“I’ll join you, magnificent Mal.” Knap says whilst deep down thinking more likemysterious Malvyn. The satyr pockets the assortment of dinner leftovers and lethargically peels himself from his chair.
"Mei, I think regular dinner meets are a grand idea. And, I'm ready for bed."
As much of the group starts to get up to head back upstairs, you notice Lesviel hurriedly come into the Dining Hall along with another boy. Both are wearing a different sort of uniform, most of you don't recognize. They make directly for the area where they were serving food. They grab a few items - fruits it seems, perhaps something else - then hurries back out of the Dining Hall.
Eventually everyone makes their way back upstairs. And to their rooms.
For Guardok:
When you arrive back in your room, you prepare to settle in. when you realize that there is a backpack sitting on the bed that would belong to your roommate. After another moment you also notice that your roommate's wardrobe door is slightly ajar.
(OOC - Trying to keep things moving along. Please feel free to post anything your characters might have wanted to wrap up in the Dining Hall before coming up. Or anything they might want to do before getting to sleep for tomorrow's Orientation.)
Mae had long finished by the time the workers were moving about to start their clean up, so once it was suggested that they retire for the night she was quite amicable to the suggestion. "I'm sure I'd be glad to see you all most days, I think it helps having a group to be able to come back to, share things with perhaps." Mae will then gladly walk with anyone, or no one, back up to her room and get herself ready for bed.
Malvyn briefly makes a face as the satyr calls him magnificent Mal, having a hard time seeing any sincerity in it and not quite understanding why he would call him that. Noticing Lesviel and her trumpet boy briefly appear in the dining hall, the purple-skinned tiefling turns to Knap and Guardok. "Oh yes, while visiting the Biblioplex earlier I stopped and listened to some sort of instrumental rehearsal on the lawn in front of it. I'm not able to tell if they were any good but they seemed to enjoy making music together, I'm sure they would welcome you both. And I specifically noticed them tuning their instruments as they started." He finishes with a quick grin.
He would then levitate upstairs with the others, with noticable less anxiety this time, maybe he would master levitating by his own will in time. He then bids the others a good night, even Knap, explaining he would visit the study room for some light reading to get ready for rest and not wanting to disturb the satyr in his. He would then go over to the study room, closing the door and as soon as things quieted down in the central chamber, he would again pick up the book he started reading earlier and find a comfortable seat by the window, reading just a bit more, just to make sure how it ended...
Eventually he would quietly sneak back to room 403 and slip into his bed, doing his best not to disturb the sleeping satyr, quickly being drawn into vivid dreams about all his floor mates, waking up early after his dreams turns excessively weird, with his floor mates marching through the Biblioplex, all playing bagpipes, wading in spilt coffee, leading an endless line of maracas playing devils. Malvyn suddenly sits up in his bed with a sharp inhale and looks over at his still sleeping satyr roomie. calming down and realizing he had been dreaming, he then lies back down, chuckling quitly to himself. Surely nothing weird would happen in a place like this.
Mellori ate most of her food, with a little of each left neatly on her plate. It is impossible to tell if this is some form of politeness, or if she had simply eaten enough. And she ate all of her meal with her hands, her cutlery remaining unused, although she frequently used napkin to dab her mouth and wipe her hands.
Stifling a yawn, she nods at the various suggestions and stands up from the table, also ready to go back to her room. "Long day, and tomorrow will be just as tiring, I bet,"she offers. "So a decent night's sleep is calling me - after a short bed-time read of course."And with that, she heads upstairs with Mei.
Guardok follows everyone else's lead and finishes his food and makes his way back up to their fourth floor dorm rooms, interested to see whether Piero has turned up yet. Spotting the backpack on the other bed, and noticing the wardrobe door ajar, he pops his head back out into the corridor to see where Piero might be.
If he doesn't see a likely suspect, he wanders around and peaks into the study room, finding only Mal there.
"Sorry, didn't mean to disturb your reading. Night buddy", he says quietly and closes the door before heading on to the lounge area.
Having waited for Mellori to fall asleep--a difficult task given her own borderline narcolepsy--Mei quietly exits the room with a pillow and blanket in hand. Struggling to keep her eyes open, she slowly shuffles her bunny slippered feet like the undead into the lounge and promptly flops down onto a sofa. This far away from their room, her roommate will at least get the decent night's sleep she was hoping for, as no night of sleep is a decent one for Mei nor those sharing a room with her.
