Piero is difficult to read for Guardok, but he seems a bit aloof. "Piero Mirthside," he replies. "I'm a bit surprised to find myself here as well, but evidently the vexatious Sharpbeak knows best." He glances down at the papers he was looking through then looks back at Guardok. "I think I'd prefer to stay here and read through a few things for now." He then goes straight back to looking at the papers.
Malvyn cannot really see what Trisiel is reading as she replies to him. "Well, part of the fun is discovering things yourselves. But I do recommend getting out to see the various events on campus. Whether a silkball match or a concert put on by Prismari students, there's just always a lot happening if you look for it." She looks like she suddenly has a thought. "I'll have to start posting some of these on the bulletin board outside my room. Then you guys can perhaps better see what things are happening. Heh, not that I hardly know everything."
She then stops, looking back at Malvyn, "Well then, that doesn't really help for right now though does it!"
"No, it was helpful enough I think."The purple-skinned Tiefling says in a polite tone. "From now on we will be monitoring the bulletin board outside your room then." He adds with a small smile. "You are of course still welcome to join us now though if you want. Maybe you can tell us more about events we definitely shouldn't miss? Oh, and I suppose you play together in the showband now?" Malvyn says, looking between Lesviel and Mae.
Guardok shrugs, "No problem, you know where we are if you feel sociable".
Before he leaves he quickly goes to his own bed and tidies a few things up, having left a bit of a mess thinking he pretty much had a room to himself. He then makes his way back towards the door before stopping to make one last comment.
"The folks on this floor are really nice. I hope you will give us all a chance".
"Well, I can join you for a few moments," Lesviel tells Malvyn. "Let me just put my book in my room." She stands and starts heading for her room. "And yes, I am in the Showband with Mae. We're both playing flutes!" She then slips into the hallway and to her room.
"I'll keep that in mind," Piero says to Guardok as he leaves the room.
"Oh, so maybe a flute duet later then?"The purple-skinned says Tiefling hopefully, looking between Lesviel and Mae, giving the blonde Elf a nod as she passes him. He then quickly checks that A Dance with the Devil Kin is still inconspicuously tucked away on the shelf before moving on to the lounge where he finds a seat in on of the comfy couches there, leaning back to relax, his thoughts drifting off to Aurora and her performance while waiting for the floor mates to gather.
Lesviel had already slipped into her room so doesn't hear Malvyn'squestion. He notices that the book is still right where it was before as he heads over to the lounge and relaxes on one of the couches.
Guardok is not far behind Malvyn in coming back into the lounge. Presumably Maewould be not far behind the Tiefling, but Knapand Meihave not yet returned.
It doesn't take too long for Lesviel to reemerge from her room. She's carrying a cup filled with a clear liquid. "Sounds like you don't have anything specific planned for the evening? How did the first week go for everyone?" She glances around for person to person.
Guardok settles himself down in the lounge and looks to others present, "Piero is catching up on some paperwork".
When Lesviel asks about their week he replies, "Unusual. It is so different to normal life. It is a good different though. All the studying will take a while to get used to".
He thinks for a moment and answers more quietly, "And I miss those I left behind".
"Oh, a duet? I mean, I suppose we could perhaps." Mae looked at Lesviel for a moment as if considering the possibility and then continued on to the lounge and sat down in a chair again. "I don't think we have anything in particular planned," Mae offered casually once she settled in, fixing her golden hair into a tidier ponytail behind her. "I suppose the first week went well enough, The courses seem interesting enough although the showband was a little...overwhelming. But once I get my bearings there it will be grand I expect."
The purple-skinned Tiefling casts a curious glance at the cup of clear liquid the blonde Elf carries as she joins them in the lounge. Was it simply water, or something much stronger? As Guardok mentions missing those he left behind, Malvyn realizes he misses absolutely nothing about what he had left behind. He wonders what would have been overwhelming for the Aasimar with the showband but hopes she will settle in alright.
"Yes, everything has gone quite well so far I would say." Malvyn says quite sincerely. "The classes have been quite intersesting I think, my work at the Biblioplex too, well, for someone like me at least..." He says with a grin. "...and next week I will try out covering the Student Council meeting for the Strixhaven Star. I suppose I should try to look into what is on their agenda and prepare for that to better follow the discussions during the meeting."He says, scratching his neck. "You wouldn't know what kinds of topics are covered on a typical Student Council meeting?"He asks the blonde Elf.
