True to his word, Normont can be found with his tinkers tools out and adjusting some settings on his pistol as soon as he has done his morning ablutions. A detachable scope has been applied, which he uses to examine the orb over the next 11 minutes.
Once he finishes, he looks up to the others, ready to feed back his findings, when the smell of breakfast reaches his nostrils.
"Nuts and bolts that smells good. Everyone ready to head down?".
He is eager to see if their friends from Jrusar are still in residence.
Lokilia is up early and ready to go. "Yep! Let's get going," she says in response to Nomront's question. She has her things and is ready to go down to grab breakfast.
Magnus opens his eyes very slowly rubs them as he climbs out of bed and then stretches before saying, "Morning, guess it is time to grab some breakfast and hit the road. So not looking forward to camping out in the wild again. These beds were not great but at least they were beds."
He continues to yawn as he packs his things and joins the est when they are ready to grab breakfast and then hit the road.
Dev is found curled up on a rug in a corner, tightly bunched up under his traveling cloak, and is hard to rouse, though a faint smile curls his lips in sleep. He awakens groggy and after a minor growth spurt, one foot is a quarter inch longer than the other. It’s hard to keep from tripping as he squintingly makes his way downstairs, hair tousled like a sheaf of corn wrappers dumped in a waste bin.
”Can someone turn off the roosters? Please?,” his cracked voice stutters.
Everyone comes down to breakfast to find a large number of tables already carrying dirty plates, it seems almost everyone in the inn left extremely early this morning including their compatriots from the previous night and the merchants.
A different dwarf is working this morning, a young woman with a deep scar on her left cheek and her voluminous black hair pulled up in an enormous top knot atop her head, she smiles to you pleasantly and heads over to assist.
Food is provided and the open road lays ahead unless anyone wishes to buy anything for the road at one of the businesses along the road out of town.
"Folk really do like to get an early start here. I guess they are following the lead of the farmers", Normont comments, as he looks about at the sparsely populated room.
He quickly eats and makes ready to leave, having an idea for something he wants to pick up on the way out of town.
"It has been really nice having decent food and a dry, warm bed. I cannot help with the bed situation on the road, but I can maybe help with the food", he suggests, and keeps an eye out for some pots and pans and the like as well as some nice food as they travel through the town.
(OOC: I assume the identify picked up no trackers or the like, so will assume it is perfectly safe. Let me know if he can pick up the supplies mentioned please)
Examining the map you know you have a few days travel on the Alabaster Way if you want to break east and find where you need to go or you could head a day put of Turst Fields then start heading North-East through the Parchwood.....either way theres a day on the road before you need to decide.
Travelling north out of Turst Fields you pass fieldhands, guards and farmers going about their day, soon you leave the town behind walking across open ground with the Dawnmist Pines in the distance to your west and the Parchwood Timberland creeping closer to the east with every step.
By midday you are walking with dark pines to either side of the roadway and slate clouds gathering overhead, by mid-afternoon the rain has set in and shows no sign of departing.
( The sun will disappear behind the trees within an hour or so, there is a decision to make as to how you proceed from this point.....previously I believe it was decided to go further towards Whitestone and then cut straight across but there may have been some reconsidering since then...up to you guys.
Either way I need three rolls, with Guidance etc. to determine the next few days travel.....and camp for tonight.)
Since it has seemed to help thus far in the trip, Lokilia continues to work with the animals as the group travels. She will keep using Speak with Animals (cast as ritual) as well. She walks and talks with the beasts and makes sure their needs are met. (Animal Handling: 23 + 2 = 25)
On their journey Normont continues to ask Amber to fly above them keeping an eye on the road in front and behind, as well as to the sides. The sides obviously become more difficult as the tree encroach towards the road more.
Each night when they camp, he breaks out his new cook's utensils and makes a nice meal.
As they sit around the camp fire just off the road, he starts to discuss the plan.
"So, we have two choices. We go further North and cut straight East. Or tomorrow we go off the road to the North-East. The way I see it, the first option allows us to take the cart further, which means we spend less time carrying all the gear. The second obviously means we avoid those potential small giants, but we might come across other things", he summarises. "I am more comfortable now going North East, as I have the orb to make sure we stay on course".
"Either way, at some point we have to figure out what to do with the animals and the cart", he adds, looking at Lokilia at this point, wondering if she could maybe talk to the animals about it.
Amber Perception (with Guidance - he can channel touch spells through her): 13+2+4=19
"Well...," Dev says, "maybe Amber can look out especially for small giants? Because, won't it be faster if we stay on the road longer?"
He tries to think of his parents and how they might have answered the question of what to do with the animals before they -- his parents -- lost their sight, and thereby, any likelihood of needing to think about fine mounts such as these.
"For the horses, maybe there would be a farm or ranch along the way where they would allow us to leave them there until we return? I guess we'd pay them?," he adds, looking questioningly toward Magnus, who seems to be able to avail himself of funds for this expedition. "Then we would pick them up again when we are on our way home?"
The sense that he has no idea of what he speaks, never having left Drynna, overwhelms the teenager quickly, and he falls abruptly silent.
"That could be a possibility anyway Dev, great idea." As Magnus walks up beside Dev and places a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "I can write, essentially an IOU that the farmer can take to the nearest town and then the Cobalt Soul can foot the bill. And if anything, the farmer gets to keep the horses and wagons if we leave them behind." Then he turns to the rest of the group, "So we do we continue on the road some more or turn off here? Road would make travel easier but leaving the road would make for a more private travel from here on out."
"Sure, I can talk to the animals," Lokilia says. "I doubt they would be happy to just be abandoned though. They all feel this is kind of a scary place out here. Allowed to stay on farm though they might like. I think we should put off asking them until we're about ready to actually do something. I'm not sure telling them now and then having it happen days from now will make any sense to them. My opinion is we stay on the road and keep the animals with us as long as we can."

Dev nods in agreement, continually awed by Lokilia’s connection to the animals. He tries to make his weight more comfortable for his mount to bear and tries saying kind words to it as it goes.
Normont listens to the others as they have their say, and then clicks his fingers.
"You know what, I remember a longhouse up near where the southern trail to Mooren Village branches off of the Alabaster way. It was a day and a half out from Whitestone, so must be about two days from here. I think that would be perfect", he says excitedly. "What say we aim for there?".