The petite wizard curls into herself, eyes drifting to the large window and the nightscape view beyond. As tired as she is, it's easy enough to pretend she's simply dreaming--that this height isn't one she can fall from and so there's nothing scary about it.
Though, indeed, she does soon fall. Down, down, down and into the dark of the Dreaming.
Tonight is no different than the others of late. The Dreams greet her with pain and death.
Guardotdoesn't see any trace of his still unseen roommate. He passes the lounge long before Meihad finally made her way out there, as she waited for Mellorito fall asleep. Knap is asleep on the floor while Malvynhas his sleep with vivid dreams. Maeand Chara both sleep restfully. (OOC - Just presuming for Chara since haven't heard anything. Feel free to adjust if Chara wanted to do something different.)
Meishifts restlessly in her Dreaming sleep. Though from her spot in the lounge it doesn't disturb anyone. With a small shriek (not enough to awaken other characters), she's suddenly awake. As her senses slowly take in where she's at, she notices a tall elf with long blond hair come over to her. "Is everything alright? Why are you here in the lounge?" You slowly realize it's Lesviel, still wearing her same uniform from earlier in the Dining Hall.
For Mei:
You recall a particularly vivid Dream: Moving through various places, both wild natural spaces, manicured gardens, deserted ruins, and elaborate halls you saw a strange darkness. You recall bizarre humanoids with features that escape your memory. Something was chasing you, though you couldn't quite see it. Most vivid was a squat creature that was all teeth. You remember a building with vast open spaces and a high ceiling. Just as the teeth were about to lunge at someone, you came awake.
Mei shoots up, breathless as she glances around to anchor herself to the Here and Now and out of the Dreaming. Beads of sweat trail her temples and her chest heaves with panting breaths as she looks up at the elf. "L-Lesviel?" she rasps as she wipes at the tears streaking her face, voice hoarse and thick with sleep. "I--oh, I just... I'm a bad sleep-talker and I, um... I just didn't want to disturb Mellori," she hedges, her grip on the blanket white-knuckled. "Are you only just getting back?"
The remnants of the Dream gnaw at her mind and a shiver shakes her shoulders. Teeth. So many teeth.
Lesviel looks a little embarrassed by the question. "Yes," she says tentatively. "I was just getting back and heard you as I passed. You might be worried about disturbing others, but what about your own sleep? Surely it isn't as comfortable out here as in your room." The elf looks Mei over, giving her a concerned look. "I guess you're fine out here tonight. But we should figure something out for you." Leviel is about to head along to her room, then asks, "Are you sure you're alright?"
Assuming Meiis settled back down, everyone tries to return to sleep.
The morning soon comes and there is plenty of time for breakfast and to make the walk to the Biblioplex. You all recall Lesviel saying to meet her there at 10am. For the most part you don't hear a lot of noise from the other floors. But there are unmistakable sounds of activity that filter through. You can see other students in their Strixhaven uniforms walking about the campus. Today most of them appear to be first-year students.
(OOC - Feel free to post morning activity and getting to the Biblioplex. We'll pick up from there. Lesviel does not arrive until about 15 minutes to 10am, if anyone gets there early.)
"I..." Mei audibly swallows. She considers, however briefly, telling the truth. But instead, she constructs a smile upon her lips, "I'm alright! I'm used to it by now--my sisters always sent me to the sofa at home too. 'Mei, you were talking about knitting kitty mittens in your sleep again!'" She says, mimicking her sisters and adding a warm laugh for good measure.
"I hope you get some rest too though. And, um... Lesviel? Thank you..." her gaze turns meaningful as she regards the silhouette of their RA in the moonlit room. For asking. "For all your help today."
Watching the elf depart, Mei settles back down onto the sofa, replaying what she remembers of the Dream. It takes longer this time, but, eventually, her lids grow heavy and the feeling of being chased follows her into sleep.
(OOC - sorry! Didn't see the second post until I replied just now!)
The window lightens with morning sun. Knap stirs dozing in that little place between sleep and wake. He’s excited about the day ahead. Orientation. It might be nice to feel orientated for once. He’s felt disoriented since he and his cousins, uncles and aunties were moved from a little plot of fey paradise, which also happened to be an undiscovered but convenient crossroad. He seethed at the thought of the Seelie Court striking a pact with outsiders to develop it as a commercial portal. Today begins his efforts to win his pond lands back.