Lesviel nods at Guardok'scomment. "There can be quite a bit of studying. Best to keep up with it too. I made the mistake in one class of waiting until the end and it was quite a lot to try to make it up at the end."
Turning to Malvynshe says, "Student Council? I'm not sure I really know. But I'd guess they have records or something somewhere. Sorry."
Catching the comment about a duet, she says, "Heh, a duet would require us to have something to play. Perhaps we can play something at a later date - if you want to Mae." She then continues, "I am curious why the Showband seemed overwhelming to you Mae. Just because it's something new?"
Mae shifted a bit in her chair. "A bit. The director seemed very...enthusiastic. But also reading music. It's been a very long time since I've tried to read written music. Nevermind read and perform with such a large group of other musicians at the same time. But I will adjust, I'm not worried about it. And if you'd like to do something together later perhaps we can arrange that." She settled back in her seat again keeping a tight smile.
Mei returns from her room already dressed for bed, sporting her usual satin shorts and camisole beneath an open silk robe embroidered with wisteria trees. She seems to have things hidden within the long square sleeves, but makes no move to reveal them as she sits on the floor near Mae's chair. Not wanting to interrupt the current conversation, the young diviner simply settles into a comfy position and glances about, taking in the general atmosphere of the room.
Lesviel nods to Mae. "I can see where if you've not been used to reading music recently it would be tough. And we did cover a lot for a first day! Hopefull it will get better though."
The purple-skinned Tiefling simply shrugs and smiles to the blonde Elf. "Nothing to be sorry about, I suppose it is part of my job now to search this kind of infomation out."He says with a polite smile to Lesviel.
As there is mention of reading music, Malvyn simply nods. He was not an expert on music by any means but he knew well from his extensive reading that there were musicians that worked with written music and those who did not, and perhaps Mae was simply used to the latter. Her understanding of music in general would quite likely make it easy for her to get into reading music though he thought, giving the Aasimar and encouraging smile.
As Mei turns up in the lounge, Malvyn gives her a warm smile, admiring her embroidered silk robe, giving the sleeved of her robe a curious glance. "Knap is coming too right?" He says, hoping his carefree but somewhat whimsical roomie hadn't gotten lost on the way to the lounge.
"If you need to practice with other people, I can help from time to time, Mae. I do play the flute as well, or I can join in on the Lyre or lute. I think most of my luggage was musical instruments in fact", Guardok offers eagerly, always willing to help a friend out.
He also looks to Mei when Mal asks about Knap. "What have you done with him?", he adds with a chuckle.
"Oh." Mei looks around, realizing the satyr is nowhere to be found. “Done... with him? I'm not sure,” she says with slight confusion. “Oh no. Do you think I hurt his back earlier? Maybe I was too heavy?” Mei stashes the things from her sleeves beneath Mae’s chair as she rises.
“I’ll go check,” she offers before padding off into the circular hallway to check Malvyn and Knap’s room.
The purple-skinned Tiefling too glances over at Mei, wondering what she and Knap had been up to now. He is about to offer to go check on the satyr, it's his room and room mate after all, but whatever the oracle stashes away under the Aasimar's chair distracts him and then she is alrady out the lounge. He considers peeking at what Mei hid but decides it would be impolite and that the dreamer would likely want to surprise the others with something, probably something nice too, it always was with her.
"So how has work at the Bow's End tavern been so far?" He then turns and asks the golden-haired Aasimar.
Mae watched Mei get up and leave again and then shrugged at the tiefling. "I was only there once I think, but it seemed all right. I'm sure it will be nice and busy as the year goes on."
"Oh, you are working at the Bow's End Tavern?" Lesviel asks. "That doesn't seem like too bad of a job." She glances about at the others. "Have you all gone out and got jobs?"
Returning to the lounge, Mei catches Lesviel's comment about the tavern as she settles back down again. "It'll be so nice to hear all the music all the time," Mei says, tilting her head back until it rests on Mae's chair and she's gazing at the Aasimar upside down. "Maybe I could come visit you while you're working sometimes? I'll be an easy customer and a big tipper," she grins.
"Though... oh. I didn't get a job," she says and deflates, as if just remembering and lamenting the fact. "So I won't have much much to spend this year. Though maaaybe Guardok and I will find a Sugar Father! I think that's what my sister called them? Like some sort of clergymen?" Her brow furrows as she thinks back before her expression lights. "Said you'll never have to work if you find one. I think they lend you money for free."
