"Oh...um...I don't know, would that be...um...proper you'd think?" Malvyn says, having not really even considered anything other than a straight summarized report on the topics at the Student Council meeting. "I guess I can ask Mina about that. I'm afraid I don't really have a sense of humour, but what kind of picture where you thinking about?" He continues after a moment, seeming to appreciate the Genasi's suggestions though. He certainly could use some good advice on making his text at least somewhat entertaining to read so that someone actually would care to read it.
As there is mention of a message, the purple-skinned Tiefling too glances over with curious fiery red eyes at the unusually silent oracle.
Guardok thinks for a moment about the kind of picture he would like to see.
"Well, what about pictures of the student council? That way I can look out for them around campus", he suggests. "Or perhaps if they discuss something there could be a picture of that, like...well...hm....", he suggests trying his best to think of an example but not really knowing what the student council might talk about.
"And I guess it doesn't have to be funny to make it interesting, but I bet you could be funny if you tried. With the right story of course".
Lesviel smiles as Guardokmentions pictures of the council. "That might be interesting. I never really knew who the Student Council was last year." She then glances over towards Mei, who had still not responded to her question about the messages. Meiseemed to be very quiet, maybe too quiet. "Oh! I think perhaps Mei has fallen asleep!" she says. As if in response, she gives a slight sigh in her sleep. Lesviel gets up coming over to the young woman. "Should we get her to bed? Or you think she's comfortable here?"
(OOC - Apologies to MissAbyss for filling in 'actions' for her character. But with an extended number of days without response I wanted to move things along.)
Mae looks down at the tired diviner and frowns with concern. "I'll take her to her room and get her settled in. It's getting late anyway I think so perhaps it is good to end our night now." She'll then stand up slowly, easing herself around Mei before scooping her floormate up in her arms and carrying her a few steps, then remembering she didn't know where Mei's key was and so turned back toward her own room instead to let her rest there.
"I'll help," Lesviel says to Mae. She notices Mei's key and grabs it. "We can put her in her own room. But very gracious of you to offer your own." She then helps get Mei onto her bed. Afterward she comes back, collecting the things Mei had been messing with earlier. "I'll just put these back in her room too."
Once all that is taken care of, she waves at everyone. "Yes, I should probably get some rest. Thanks for inviting me. Hope you all have a good night." And she then slips off back to her room.
"I suppose I could talk to the Student Council at their meeting, maybe they have some kind of picture of them that the Star can use." The purple-skinned Tiefling says with a small smile to Guardok and Lesviel.
"Well, perhaps we should turn in for the night too?" He says with a shrug to the Genasi as Lesviel and Mae helps the sleeping dreamer to bed. Malvyn would then return to his room, trying not to wake up the dreaming Satyr as he quietly tucks in for the night.
Eventually everyone turns in for the night. The first week of classes at Strixhaven completed. The weekend provides time to relax, although many of the floormates already have activities planned. Eventually classes resume and a couple of weeks go by. Everyone starts to develop a routine, mixing class time, class work, studying, extracurriculars, and their work. And whatever other activities they decide to pursue.
Malvynworks at the Biblioplex, finding himself often working with the minotaur Drazhomir. He also continues to write articles for the Strixhaven Star, working with Mina Lee to keep improving his writing and find ideas for stories. And much of his time seem to be spent at the Bow's End Tavern - for some reason.
Meispends her time with her two activities. The Distinguished Society of Fine Artists takes up part of her time. She's gotten to know the Half-Elf Cadoras well. And also, Nora Ann Wu a bit, though Nora Ann always seems to be busy with many things. Also, along with Knap, she has gotten to know the Dwarf Greta in the Iron-Lifters Society. Meialso seems to mysteriously slip out now and then on a weeknight, though nobody has really noticed where she goes.
As mentioned, Knapis involved in the Iron-Lifters. He also has found himself working as a Sidewalk Sweeper for the Campus Grounds. There he often sees and works along with the Owlin Shuvadri.