The sun was high enough and worry had begun to seep into that half-dream place so Knap thought it would be good to get up from his bedroll and get on with the day. He takes his lunch tin from the shelf above his desk. He takes out the leftover dinner insects from last night and places them on the windowsill. The then raises a palm hand up to check the weather. Hopefully no sudden snow storms or wild heat waves?
Knap then goes to wash up and get changed into his uniform and top hat (scuffed).Knap announces in a low but audible tone “Hey Malvyn, I’m just going to go for breakfast. I’ll see you all there or out the front of Dresar hall soon.”
Mae felt as though she could finally sleep peacefully, like she rarely got to do back home. While her muted dreams took her through various stages and performances, glimmers of her former life, by the time she woke up they had been laid to rest just as she had rested. When she woke up with the dawn her natural golden glow had returned along with her zest for life. She took a deep breath of the morning air coming in through the window and looked over to see if Chara was awake and ready to go down for breakfast, before heading down herself. She had put on her student's robes again, which were not her favorite, but she wasn't about to tempt the administration by flaunting herself with other clothing options. Still, she did add a small blue barrette to her hair to keep some of her hair back and a small sapphire ring to her left hand. Upon arriving downstairs at the breakfast area she looked around for her fellow floor-mates.
Guardok heads to bed, a little confused as to where Piero went, but a little relieved that he had at least turned up. It takes a little time to get to sleep after all the excitement of coming to Strixhaven and meeting new friends, but when he falls he sleeps deeply. As has been his routine for many years, his body naturally wakes him early. Plenty to do when you are in a circus, and no time to laze about.
But here, there really wasn't that much to do. No tidying to do or animals to feed or performances to prepare for. He rolls onto his side, leans on his elbow and looks to the other bed to see if it is occupied.
"Hey Piero, you there?", he asks tentatively. Just at that moment, a rumbling sound emits from his stomach. "Breakfast time", he adds.
Earlier last night as Guardok peeked into the study room he would see the purple-skinned tiefling look up like he was caught doing something he shouldn't, quickly shutting the book he was reading. "Yes...good night...buddy."He finally says a bit awkwardly as the genasi is closing the door again.
In the morning, Malvyn lies back in his bed, sleeping in his underpants, going through yesterdays many events again and again, feeling fairly satisfied with how his first day had went, feeling more confident with taking on this day in the company of his floor mates. Orientation day, he didn't know what it would hold for them, but the fact that they were supposed to meet by the Biblioplex was certainly promising. "Yes, I'll be right down." He answers the satyr as the latter leaves room 403. Malvyn then gets up and efficiently washes up and puts on his first-year uniform. He had tried it on a couple of times and he found it didn't quite fit the way his own purple robes did and it exposed his purple tail in a way that made hima bit uncomfortable but he would likely get used to it in time. His dark hair still slightly moist, the tiefling then puts on his shoulder bag, checking on the precious book within before leaving his room and levitating downstairs to find himself some breakfast and a seat with the others.
Mellori awoke promptly and saw that Mei was not in her bed. She felt a strange sense wash over her - something she was not used to. One day she might appreciate it as disappointment as she initially assumed her room-mate had gone down to breakfast without her. Her logical brain told her that Mei could be a very early riser and was being thoughtful in not waking Mellori. But that feeling wouldn't go away.
Shaking her head, she dressed in her uniform once more and readied herself to go downstairs.
Mellori might notice that all of Mei's things are still there: her tarot cards resting on the bedside table and her uniform still hung up on the outside of the wardrobe. The only items missing from her side are the duvet and one of her many pillows.
Mei, still asleep in the lounge, unconsciously pulls said duvet up over her head at the increasing activity on the fourth floor, becoming a blanket burrito on the sofa. She's more than happy to trade breakfast for more time to sleep.
“I’ll join you, magnificent Mal.” Knap says whilst deep down thinking more like mysterious Malvyn. The satyr pockets the assortment of dinner leftovers and lethargically peels himself from his chair.
"Mei, I think regular dinner meets are a grand idea. And, I'm ready for bed."

One by one, people head down to breakfast. Knap, Mae, and Guardok at least, and they soon spot each other in what seems like a light morning crowd.
