As the others weren't interested in a debriefing session at Firejolt cafe, Malvyn turns his attention fully to the pierced raven-haired performer as she and the dark-skinned conductor comes up to him. "Yes, it seemed okay I think, I guess I survived." He says, trying to sound calm about it before the two pretty musicians. "I admit I wasn't sure how I would feel about taking a test like this, can't say I've ever really done that before, answering questions under the pressure of time, but it went okay I feel."Malvyn continues with a small smile. "I'm sure the two of you would have had no problem breezing through this?"He says, looking between Aurora and Rubina.
After class the next day, the purple-skinned tiefling certainly was among those hanging back a bit, having built up an unhealthy amount of anxiety during class over his result, and only as all the others have gone to check their results he would step closer, his fiery red eyes slowly and nervously working their way down the list of names, more and more relieved as he gets down to the aced section, and breaks out in a relieved smile as he finds his own name there together with many of his friends. He already heard Mei call out that they all did it but he wasn't certain what she meant by that exactly, and now he realizes why she had called out Knap's name. Malvyn smiles to himself, never underestimate a satyr, there was more to his roomie than he wlould let on it seemed, a truly remarkable feat. He had to congratulate him on that.
Mei reins in her excitement with a blush and gives the others a calmer congratulations, suddenly aware of how their own celebration might come off to those who didn't do as well. Having seen Piero and Quentillius' names lower, she looks around for any sign of them with a degree of worry, though she doesn't want to miss Guardok's reaction to his acing the exam.
Zanther gives a hearty wave over to Guardokas he sees him coming over. "Hey there!" he calls out. Once the genasi speaks to him he gives a chuckle. "I do love a crowd. But yes, thought I'd let the others rush in and just wait a bit. But I will tell you, I don't think I did so well." He sees how anxious Guardokis however and nods. "We should go and take a look," he says, moving to walk over to check the scores.
As they finally get there, he looks over the list. "Ah! There I am at the very bottom of the 'Passed' list! That's great. And you my friend! You aced it!"
After the test, Aurora tells Malvynshe's fairly confident to have passed. Rubina seems perhaps even more confident. "It did not seem all that difficult. All the questions were really things Professor Lang had outlined for us."
Aurora comes over to Malvynas he's looking at the scores. "Well, looks like we both aced it. A good result," she says, leaning against the tiefling and giving him a pat on the shoulder. She glances over, trying to see where Maeis at. She sees her talking with Larine and decides to keep her congratulations for later. "Mal, it seems all your floormates did a wonderful job. They're an amazing group."
Cadoras manages to step back just a tiny bit just before Meimight have based her head into his chin. He laughs at her as her high-five attempt manages to strike near the elbow. "Way to go Mei!" he tells her. "Even I managed to pass! I should've never had a doubt."
Looking around, Meisees no sign of Piero, but Quentillius is over speaking with Rubina. He seems to be congratulating her on her top mark.
Guardok rushes over with Zanther, thankful that the crowd had thinned a little due to his short stature making it difficult to see past people.
"I aced?", he says incredulously. "I aced it", he repeats having spotted his name on the list now.
"Yes!", he says making a fist and thrusting his elbow down.
"And you passed Zanther. See, nothing to worry about", he says to his friend with a smile.
He looks around for those he knows best, the fourth floor crew, Rubina and Quentillius. Each one he makes eye contact with he does a little silent cheer, as he pushed his palms into the air twice. The smile on his face showing his relief.
Specifically with Knap and Rubina, who scored top marks, he just points at them and grins.
The purple-skinned tiefling slouches imperceptibly at Rubina's statement. He wished he had had her confidence over his result. "So, I was thinking about a coffee somewhere, care to join me?"He says looking between the two musicians.
Malvyn draws the raven-haired performer closer for comfort as he checks his result, then, as he is finished, turning to hug her. "Yes, I admit I'm quite relieved I even passed..."He says quietly, looking down at her. "...and congratulations, I'm so happy you did well too Aurora." He continues, then letting go of her. "And yes, my room mate in particular is pretty amazing, and Rubina too, I can see now why she was so confident after the exam." He says, giving Aurora a relaxed smile. "Some sort of celebration should be in order, don't you think?" He says with a bright smile, his purple tail swaying excitedly behind him. "Maybe an afternoon picnic for all our friends?"
“Too right, Rubina. All about listening to your elders.” Knap suddenly feels the need to be chummy with his new intellectual equal. And, perhaps now there is a little seed of ego planted in the usually humble-ish Satyr. “Actually Malvyn, I will join you for that coffee debrief.”
Mei bends to give Guardok a congratulatory hug, slipping something into his pocket as she straightens again. She hopes he'll write home about how well he did.
A smile brightens her features as she soaks in the high spirits around them. The little diviner is glad to join her friends for whatever celebration they have in mind.