Guardok is enjoying his activities with the Intramural Gymnastics Club and the Fire Genasi Zanther's enthusiastic encouragements. He has also gotten to know Rubina quite well as part of the Playactors Drama Guild. It is not much surprise that Quentillius gets the lead role. Rubina ends up with the female lead role. Guardoktried for a prominent comedic part and he gets it!
Maeworks at the Bow's End Tavern as a Hostess where she gets to know the Owlin assistant manager Javenesh. She also runs into a number of her floor mates from time to time, probably Malvynmore than most. He is clearly there to see Aurora, who Maehas also gotten to know well. The two have spent a lot of time together as members of the Strixhaven Show Band Association. She has gotten to know Rubina a bit as well, though her acting role has kept her rather busy outside of band rehearsals of late.
Mellori and Chara have more kept to themselves over the start of the year. They have both been strongly focused on their studies and more reluctant to join the group in outings. But they still remain friendly with all their fellow floor-mates though. (I believe these two have dropped out, though they can jump back in should they wish at any point!)
(At this point, if characters could kind of summarize what their 'usual routine' would look like. And what they might be up to in their activities or with the NPCs they have relationships with over the next two weeks or so. As always, if there are any areas you want to RP specifically or just work out details, let me know!)
Malvyn would diligently keep most of his focus on his studies, trying to be attentive and active during classes while seeing as his obligation to keep the dreamer awake enough to take part in them too. He would take his jobs at the Biblioplex and the Strixhaven Star quite seriously too, finding the gentle and friendly Minotaur Drazhomir quite pleasant company, also taking some interest in his poem writing, thinking about writing something himself eventually. He would do some research into the Student Council before attending the meeting, hoping to get their picture as Guardok suggested and taking help from his floor mates with his text before submitting it with Mina Lee. Last but not least the purple-skinned Tiefling would indeed spend many evenings at the Bow's End tavern where he can be seen in the company of Aurora, attending her every performance there.
A typical day he would get up reasonably early to wash up and get dressed in his first-year uniform before having breakfast in the refectory, then off to classes, usually having lunch at the Biblioplex café whereafter he would study and work at the Bibliplex in the afternoons, later having dinner at the refectory with the others before working for the Strixhaven Star and spending time at the Bow's End tavern in the evenings, typically coming back in fairly late for some quiet reading in the study room before turning in for the night.
Guardok gets himself into a routine over the two weeks, making sure to rise early to train before a hearty breakfast after which he attends classes. He doesn't miss a single class, so focussed is he on making the most of the fact that his family sent him to Strixhaven.
In the evenings he either works on his acting with Rubina, or makes use of the gymnasium, often finding Zanther there as well. This is in addition to the regular club meetings.
He doesn't visit the Bow's End Tavern nearly as much as Mal, but does on occasion wander across to keep his friend company, and is certainly happy to provide his journalist friend with feedback from time to time.
If anyone is willing to run through some lines for his play, he will be very grateful too.
The adrenaline rush of the first week quickly wears off for Mae and it takes the next week to really get adjusted to the new schedule, but eventually she does find her routine and settles in a bit more. She is a bit of an early riser, always wanting to greet the morning in her own way with time then to eat a solid breakfast and head off to classes. The formal classroom training is unusual to Mae and at times feels a little too confined inside the walls for the entire duration but does a decent enough job of keeping concentration on the lectures, enjoying the insights the different professors offer into magic.
She finds her footing in the showband eventually, with help from Aurora and Rubina, getting reacquainted with the musical notations and the flow of the rehearsals. They are demanding but she finds herself uplifted after every rehearsal, being able to employ her musical talents without necessarily being the center of attention. At the tavern she works faithfully, enjoying the atmosphere it provided, appreciated the order Javanesh held over the place as well. She always admired Aurora when she performed and certainly noted the constant presence of Mal, and any of her floormates when they came by.
