"I think I'll pass this time, the exam took a bit out of me. But I think we have rescheduled our little musical number, right Aurora? We didn't get a chance to do it earlier, and with all the studying and such it's been too hectic. When are we shooting for now? Later this week?" Mae stood next to Larine but looked over at Aurora with a small smile.
Aurora nods to Malvyn, "We could pick up some snacks or something." She suggests to the tiefling that they see what might be found at the little store inside the Firejolt Cafe.
As Meireturns to the dorms to get her tea set, Cadoras offers to come with her. "I can help. You wouldn't want me to pick out anything! But I can carry stuff!"
Larine, talking to Mae, looked a little reticent about the idea. When Maementions she is going to pass, Aurora responds. "Yes! We are on for Wednesday! Everyone should come to the Bow's End for it! Shouldn't be too crowded that night."
Guardoktoo had offered to come. (And perhaps Knap?)
Aurora suggests, "How about we meet up in roughly an hour. At the Commons?" Unless anyone objects, everyone heads off and collects whatever they intend to bring. In just about an hour, you all head back to the Commons to find a spot to relax and enjoy your picnic.
Guardok retrieves his lute so he can provide a bit of musical entertainment during the picnic.
(OOC: @DM - what is happening with regards our feedback about the black goo and looking into the creatures that could match the footprint? Should we be asking the Professor (can't remember which one))
The purple-skinned tiefling isn't quite sure who was coming and who was not in the end but it would soon be apparent. He gives the others a small wave and a smile as ventures to take Aurora's hand to walk over to the Firejolt cafe to pick up anything she would want for the picnec. Having a work at the Biblioplex had it's advantages, for the first time in his life he had a steady if not large income and he couldn't think of a better way to spend it than enjoying it with his friends.
Later out in the commons he finds a nice spot in the afternoon sun where he sits down together with the pierced raven-haired performer to unpack what they had collected. "So wednesday then, I'm looking forward to that, will be interesting to hear what kind of music the two of you will make together." Malvyn says with sincere curiosity.
"Yes, Wednesday," Aurora tells Malvyn. "I'm sure Mae would be glad to have you and all the rest of your floormates there to hear." She gives the tiefling a smile. "Really, it will just be fun. I'm looking forward to it." She then looks about for a few appropriate items to bring to snack on at their picnic, makes a quick trip back to her room, then heads back with Malvyn.
After an hour, the group reconvenes back at the Commons. Cadoras and Aurora join Mei, Malvyn, Guardok, and Knapfor some light snacks, fruits, and tea. It's a chance to have a brief celebration for completing their first exam. There are certainly a number of songs from Aurora with her flute, Guardokwith his lute, and from anyone else that wants to entertain the group. Inevitably the discussion touches on the events now back more than a week with the frogs. You'd not heard anything back from Professor Lang in that time, though perhaps she was somewhat distracted by the exam a bit just like the students had been. You all resolve to approach her the next day after class. The picnic doesn't linger on too long, as some leave early for activities and others to complete homework. There are classes the next day after all.
The next day, you Magical Physiologies class goes on as usual. Right near the end of class, Professor Lang has the exam papers to hand back to the students. Of course, everyone already knows how they fared, but there is a tiny bit of murmuring as the papers are being distributed. Once class is over, the group of floormates does get a chance to speak with the dryad. (I presume Maeis let in on this as well. And Pierotoo - he is willing to stick around and hear what is said.) "Ah yes, the sample you gave me! We don't have as many results as I'd hoped. It's a long story." As she is speaking, a couple other students come up holding their exam papers. "Professor Lang, we have a few questions." The professor looks at your group, "I'm sorry, I should attend to these students. Could you meet me at my offices after class on Friday? Unfortunately, my schedule isn't really free until then."
Presuming you all agree, the appointment is set for then.
Soon Wednesday arrives with another day of classes and activities. As it gets later in the evening, all of you find yourselves meeting once again at the Bow's End Tavern. Aurora has already started her set for the night, running through a number of her typical songs. As it is getting towards the end of her time, she finishes a piece then calls out to the crowd. "For this next piece, I would like to enlist the help of my friend Mae! Come on up here!"
Several of your friends had joined you tonight - Cadoras, Rubina, Zanther, and even Quentillius. Lesviel had also come to see this performance. You see Greta sitting with another group a short distance away from your table. The place is certainly not packed though with yours being about the largest single group of people tonight.
Malvyn would enjoy the picnic, particularly hearing Aurora and Guardok entertain them, even daring to ask the raven-haired performer to a slow dance in the grass to Guardok's music, staying on as the last leave, seeming in a quite good mood over having passed his first exam. He would take the opportunity to really congratulate his room mate on his impressive feat, also remembering to discreetly ask the botanist satyr if he by any chance could help him get some nice flowers for Aurora for wednesday, preferably black dahlias, and some flowers for Mae too of course that would match her radiance. He would also make sure everyone knows about Aurora's and Mae's performance on wednesday, later even mentioning it too Mina Lee and Drazhomir Yarnask.
It is with some level of pride the purple-skinned tiefling recieves his exam paper. Although clearly eager to speak to Professor Lang about the results from the testing of the sample he reluctantly agrees to seeing her on friday, which seemed really far away as he leaves the class.
True to his regular routines, Malvyn would probably have escorted Aurora to the tavern earlier on, taking a table near the stage for all the friends. As Aurora invites the radiant aasimar onto the stage he looks over at Mae and claps his hands to cheer her on. If Knap would have been able to help him with the flowers he would have asked his roomie to get them to the tavern too, thanking him profusely for his help.
