Aya will begin to cleanse the chapel of filth and will re-sanctify the place.
You can feel a heavy presence as you try to cleanse the taint. You hear a female's chuckle, "My dear little puppet, do you think it so easy? This is our playhouse now, you don't belong here. Run along now before we have to come out and spank you all!" She chuckles again and fades into the air.
Vrox stows his bow in his quiver and equips his shield. Since nothing jumped out and attacked Tyek and Khessa, Vrox will enter the chapel and start with just checking the area for any hidden foes among the dead.
Vrox asks Khessa, "Can Anator check the balcony to ensure that there are no fiends hiding up there?" He's not sure whether Saintess or Clarac would be able to sense fiends 50' away. If he doesn't see any stairs to ascend to the balcony, Vrox looks at the walls to see whether there are any columns, statuary, or carvings that are rough enough for him to climb. (OOC: Vrox has a climbing speed of 40 ft., so if it's climbable, he could get up to the balcony in just 1 or 2 rounds, but he's probably more accustomed to climbing cliffs and trees than castle walls.)
Finally, Vrox checks the room for hidden or secret doors, saying, "Some chapels in war-torn regions have a hidden sanctuary or a secret emergency exit, though I doubt that anyone escaped this slaughter since it seems like the Duke's family invited this evil into the castle themselves."
You find no hidden rooms. It is straight walls up to the balcony. While no real threat, the figure lying next to the statue is not of the normal castle retinue, rather has a chaos symbol on his black cloak. It appeared he had tried to take the statue, and then something happened.
While you can see the balcony, you are not sure how to get up there. There are two openings on either side of the double doors.
[[OOC: Thanks! I totally missed that on the map.]]
After Vrox finishes checking the chapel itself, he goes to the opening on the north side of the doors. If the light from the chapel does not illuminate that alcove / chamber, he picks up some coin or trinket from aftermath in the chapel, casts Light on it, and tosses it through the archway.
In the meantime, does Khessa learn the magic items' properties, after ritual-casting Identify?
The statue is an icon for the chapel's deity. It is a 12-inch-tall statuette made of the purest silver, weighing 10 pounds. It depicts a cleric kneeling in supplication.
While within 30 feet of the icon, a creature is under the effect of a protection from evil and good spell against fiends and undead. Only a creature attuned to the icon can use its other properties.
Augury. You can use an action to cast an augury spell from the icon, with no material components required. Once used, this property can’t be used again until the next dawn.
Bane of the Undead. You can use the icon as a holy symbol while using the Turn Undead or Turn the Unholy feature. If you do so, increase the save DC by 2.
Cure Wounds. While holding the icon, you can take an action to heal one creature that you can see within 30 feet of you. The target regains 3d8 + 3 hit points, unless it is an undead, a construct, or a fiend. Once used, this property can’t be used again until the next dawn.
The man lying dead next to the icon is wearing a handsome, fur-lined black cloak embroidered with golden thread (worth 250 gp) and a suit of chain mail, both nonmagical. The black mace is a Mace of Terror. From what it appears, he tried to loot the icon and paid for it.

Khessa explains to her fellow adventurers the properties of the magical objects, concluding: "Whoever thinks they can make good use of them, take them". She imagines that at least the statuette will easily find a protector in The Saintess or in Clarac...
The blonde arcane warrior then stores those that no one claims in her bag of holding, to decide together how to proceed in the future.
"At least," the tall adventuress points out "even in our absence the Nefarious Duo has been unable to achieve complete success... The sacred statuette is here - and it is still sacred. None of the henchmen of those two evil deities have managed to get hold of it or smother its aura. All we need to do is clean this place from top to bottom, and everything will soon be as it was before".
Vrox points out the stairway, illuminated by his Light, and asks, "Should we see whether this leads up to the balcony? Or do you want to go back and finish clearing the ground floor of the castle first?"
[[ OOC: @Aaggie - Khessa sent Anator to fly up and check the balcony. Did he report back? ]]

Regarding the statue, Clarac replies to Khessa, "While I would be a dutiful custodian of this statue until such a time as a congregation here can be reestablished, its magical properties which you describe would give me no special benefit; the statue's powers are quite similar to my own."
While you can see the balcony, you are not sure how to get up there. There are two openings on either side of the double doors.
Clarac checks out the opening on the other side of the double doors. If it's dark, she copies the trick Vrox used to illuminate it with an enchanted pebble.
Since no one wanted to take possession of the statuette, Khessa takes it, caressing it with reverence, and keeps it in her backpack.
The blonde arcane warrior is unable to attune to it, at the moment, but the help that the holy relic confers even to those who are not attuned (while within 30 feet of the icon, a creature is under the effect of a protection from evil and good spell against fiends and undead) will be invaluable, considering the nature of most of the enemies present!
The tall adventuress answers Vrox: "I think I would prefer to finish clearing this level first, to minimize the risk of someone coming in from behind, perhaps at an inopportune moment". And, if this is the decision that is agreed upon, she leads the group back, since from the chapel the only other exits are those that lead upwards.

That works for Vrox. If none of the others object, he can lead the party back through the hall and to the entrance chamber, looking for enemies and other threats as they go. Then he'll head down the southern hallway to that other set of double doors they saw.
You return to the southernmost set of double doors. As you listen, you hear nothing. When you open the door, three enormous crystal chandeliers brilliantly illuminate this magnificent chamber. Pillars of stone stand against dull white marble walls, supporting the ceiling. In the center of the room, a long, heavy table is covered with a fine white satin cloth. The table had been laden with many delectable foods: roasted beast basted in a savory sauce, roots and herbs of every taste, and sweet fruits and vegetables. Now, it was strewn everywhere, numerous victims who had come to the meal, lay dead. However, one thing stands out more than what you have seen, while the bodies have been torn apart, there is a lack of blood or splatter across the room.
"There must be a supernatural threat in here..." Khessa states, entering cautiously and starting to look around. The faithful Alfred, as usual, is behind her, ready to help her defend herself. She tries to locate the creature that killed the victims... "To torn someone apart without spilling a lot of blood, seems to imply that the blood was previously sucked..."
As you look at the victims, it appears their throats were torn out, and the blood drained. The only blood stains you find are on the clothing of the victims, that is all.
Vrox peers into the room but then springs back to let Clarac or the Saintess through first. He says, "There appears to be some fiendish power at work here, or we're looking on the aftermath of an undead bloodsucker's feast." In either case, he figures that the paladin or cleric would be better able to locate the the perpetrator of this massacre, if they're still nearby. For now, Vrox hides just outside the door and keeps watch up the hallway.
Seeing the massacre, Tyekanik again goes into a rage, growing to a huge size as he walks through the doors and infusing Annam's Greataxe as his Elemental Cleaver. He does not fear attack, and he strides across the room and to the far end of the table (40' movement), eager to cut down any demon or their undead minions who may still be lurking in the room.

Aya completes here ritual cleansing of the chapel. She appears satisfied with the work.
