OOC: if bugbear is in Dodge, does that break if he takes an attack action ie 'attack of opportunity' against a target leaving area will prompt decision to end dodge and take the swing or let it pass and continue dodge state?
Question: With Druidcraft I can light or snuff out a candle, torch or campfire... Can I light clothing???? What's the difference between a campfire and a bugbear's ragged loin cloth?
My purpose would not be to do damage. Leek is very hurt and almost dead. A distraction to get the bugbear's attention away from me would be nice...
Druidcraft is a cantrip that you can cast as often as you want. It has limits. But if you wan't to do something like that, then you'll have to narrate how you want druidcraft to create the distraction and then roll a skill check to see if it works.
As for your hitpoints, you do know that when you shape change you gain the HP of the beast you change into? Only if the beast dies and more damage was done to the beast shape than the beast had left in health does it spill over into your personal HP pool.
1. Well, bug bear loincloth is no different than torch or campfire, so cantrip to have a small fire light in the bugbear's groin area as a distraction. (what skill would I roll for that?)
2. Yeah I know. I'm saving it for the big fight with the big boss! I also have 1 level 1 spell left, so I might just cast heal on myself.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Really? Deception? I'm not making a fake fire. I'm setting his loin cloth on fire, but in the spirit of the cantrip (seeing as it's not an attack spell) I want it to be a "Holy shit my crotch is on fire!" moment, which will get his attention off me while he's trying to put it out.

OOC: Lets be clear... Cantrips are not intended to work wonders. They are free to cast, as often as you want. They are intended to pale in comparison to actual spells that use spell slots. If I let you just cast Druidcraft and automatically have the Bugbear be distracted, you'd probably be producing the same result as many higher level spells and/or skills and/or class abilities. In comparison to the real world, your Druidcraft cantrip would make a flame about the same size as a lighter.
As for the deception, you are trying to convince the bugbear - by making it look like a powerful spell is being cast, or by very careful positioning of the flame - the flame is a much greater threat than you. So yes, it's a deception.
Bugbear CHA check vs. DC 19: 8
Desperate to distract the Bugbear, Leek lights a tiny flame in the vicinity of the Mean Bugbear's crotch. After a moment, the bugbear's eyes go wide!
Kat moves to 10b and casts thornwhip on the bugbear
Attack: 25 Damage: 4
more attack on the visible bugbear
Attack: 16 Damage: 8
Attack: 21 Damage: 5
bonus: 2
Katerielle and Kitryn both land solid blows on the surprised Bugbear. The bugbear definitely turns its attention to Kitryn.
Rindelk moves to 11b and casts Fire Bolt on the Bugbear
Attack: 16 Damage: 10
Above should be 16 +4 To Hit, and 6 damage.
Ridelk's firebolt hits the bugbear square in the chest, leaving a bubbling hairless impact mark.
Elila attacks!
Attack: 13 Damage: 11
Elila swings her sword and the bugbear deflects it with its shield.
(Leek left)
Sling shot to the head!
Attack: 6 Damage: 6
Aaaaaaaaand by sling shot to the head, I meant Kytrin's...
Leek flings a stone, which bounces off the wall between Kitryn and Elila's heads.
The Tall Bugbear rethinks his strategy after taking a beating and hunkers down waiting.
(Takes the Dodge action. Any attacks with To-Hit must roll "disadvantage", ie: Roll 2d20 and take the lower result)
From the north door, the Mean Bugbear enters the room and looks menacingly at Leek.
(Everyone gets to act.)
OOC: if bugbear is in Dodge, does that break if he takes an attack action ie 'attack of opportunity' against a target leaving area will prompt decision to end dodge and take the swing or let it pass and continue dodge state?
OOC: Dodge lasts the entire turn, regardless of other events such as attacks of opportunity.

BTW: You only need to rest 1 hour to get your shape change slots back.
For the Druidcraft cantrip, you are trying to deceive the hobgoblin, so roll déception.
IE: D20 + deception skill ...
And add your spell casting modifier too.

Regardless: Here's the roll. 22
