Stepping into the chaotic kitchen again, the fiery-red eyes of the purple-skinned tiefling goes wide as he watches the petite oracle bravely grab the steamy imp to save the others. He hesitates briefly, not wanting her to get more hurt but the creature would surely keep hurting Mei if he didn't do anything, so he swftly places his hex on the steamy impish creature before blasting it with a purple beam of eldritch crackling force, ready to magically heal the dreamer as soon as the creature was dealt with.
Bonus action: Place Hex (Dex) on remaining Mephit Eldritch Blast: 18 Force: 12 Necrotic: 4
Mei manages to grasp hold of Steam Mephit 4 and drags it 10 ft further away from the door they had entered and away from the hapless revived student cook.
Malvynthen launches his burst of crackling energy and hit squarely hits Steam Mephit 4. The creature explodes a cloud stem. (Meimust make a DEX Save DC 10 or take 8 fire damage, half on success)
Mae's frosty star was ready, but not needed. (Consider it not used.) No more mephits remain in the room.
As the group looks about, the various friends which were working on the swarms had done a good job of eradicating most of them. The few that remained seem to be scurrying off or meeting their demise at the hands of various spells. Quite soon, none remain, and no real sign of their presence remains.
Hair frazzled and frizzed as though hit by a sudden explosion of humidity, Mei blinks and wobbles on her feet with a little laugh, "I... think I prefer steamy romance novels," before her eyes roll back and she collapses to the floor.

"NO...MEI..."Malvyn cries out as the petite oracle collapses to the kitchen floor, throwing himself on his knees by her side. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." He babbles as he tries to focus to channel the warm energies of healing though his clawed hands and into the purple-haired dreamer. "Come on Mei...we still have a mystery to solve..." He keeps on babbling almost incoherently, desperately waiting for the magic to take effect.
Guardok watches Mei selflessly drag the mephit away from the innocent cook, and pride swells within him toward her. That feeling is quickly replace by worry though, as the mephit explodes and Mei drops, although her sense of humour remains intact.
Mal is first to reach her, and looks to be healing her, so he stays back and checks on the nearest of the other victims.
Medicine: 1+4=5(OOC: oh no, he can't find a pulse and they aren't breathing, they are dead!!!)
Lost only briefly in a strangely peaceful sleep she's not known since her sixth birthday, Mei stirs at Malvyn's magic.
"That feels nice," she mumbles at the warmth she comes to consciousness with, soothing the splotchy burns across her face and claw marks along her back. Her lashes flutter open and she cocks her head at sight of the tiefling's worried red eyes above her then at the kitchen ceiling past them. "Did I... fall asleep again?"

The look of deep worry in the fiery red eyes shifts into relief and a toothy grin comes to the purple-skinned tiefling. "If you did it was the most untimely situation so far I've seen you do that in." He says with a relieved chuckle. "But no, I'm afraid your dream, or rather nightmare, just came true in a sense, we had another incident, this one in the tavern kitchen, just as you said. You were very brave carrying off one of the little nasty steamy critters to save the others. And then I almost killed you..." Malvyn trails off, letting more healing energies pour over the petite oracle, as his gives a look of anguish over nearly having done something dreadful.
Mae grimaces when the last mephit explodes and Mei slumps to the floor, tears beginning to well up in her eyes some, but seeing Mal rush over before she can even move, and the other having everything else well in hand, she keeps moving back some before attempting to make her way back out of the tavern.
Knap swallows the sick feeling that creeps from the deep water’s of his stomach. He composes himself, remembers the injured. He goes to assist the fallen, grabbing any salts or alcohols or herbs within the kitchen that might help. medicine: 21
Cadoras leaps over one of the tables as he sees Meifall to the ground. Being on the other side of the room, she is already starting to recover from Malvyn'shealing by the time he reaches the group. "What happened?" he exclaims. "You... you're ok?" Although she doesn't leap over any tables, Lesviel also comes over, looking worried.
The halfling student that Meihad revived early peeks out from where she'd been cowering. She gives Mei an awestruck look. "Did you just... tackle that creature to keep it away from me?"
Although Knap'sexamination of Meiwas not particularly successful, he moves towards one of the other incapacitated students. He sees a variety of herbs that he knows would be good for reviving the unconscious. He gets one back awake and then moves on to help a second student cook. The fourth student is being attended to by Mina Lee and is soon sitting up.
