to present his wrists to be bound.
The tall golden haired woman stalked around the perimeter of the fog bank her face a mask of fury....
.....................
Lokilia runs quickly out of the warehouse looking for a place to hide.......vineyards, olive grove, manor, storehouses and far beyond them the woods.
As Liam and the servants approach, Normont makes no threatening move, but he does turn his back for a few seconds and sits down with his pistol in his lap and his tinker's tools in hand.
"One moment, don't worry I am not going to resist".
They might hear him whisper, "Unauthorised handler, electrocution imminent".
He then puts the tools and pistol away, stands and holds out his hands, "See, no resisting".
He looks to Liam, "You know you are dealing with dark forces. That soil you are shipping from Whitestone, these abominations you are using it to create....hammer and tongs man, what are you all thinking?!".
Action: Magical Tinkering: Whenever the pistol is tapped, it will emit the recorded message: "Unauthorised handler, electrocution imminent"
As she flees, Lokilia maintains concentration on the fog as she casts Longstrider on herself. She then continues to at first move directly away from the warehouse, and then after Dashes to move along even faster. (Increases movement speed to 40 ft. on the round casting the spell, then moves at 80 ft. per round after that. Both the fog and speed spells have 1 hour duration.)
While in the first moments she just wants to put distance between her and the people in that warehouse and to stay with the fog blocking line of sight, she soon starts to look for any sort of cover - perhaps the trees or a hedge, trestle of vines, or even any sort of depression that might get her out of sight. (Perception if needed for that: 22) She will follow this as far as she can before going back to making for the woods and looking for another source of cover. 'Are they really not following?' she thinks. 'I can't afford to stop though. How far can I make it? I've got to get help!' If she thinks she can eventually make it, she will try for the woods. 'That's the direction back to Drynna right? I'll need to stay off the road though. They'll look for me there.'
(OOC - As stated, she wants to make the woods if she can make it that far. If not, she will be looking for a good hiding spot - perhaps an animal den she could squeeze into or something like that. If she can make to the wood, she would want to keep on for the full hour her spell lasts if she can do that. If not, she will be looking for a heavily concealed spot amongst the trees to hide. Might she make it back to Drynna in under an hour?)
Lokilia:- ( Heading towards Drynna is kinda across the vineyards for four rounds of Longstrider and then onto the road which is mostly flanked by fields 90% of the way back. Lots of open ground easily seen, especially in the middle of the day like now. Heading away from the road will get you into cover much faster, likely only 2 rounds of Longstrider before you start hitting trees. With that Perception check she easily finds a hiding spot about 100' away from the rear of the warehouse, though its by no means perfect especially if they do come this way.)
As Liam and the servants approach, Normont makes no threatening move, but he does turn his back for a few seconds and sits down with his pistol in his lap and his tinker's tools in hand.
"One moment, don't worry I am not going to resist".

" Excellent. Oh, I've been dealing with ' dark forces' for a very long time now. Don't fret, its all for the greater good."
" You are rather more knowledgeable than desirable however....well, not for too much longer at least."
He was bound hand and foot and one of the workers easily hefted him and carried him over to where the others were tied up, oddly they did not search him or take his belongings as yet:-
The other prisoners consisted of a very worried looking elderly dwarven couple, a bedraggled looking kobold, a thin man in his fourties and a well dressed young man with a mane of golden hair and an uneasy smile that paired badly with a very black eye. They all looked up sadly at Normont as he was lashed to the same long line as they were.
Dev, to put it kindly, is not entirely competent with knots, having learned from his parents how to tie off fishing lines in various ways, but still, never being very good at it despite his efforts.
(OOC: Indeed, if we face facts, we find that when the tiefling takes the length of rope and tries to tie his friend, the effect is not unlike a pre-K child taping a package to ship overseas. The contents may not make it to their destination undisturbed, in other words.)
And so with his best effort, rope is wound around Jasper and tied fast (at least as fast as Dev’s STR 8 allows), and with a heavy heart — he has given the task his best effort, after all— Dev looks up with innocent eyes from Jasper to the woman, and without further adieu casts healing on Jasper (Theme from Little Mermaid (reprise)).
(OOC: cure wounds for 9 HP. I will also add, for the sake of mechanics, a deception roll (20) to convincingly leave Jasper’s bindings quite slack despite appearances.)
The young woman looks at Dev with a strangely wistful expression then tightens Jaspers bonds and begins tying up Dev before two workers carry him and the slowly rousing Jasper over to the other restrained prisoners next to Normont.
Nerak and Magnus soon join them as they begin to wake, and finally Quinn is led over and sat down while his feet are tied.
...................................
The tall woman is still livid and seething but Liams calming words appear to have reigned her back from murderous frenzy, after a few minutes he convinces her to head back to the manor.
All those restrained hear snatches of their conversation:
" ....what was that name? Conroy? The merchant? He's dead?...."
" ....I understand, Dear Heart. Our families have not always seen eye to eye but in this case your wish for destruction and ours for conquest are mutually beneficial but we must no lose sight of the big picture. Tal'dorei will be united under our Patrons, of that I'm sure."
" ...there are a number of our assassins at work even now, I doubt the Cobalt Soul knows of this.....if that one is an operative he is a very junior one with the ease you took him down..."
The remaining nobles head back to the manor as it seems the show is over for now and the female half-elf follows Liam and Sandra at a distance occasionally glancing back toward Dev.
Liam calls one of the Galador Nobles over and they speak quietly, " Yes, I believe there are only one or two unaccounted for, take Poppy and go find them." One of the nobles returns shortly later with a large brindle mastiff on a length of chain and heads out with an axe carrying worker to search for any others.
Liam then instructs the two Ocici youths to watch the prisoners and the workers get back to work, filtering out until only the two half-elves and four workers remain in the warehouse.
Lokilia tries to get away from the warehouse, covering her track where she may, and find a spot to hide.
(Thinking Survival to not leave tracks while getting away, Perception and Nature to find a hiding spot. Let me know if I should alter.)
(Survival: 18, Perception: 20, Nature: 14)
Three figures emerge from the warehouse, a tall man in a velvet jacket holding the leash of a massive brindled mastiff and a portly greybeard .
