Lokilia sees the Uniya moving and starts to worry. But as she sees her fold her body down, she relaxes. Not wanting to interfere at this point, she just sits back in her chair, continuing to watch from a distance.
Normont just gawps at Mahendra for a few moments, totally surprised at her actions. He looks about to see if anyone else had noticed as he urges to get up.
"Hey, no need for that, we are all friends here. I get it, just a joke. Please get up. Please", he rambles, jumping down and acting a bit awkward, both wanting to help her up and not wanting to get close enough to concern her Katari guards.
"The odd cultural faux pas is to be expected, after all. It is intriguing to see to tell the truth", he rambles on.
Dev gawks too, but for different reasons. How confident and self-possessed is the uniya to respond to Normont with such complete -- what would you even call it? -- commitment? Integrity? Many of the people Dev has dealt with in Drynna would have doubled down, sneered and forced Normont into submission, whatever their initial intent. Dev hadn't thought her comment insulting to begin with, since he had been referring to Amber and the beetle, but she had quickly understood that Normont had taken the remark badly, while Dev's mind rushed to keep up.
"It was... my fault. I was joking but maybe I should have been more um direct. Sorry, Normont and Mahendra Upali."
If the situation rights itself, he will answer the Katari woman's question.
"We are heading north on business. Actually, I was wondering if you came that way? It's always nice to know what's in one's path. We can tell you about the road to Drynna, if you're going in that direction."
She rises back to her feet without another word, smiling sideways at Dev and shaking her head slightly.
" Ah, we just came from the North....I wanted to see clocktower. Is very nice..."
" Perhaps...yes, we will go to Drynna. Is by lake I think, no?"
Warm-Arterial-Spray leaned forward and fixed Dev with a look, as her warm breath brought scents of wine and venison to mind, " If you go North be careful, we saw giants...small giant...I do not know word....stupid and hiding in trees watching road. But they did not attack."
" I was sad, I wanted to eat one."
Mahendra reached into her pocket as the drinks arrived, it seemed the dwarf had been eavesdropping, and dropped a curious small fist sized orb into Normonts hand, " For you. A gift for the road, Fellow Traveller."
“You saw the clock tower? Isn’t it a marvel? Lord De Rolo did a wonderful job with it, and powering the city, don’t you think?”, Normont asks, clearing having a reverence for his Lord.
”I am from Whitestone”, he says just as Mahendra hands him the orb.
”Oh my, this is wonderful. Is it…for me? Are you sure?”.
“Oh,” answers Dev, trying unsuccessfully to picture a “small “ giant in a tree.
“Well, on the way from Drynna, we saw, ummm… haha, I don’t really know what they’re called. Big cats? I’ll show you.”
His eyes search the ceiling for a moment and then, respect and fear written on his face, Dev plays a short melody on his pan pipes. An image of the face or head of the predator from the road appears to float above the table (Minor Illusion). Some of its body may be vaguely sketched too, so to speak, but the eyes are etched in Dev’s memory and stare in fine detail at the Katari woman called Warm-Arterial-Spray.
Dev describes the encounter if the katari is interested.
Magnus sits back and watches the communication between his friends and the cat people and tenses when the conversation turns a bit salty, but ultimately relaxes again when it seems to right itself. He then winces a bit as Dev tells the group and anyone else who might be listening in on the conversation just where they are going but thinks it doesn't really matter all that much as they are not traveling north along the road the entire way. Hopefully we will turn off the road before any ambushes can be set.

" Ah, Your home is quite lovely. Feel free to visit my home of Jrusar sometime."
" Yes, I am quite sure this will be of use to you."

" Ah, like lion we have at home....but larger I think and more spotted. Impressive."

Mahendra drinks her wine and bows to the group, " We take our leave now. Have a good sleep everyone."
Dev smiles and makes himself look each of the three travelers in the eye when he says his goodbyes.
He turns to Normont and Quinn and is fairly beaming. If only people in Drynna were so nice, he thinks. But then, his new companions were met in Drynna. It’s puzzling, and he hasn’t words to express the warm and altogether unfamiliar sensation of belonging that continues to grow.
As the others leave and Normont and Dev end their conversation, Lokilia finishes up her drink and stands as well. "It is perhaps time for us to get some sleep as well. So we can be on the road early." She pauses a moment, looking around at her other companions. "Well, I at least want to get some sleep. I suppose you all are free to do as you'd like," she says with a grin. "Now, where were our accommodations at again?"
Normont happily follows Quinn towards their room, holding the gift from Mahendra in his hand.
"They were very nice folk, the lady even gave me a gift", he says as they walk. "This should help keep us on the right track as we travel, it seems to be some sort of magical compass".
Turning to Dev he asks, "What was it they were saying about giants, Dev?".
Turning to Dev he asks, "What was it they were saying about giants, Dev?".
Still aglow, Dev, without editorializing, retells Warm-Arterial-Soray’s warning. It is only after doing so that the teen puts two and two together. Whatever the creatures were, he and his companions would indeed have to be on the lookout for them. The reality hadn’t quite set in. When it does, Dev’s temporary high tide sinks just a bit.
Once they arrive in their room Magnus will ask Normont, "Can I take a look at that compass for a moment, it seems quite fascinating and I am curious how it works?"
If Normont allows Magnus to look it over (totally ok if you do not allow it), Magnus will turn it around and spin himself around while holding it to see if the compass does in fact seem to work. He will also be studying it to see if it might be something other than a compass but some kind of tracker maybe.

As far as you can tell it seems to be a minor magical compass.
( Assuming everyone is retiring, if not feel free to ' flashback'.)
Morning came with the sounds of way too many roosters, hyenas and peacocks, and as the companions roused to wakefullness it sounded like Turst Fields was already in full swing for the day with the sun not even risen yet.
Outside their room door housekeeping was already clearing vacated rooms and the smells of breakfast wafted up the stairs.

Quinn nodded as the bright folks left them, "They seem nice and capable, should we plan to travel with them?"
"You honour me", Normont replies beaming with satisfaction.
He gets up off his chair and gives a bow as Mahendra stands to leave, "If we do not see you tomorrow, I wish you safe travels".
Once they are gone he back to their table, "Well that was interesting".
When Quinn suggests travelling with them, he shakes his head. "They have just come from where we are heading unfortunately".
Dev smiles and makes himself look each of the three travelers in the eye when he says his goodbyes.

"I can repurpose my tools tonight and tell you exactly what it is all about in the morning if you are interested?".
