Darby marvels at the key and the wealth orlf information they've been given before stowing the folder in her knapsack with the latern and pennant then a sudden panic washes over the dwarf! Looking all around Darby then sighs with relief looking up to see Sprocket making their way back from form the stage area before collapsing back into the metal sphere and into Darby's hand.
"Katar, Fianna are we at least roomed close together, " Darby asks moving back towards their companions. "Did...you happen to get a sample of that goo you mentioned earlier, " the dwarf then asks Fianna their voice lowered conspiratorially.

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
"It looks like we're all sharing a common room?" Fianna answers, a bit unsure of herself. ((I think that's what is going on? We all have individual rooms off of the same main common room?)) "It's like they knew we'd all arrive together or something."
"Umm... There's some still on my dagger," Fianna hems at first before deciding she really had nothing she can do with the sample she took. "But yeah, I scraped off a decent bit onto my lantern... Just in case. Of what, I dunno but...." Fianna ends with a shrug.
Katar looks a little stunned "Oh hello, sorry...I was just looking over this folder. Who are you?" He's a little unsettled by her appearance, but is still cheerful.
The exotic dhampir smiles again, "I said my name is Aurora. I'm a first year Witherbloom. Are you all right? You look a bit shaken. Nervous about school?"
"Sorry; I heard you the first time, I guess I'm just I'm still shaken up by that..." He pauses, trying to remember the word Darby used "Mimic...if you saw any of that, but thanks for your concern. I was pretty excited about school, now...I'm not so sure." He realizes he might be sharing a little bit too much with a stranger and stops himself "Anyways, I hope you enjoy your first day."
"A mimic? Really? How interesting! What a fun way to start the school year. See you around!" With that Aurora heads off to a separate wing of Semmet hall, humming a slow tune to herself.
A little unsettled by Aurora's reaction, Katar rejoins his companions from the treasure hunt. He fingers the platinum piece the professor gave him, amazed that so much wealth could be contained in something as small as that piece. "Would any of you be interested in touring the campus with me? I thought I'd try and get a grasp of this place before our classes begin."
"I'll take some...I can look at it later," Darby explains to Fianna as they scrape a sample of the goo into a vail and puts it into a bit of a hodgepodge of things collecting in their knapsack. "I think it's lovely, yes," the add looking around the room but then spotting their truck in a bedroom on the left. "That'll be my room. Seems kismet," they say happily going inside.
Darby makes a few attempts to discover their key before finding it and checking on the contents within their large travel truck, nearly as long as the dwarf was tall it held all the much needed tinkering gear that Darby would need to make a real go of it! After sorting out bits and bobs they dwarf hears Katar's request for company.
"I'd like a walk," Darby replies smiling at Katar having stuck their head out of their room into the communal space. "Just had to check my....my luggage," they add stowing something in their tunic before emerging fully. "I wonder what they have to eat around here, " the dwarf adds beaming at Katar a curious smile joining their roommate. "We're going to walk around and find food," they calls aloud for all to hear before heading to the exit.
Fianna quickly tosses some of her stuff into her room, more to mark it as hers rather than doing any decorating or anything. She didn't bring much here and still hasn't decided just how long she will stay. Still and all, roaming around campus could be fun. If nothing else it would allow her to scope the place out.
"Better than staying here all cooped up," Fianna would agree. "Let's go. Wherever."
Heading back out into the now late afternoon air, you can see the Firejolt Cafe isn't terribly far away, but also just outside the dormitory to the south, is a modest building where a couple lines of students are slowly snaking their way inside. A heavy scent of cooked meats and bread emanates from that direction, indicating that it is probably a place to get food. Upon closer inspection, one can see a sign over one door that reads "South Eating Hall".
A couple of elephantine creatures walk by, dressed in mock military attire and jabbering back and forth about some of the intricacies of dragonchess. "Impossible!" one of them trumpets, "That line has been used for centuries! The best grandmasters swear by it!"The other guffaws, "And leave no room for iteration!? Poppycock!"
Across the way a couple of satyrs are locked arm in arm playing on some pipes and prancing about, making flowers spring out on the grass around them and then engaging in a kiss that perhaps lingers a touch longer that is comfortable for most people
Toward the Cafe you can see a few Prismari students setting off fireworks in various shapes and colors while a few in Witherbloom colors run around desperately defending the flora in the area from the numerous sparks and yelling at the Prismari students.
"This is nothing like under the mountain, " Darby says looking around mesmerized by all their new surroundings. The dwarf the pulls out the orb from their knapsack that's making a soft, pleasant whirring noise. "Sorry," the artificer apologizes to Katar and Fianna. "Shhh...dear heart," they whisper sweetly before they then toss the orb into the air and the mechical owl springs to life once more!

Katar stands amazed for a few moments before he tries to follow the students into the "South Eating Hall". His eyes glow again with a nervous excitement as he walks past all sorts of strange and unique students.
“Never leave room for iteration,” Fianna says solemnly. “But there’s always room for poppycock!”
“Bring us under the mountain and I’m sure we would be just as amazed,” she later responds to Darby. “Your orb thing is pretty amazing too. You didn’t really make that yourself, did you?”
Entering into the eatery Fianna is less stunned by the variety of people than interested in the variety of eats. She was growing rather hungry…
"Yes, uh Sprocket is the latest model....I've made many not as....efficient as Sprocket here," Darby explains their ruddy cheeks a bit pinker with the confession. "What are your talents, " they ask next looking at their companions as they follow into the dining hall.
"Talents? Sorry, you're asking the wrong girl," Fianna says with an exaggerated sigh. "Truth be told, I've no idea why I was accepted here. I can shoot a little ice or fire but nothing spectacular... I can figure out when something is magic and usually what it does... But honestly? Most magical thing about me is my familiar."
With a little wriggling of her nose Fianna summons a small black own from out of nowhere. It suddenly appears in a total absence of a Pop! and flutters it's way immediately in a circle around the girl and then lands on her shoulder, blinking once before letting out the tiniest little hoot you ever did hear.
"I call her Batty," Fianna says. "Well, I can summon her in several shapes and sizes, including a bat... But I always call her Batty."
The line to enter the food hall moves at a slow but steady pace, and before too much longer you are welcomed into a medium sized great room where several large stands of various foods await you. You can see they are roughly sectioned off according to general type: breads, salads and vegetables, meats, and so on. Several workers in clean looking white linens bustle to and from the kitchen in the back, refilling stations as they start to dwindle, so that no one has to wait long for any particular dish. There is an attendant nearby as well that is taking special requests as students arrive. But just about anything you may wish or can imagine can be found among the stations, with the exotic spices and scents filling the air but oddly seem to stay mostly localized to the station they emanate from.
The rest of the hall is filled with numerous tables, benches and chairs, that while basic seem quite sturdy and able to take the regular abuse from the student population. Overhead are banners that flap on their own accord, depicting the different colleges and sights around campus. The windows on the walls are also very large, letting tons of natural light and now and then they open to let a freshening cross breeze blow through the hall before shutting again. The overall energy and excitement of a new school year is palatable as students chatter, laugh, and otherwise enjoy each other's company in the hall, with a few already neck deep in their books and not a few attempting harmless pranks on their fellows.
"I...thus is glorious," Darby exclaims happily moving towards each ethnic food on offer and pointedly avoiding any Dwarven dishes. Having loaded up two separate plates Darby finds a seat at a table with enough room for the party and sits down to begin their meal, their small mechanical owl fluttering to the table top and chattering for treats.
Darby smiles taking out some bits of smooth metal from a pouch on their belt and feeding it to the owl. The dwarf continues to admire their surroundings and eat their fill.