Mae went over to listen in on the plans for the investigation, but had nothing to offer since she hardly knew what was going on. She made a mental note to join the group later that week if they needed her, but otherwise found the dismissal easy enough.
Mae most certainly had invited Larine to come see the performance Wednesday night. She found herself both a bit excited and a bit nervous, which was not unusual, even for a regular performer like herself. She drank plenty of water earlier and kept mostly to herself that day in preparation. She had sat off to the side a bit, her fingers sliding over her drum slowly. She had elected to wear a rather colorful outfit, no doubt looking to be a stark contrast to Aurora's usual darker attire. Her hair was done lavishly as well, face painted simply though, some small attributing to the frogs as well. When Aurora announced her, she blushed a little and made her way to the stage...
Mei returns just in time to the table, her arms full of drinks for everyone. The dreamer still struggles with feeling like she's bothering the waitstaff, having been engrained with hosting etiquette at home, and forgets they can just call one over to order.
A miracle the drinks safely reach their destination, she sets each down and asks, "Can I get anyone anything el--OH! Mae's up!" and forgets the line of thought entirely as she scoots happily into her chair. With a little cheer, she applauds their floormate as she joins Aurora on the stage.
Larine had arrived a bit later than many of the others, coming over to where Maesat. "You look really amazing tonight Mae!" So long as the aasimar allowed, she had sat off to the side, closer to Mae.Mina Lee had arrived shortly before Maehad been called to the stage, greeting Malvynand thanking him for inviting her. She settles in to a spot at the table, although she finds herself mostly sitting quietly. Drazhomir shuffles in even as Maehas already made her way to the stage. "Sorry I'm running late," he says softly to Malvyn. "Took a wrong turn trying to get here."
Once Maeis on stage, Aurora steps to one side to give space for the woman to stand beside her. "Did you want to say something about the piece?" Aurora asks Mae, although she speaks loudly enough for the audience to hear. "The subject matter might be familiar to some of you," she adds, pointedly looking towards the table of floormates. As Maelooks out, you certainly are aware of the cheers from Meiand your floormates. Most of the audience seems to have paused to focus their curiosity on this newcomer joining the more familiar performer. You can pick out one or two that are clearly enamored by your outfit and appearance. You don't quite see where Larine has gotten too though as Aurora shifts the attention to you.
Mae walked over on the stage, drum in hand, taking a long moment to look out at the crowd, feeling oddly unsettled probably just from nerves. She forced a smile at everyone and then shifted her drum into position. "Oh, there isn't much to say I think. It was just a random idea that came to me after the frog racing incident. Um, and Aurora and I put it together in a little song here." She looked once more for Larine, frowning slightly when she didn't see where she went, but then closed her eyes and took a deep breath, before nodding at Aurora to begin the song...
As Maelooked back out at the crowd before starting to sing, she did catch sight of Larine back near the spot she'd been sitting - just a bit away from her other friends. Perhaps she just hadn't seen her before. As she mentions the 'frog racing incident' there are a few murmurs throughout the crowd.
Taking the cue, Aurora starts to play her hurdy gurdy, accompanying Maeon her song. The crowd grows quiet to listen.
The purple-skinned tiefling gives Mina a wave and a smile as he notices her joining the crowd and he gives his Biblioplex colleague Drazhomir a nod and a smile as he too arrives. "No problem, you just made it." He says, motioning to the gentle minotaur for a nearby seat.
Malvyn smiles as he hears the beginning of the lyrics, curious to hear how tight the musical performance would be considering the short rehearsal they had. There was no doubt they made a stunning couple on stage, the pure and radiant aasimar and what could be described as her dark counterpart, quite a sight.
Aurora plays a bit of a bridge on her hurdy gurdy as Maeaccompanies her with her drum. It's a fairly upbeat tune, a bit different than much of what she usually plays. Finishing the phrase, she glances towards the aasimar for her to continue with the words.
Most of the crowd has stopped to hear the song. A couple of small whistles and cheers come from here and there as they clearly pick up on the reference to the recent event at the Firejolt Cafe. Mina had found a seat not too far from Malvyn's before the performance starts. And Drazhomir slips rapidly into a spot immediately where he had been standing, looking a bit embarrassed that the show had already begun.
Mae nodded slightly at Aurora, thrumming her hand drum some more, building up a small bit more tension and excitement with the tempo. Her golden voice, warm but spirited now grew bolder as she got into the song, her natural glow returning.
The verses that followed recounted the crazy race, the colorful costumes and the wild crowd cheering them on, followed by the terrifying change that overcame the frogs, turning them into monsters instead, and the valiant stand that a brave group of students made, defending the cafe and each other. Curiously perhaps, she neglected to mention herself being there, but quickly wrapped up the song and gestured to Aurora and thanked her.
Maeand Aurora seem to be in perfect sync as they play and sing. The piece manages to name each one of the floormates - except perhaps Maeherself - as it weaves an intriguing tale. The crowd enthusiastically applauds at the conclusion. Taking a bow, Aurora makes sure to acknowledge the aasimar. "Our songwriter tonight was also our singer! Let's give her another round of applause to Maeleve! It's been so much fun to put this together. And that it for me tonight folks!"
Once the applause dies down, Aurora nods to Maeto follow her off stage.
Mei too is glad to join and returns to the dorms to fetch her tea set, various flavors of tea, and numerous pillows.
"I think I'll pass this time, the exam took a bit out of me. But I think we have rescheduled our little musical number, right Aurora? We didn't get a chance to do it earlier, and with all the studying and such it's been too hectic. When are we shooting for now? Later this week?"