All in all she strove to fit in, despite her divine features, also making a time or two to visit the other aasimar in an attempt to learn a bit more about their racial heritage.
Pierobecomes more of a common figure on the 4th Floor of Dresar Hall over the following weeks. He seems to leave promptly, fairly early in the morning, which makes sense as he does have an 8am class, even if he doesn't share it with any of the floor-mates. (One day Knaphappens to mention PIeroto Shuvadri and she indicates Peiro is always promptly at class each morning.) He seems to be doing fine in his classes, though nobody has really seen him specifically studying.
Usually, he is not seen after class until he returns to the dorm after dinnertime. So, it is certainly possible that he is studying at some point. He shows no interest in hanging out with the other floormates or going places with him. His time at Dresar Hall is heavily spent in his room. At times he occupies himself with reading, but much of the time he is writing or going through papers that he carries around. They don't seem to be school related though.
Piero is friendly enough with Guardokwhen he is in Room 404. He's not very talkative, but the Earth Genasi learns his roommate seems to be from a different plane than Arcavios. And he confirms he has a girlfriend - a second-year Prismari student. There are hints that he may have some important position back in his home, but he always refuses to answer any direct questions about it. Nor does he volunteer any information.
Maehears rather circuitously that Pierois a member of the Dragonchess Club. Javenesh at the Bow's End mentioned hearing it from Tilana Kapule, who he was on the Silkball team with. Tilana is also a member of the Dragonchess Club. It was really the only indication of how Pieromight spend his time outside of class.
Over the next weeks, Mei struggles against her nightly Dreams to stick to a routine. More than once, she likely wakes the entire floor crying out in her sleep or startling them after having sleepwalked into strange places/positions. Her sleeplessness begins to plague her attendance as well as she misses a few History of Magic and Art classes, though the most recent of which she did make it to... in her pajamas. Missing classes begets a cycle of late-night studying to catch up and by the end of each week, the small oracle finds herself quite haggard.
Tired as she may be, she makes a point of keeping up with her social circles--floormates and new friends alike. She visits Mae and Malvyn at their workplaces and gladly helps Guardok with running lines (once even with Quentillius perhaps?). After their Iron Lifter's meets, Mei enjoys her and Knap's scenic walks back to the dorms and the different routes they try to take to see more of the campus (likely getting lost more than once).
When she's not too busy, Mei joins Nora Ann for "coffee and clay dates" to practice pottery and talk more about the charity art auction (inviting Cadoras along as well!). She also continues to send letters to Quentillius (and maybe even walks with him to or from classes sometimes if that's okay, DM) while also finding herself drawn to the light-hearted half-elf, Cadoras, whom she always brings food to during their sculpting sessions in the studio, challenging his palate with increasingly strange flavor combinations through Prestidigitation.
Knap didn’t dislike his classes, and though consistent in effort he wasn’t particularly consistent with results. He studied cheerfully all the same, swept sidewalks as if rehearsing for the ballet (he set out to impress Shuvradi with his work ethic), and carefully saved his coin, except for a single peach fizz if his friends were to let loose on the occasional evening. He’s also been collecting cuttings from various plants and around campus, particularly those discovered walking with Mei. He’s been growing these cuttings in mugs borrowed from the dining hall. They are scattered on his side of the room but he occasionally leaves one of two here or there on 4th floor.