Aurora and Rubina walk over to the other floormates. "Is everyone else alright?" Rubina asks. "What a wild way to end the night," Aurora says, shaking her head. "You're really good at hiding behind doors Mal," she adds in a joking voice. Coming up to him, she gives him a soft pat on the shoulder. A lot more quietly she tells him, "I'm glad you're not hurt."
Javenish makes his way into the kitchen, along with the orc manager of the Bow's End, Tulk. Curtie is trailing behind them. "Oh! The kitchen is a mess!" Tulk glances back at her. "I'm more concerned about the injured students. Let's make sure they are alright first."
Mei's skin cools as the blisters and burns slowly fade beneath Malvyn's magic. She smiles back at the tiefling as he speaks, its curve fading as his does. "You didn't, Mal," she urges as the moment comes back to her foggy mind. She sits up too quickly and her head swims. "I-It wasn't your fault. I just didn't get out of the way in time."
She catches Cadoras leaping over a table in her periphery, the warmth in her face nothing to do with the mephit. "Ah, yes! I-I'm fine!" she squeaks as he arrives. "I think my uniform got the worst of it." Making light, she tries to twist to see the ripped fabric at her back, but stops to look worriedly between Cadoras and Lesviel. "Are you all okay?"
When the halfling student speaks up, Mei rubs at her cheek. "Oh, well... I didn't want it to explode on you too. That was a nasty little trick they had. Are you alright? I'm Mei, by the way!"
"Your uniform?" Cadoras says, dumbfounded as he'd just seen Malvynheal the burns and claw marks. "You are certainly a selfless woman Mei! Saving that poor damsel." He does nod his head at Mei'squestion though. "Yes, we're all fine. Those little pests were not much of a menace."
The halfling is still looking at Meiwith amazement. "My name? Oh, I'm Safira.Stonebelly," she says shyly.
Maeslips out the door of the kitchen and just avoid running directly into Larine. "Ah!" she says. "You're safe! I mean..." She steps back, looking at her. "You weren't hurt were you? I... Well, I mean, I'd have hated it if you were hurt."
Mae shows Larine her arm and upper chest a bit where the mephit at slashed her earlier, still stinking from the heated blow. "I'm safe, just a little singed is all. I'll be okay. Ready to get out of here now?"
Mei blushes beneath Cadoras' praise and slowly pushes to her feet, still a bit wobbly. "Thank the Stars," she says of them being fine, her relief palpable as she hugs Cadoras and squeezes Lesviel's hand. "And thank you for coming to help. Things would've been a lot worse if you hadn't."
Remembering how things had been, she leans back and looks frantically around. "Where's Guardok? Is he okay?" Spotting just a sliver of the genasi around a table as he helps another student, she whispers two words of healing that weave their way to him. As wisteria blossoms bloom across his wounds, he likely knows just who they're from.
Mei then walks over to Safira and offers out a hand to help her up, smiling brightly. "Nice to meet you, Safira! I'm so glad you're okay. Do you... remember how it all started? Curtie--" Mei glances at the cook, "--said something about spice?" She glances around the kitchen, trying to tell where things might've began.
Guardok is looking worried as he examines one of the fallen cooks, but thankfully Knap arrives to help. He breathes a sigh of relief as he had feared the worse until then.
He takes a seat on the floor for a moment, touching the cracked stone of his skin where the steam explosions had caught him, and the gouges where one of mephitis had connected with a claw.
As he is touching the claw wound, he notices the blossoms and instantly starts to feel better, as Mei heals him. He leans across so he can see Mei clearly, and smiles, then gives her the ok symbol.
When Tulk and Curtie enter the kitchen, levers himself up and wanders over to join Mei with the dwarven chef.
"One of the elemental creatures said they had been disturbed, that was why they attacked. What was going on in here? Anything different to normal? Anyone different to normal? What about spice?", he enquires, his questions coming as a stream of thoughts. "The elementals and bugs at the same time seem to be a bit more than a coincidence", he adds.
"I didn't want it to--" Mei starts to explain, holding the mephit at arm's length as the frosty star hits, "--e-explode on her."