"Oh, well... I didn't, um... Dream about it, if that's what you mean," she hedges, then bites her lip against a smile. "But I miiiight've consulted the cards. Four of Swords and the Chariot. Rest and Triumph. I just didn't realize the Four meant I'd literally rest during the exam," she laughs. "They said you'd all pass too. Though nothing about Knap's top marks!"
She looks back at the posting and cocks her head to one side, "It's too bad we can't take this for you to frame, Knap." Leaning in to their group, she looks around then whispers with a mischievous glint in her eye, "Or... could we?"
Whenever Guardok checks his pockets, he'll find a smaller, hand-painted version of the Eight of Pentacles card. But the figure in it looks like Guardok and there's a circus tent in the background rather than a city. Leaned against the bench he works on are a pair of swords with tassels tied to the handles, alluding to his sword dancing.
(In the interest of cleaning up a bit... THIS IS IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE EXAM)
Maehad left with Larine after the exam. Both Rubina and Aurora agree with Malvyn to go get some coffee. As does Knap. They settle on the Firejolt Cafe and soon head there. (Anyone may say they joined if they wished. But we'll presume this was an uneventful conversation and move on from that.)
(AFTER SEEING THE EXAM RESULTS)
Maeagain is chatting with Larine after the lecture on Monstrosities and after seeing their results. Cadoras and Zanther had both hung back after class until Meiwent to talk to Cadoras and Guardoktalked with Zanther. The two pairs eventually made it to find out their scores. Aurora meets up with Malvynafter he got his exam result. Quentillius seems to be congratulating Rubina on her achievement.
Malvynthen suggests a celebratory picnic to Aurora, for all their friends. Meicongratulates Guardok, slipping something into his pocket.
(And this is where we stand. We can have an impromptu picnic at this point. Or people can bow out as they wish.)
"Maybe we should leave it where it is for a little bit at least", Guardok replies to Mei with a chuckle at the idea of stealing the results sheet.
"Perhaps now we can start your fencing lessons, Mei?", he suggests. "I mean, soon. Not right this second. But now we are not studying all our spare time".
"We could at least find a suitable training blade. A stick would suffice as long as it is the right shape and a little balanced. It was a dagger you wanted to carry right, not a sword?".
Guardok's mention of fencing lessons thankfully pulls Mei's focus from the results posting. "Oh! Really?" she says with a little gasp, bouncing slightly on her toes. "Y-Yes, please! You're sure you don't mind?"
When he asks about a dagger versus a sword, she looks down at her person, imagining a rapier like Guardok's at her hip. "A sword would be... striking. Though harder to hide inside my skirts," she titters. Her excitement builds, sentences coming out with hardly a pause between them. "Is one easier to learn than the other? Can I fence with a dagger? I wonder if they have training blades available for rent or... oh! The LARP group might have some!"
"That's a good point, we might have some dagger and sword props in the playactor's guild too. I will check the next time we meet", Guardok says also getting a little carried with it all.
"As for the difference between a sword and a dagger, they are used in quite different ways really. If you want something concealed, I guess it has to be a dagger. Let's start with that and see how you go? But it won't really be fencing as such".
Mei glances up at Cadoras, wondering if she'd be able to borrow something from the LARP group when Guardok mentions the Playactor's Guild. "Oh, true! Maybe Quen--" she looks over her shoulder at the red-headed actor talking to Rubina and her words trail off. She shakes her head then nods with a smile. "Next time you meet, yeah. Thank you."
Her plum-colored brows rise and she levels her gaze at Guardok with a grin, "And you don't have to go easy on me, okay? Ironlifter's has toughened me up. I can take it." She puts her arm next to Zanther's and flexes. Then giggles into a fit of laughter when her arm looks no different flexed and like quite the twig next to the fire genasi. "Okay, maybe go a little easy on me," she blushes.
Cadoras quickly replies to Mei. "We might have a few props. More wooden swords, but maybe that's good for learning? Well, maybe except for not having the right weight. But maybe it would work." He thinks a bit, "I could ask next time we get together. Rosie would know."
Aurora nudges Malvyn. "A picnic could be nice. Should we start to ask the others? It might take a bit to get things arranged though. And we're all going to have classes tomorrow." She shurgs, "But I'm game to try it!"
The crowd of students seems to be thinning out. Quentillius and Rubina had disappeared. Zanther notes he wants to head out so he can make it back to the gym later. "I'm sure we'll see you soon Guardok!"
"Yes, nothing spectacular, we just bring something to drink and relax together in the commons." The purple-skinned tiefling says with a small smile to the pierced raven-haired performer. He then makes his way around to the others present, inviting them to come along for a modest and pleasantly simple get-together in the park, then returning to Aurora to take her there, first staying at a place of her choice to pick up whatever she would want for that.

"So tell us, Mei. And be honest. Did you know you would pass?", he asks the diviner, completely seriously.