Everyone manages to keep busy with their activities. Malvyndoes write an article about the Student Council meeting - a fairly dull affair this time with them approving a schedule for various venues on campus. Though it does give him a bit of insight into many upcoming events. Mina Lee suggests he keep reporting on the monthly Student Council meetings. In the meantime she suggests writing profiles of the various Council members. Guardok'splay is starting to come together in their rehearsals and Rubina has helped a lot in rehearsing with him outside of the regular meetings. Zanther has helped him put together a few routines for future gymnastic competitions. Maeenjoys the help Aurora provides in getting going with the Show Band, although really she's more of a practice partner once she gets the hang of it. Aurora seems to perform more nights than not, so she often sees her at the Bow's End as well. Meiand Knapenjoy their weightlifting and walks quite a bit. Knap's contributions have brought a variety of new plants to the floor - all quite welcome additions. Plans for Mei'scharity art event are moving along and it seems like they might just pull this off in a few months. Cadoras and Nora Ann both meet with her regularly to plan. And Nora is more than happy to show Meiwhat she knows of clay work - which is very little it turns out. Nora Ann has quite the knack of turning out somewhat mishapen pieces - but everyone continues to support her efforts and applaud here attempts.
After these weeks, it has been rare to actually get all the floor-mates together. It is mid-week and somehow today none of the five of you have anything demanding your time. Once Magical Physiologies is done for the day, you are all headed to the Firejolt Cafe for some drinks and to just hang out for a bit. As your group walks along, murmurs of excited curiosity ripple through the clusters of other students around you.
Suddenly, Cadoras Damellawar barrels toward your group. He bumps into Meiand is laughing uproariously. “Oh! Hi Mei! You’ve all got to see this!” he chortles. “We found these weird frogs and snuck them into the Fireside Lounge at Firejolt Café, and now we’re going to race the little hoppers! Quick! Come see before the professors find out!”
Mei, in the middle of chatting with the group about the art auction, squeaks as she's jostled. She clamors to balance the stack of textbooks in her arms as the sound of familiar laughter sinks in. It immediately brings a smile to her face.
"C-Cadoras, hi! We were--" she settles her chin atop the tomes to shift her grip, "--we were actually just headed that way--w-waaait, did you say racefrogs?" Mei blink-blinks at the green-haired half-elf. Any reservations about frogs and food safety are quickly eclipsed by curiosity. "Well, um, that's not something you see everyday, right?" she says to her floormates, glancing between their faces to see if they, too, were interested.
When Mei's glance hits Guardok's face, it is obvious he is more than interested. In fact it is all he can do not to just race off to see right away.
"Sounds fun to me. What makes them weird?", he asks imagining that they are six times the size of the regular frog or that they have spines like some kind of dinosaur.
Malvyn had been surprised at how stimulating he found it to express himself in writing and was eager to find things to bring to Mina Lee and the Star that he could write about, but he was uncertain these activities with the frog race was something that should be reported on considering what the green-haired Elf said about doing it before the Professors found out. Maybe it was something Grayson would pick up in his gossip column though. The purple-skinned Tiefling had loosened up quite much since coming to Strixhaven but he still hesitated being part of something that was not strictly approved by the Professors. Still, he certainly didn't want to miss out so he tags along to see if this was newsworthy or not. He wondered how the staff at the Firejolt café felt about this frog race but decided they could probably handle anything improper about it.
Mae was only half paying attention at the moment, half humming one of the showband tunes to herself as the group was walking toward the cafe. So when Cadoras came bumbling out she jumped slightly in surprise and then raised her eyes in curiosity. Racing frogs? They didn't really seem the type to be particularly good at racing, but the mention of them being weird too made Mae wonder, so as soon as everyone else decided to follow back inside, she took up the rear and headed inside as well.

As your group walks along, murmurs of excited curiosity ripple through the clusters of other students around you.
Suddenly, Cadoras Damellawar barrels toward your group. He bumps into Mei and is laughing uproariously. “Oh!

We were--" she settles her chin atop the tomes to shift her grip, "--we were actually just headed that way--w-waaait, did you say race frogs?" Mei blink-blinks at the green-haired half-elf.
“If you ask me, all frogs are a little bit weird…and mostly in a good way.”
Knap recalls a mean frog that drunk up the pond at home years ago when he was just a kitten.
“Errr, but I’ve met some grumpy ones too.”
Knap wonders where they found the frogs.
“I’m going to check it out.” With a hop in his own step Knap makes way toward the race.
