Guardok stands there a little fidgety, patience obviously isn't a strong point of his.
"Maybe we should go and have a peak inside? Or see where that teleportation circle goes?", he goes suggests to the others. "We don't have to go too far. Anyone know how long is left before Lesviel said to meet her?".
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
For some reason the purple-skinned tiefling found himself troubled by Mellori and Mei not being there yet. It was still some time and it wasn't like he would be held responsible if they were late, but all the same, somehow it felt that they all belonged together now and that lateness of some would reflect poorly on them all. He frequently glances nervously over towards Dresar Hall but as Guardok mentions going inside he turns to the genasi. "Better stay here, I think the orientation starts soon now. I suppose we could take a closer look at where the Firbolg vanished..." Malvyn agrees and walks over by the circle in the pavement. "...but better not step inside." He adds with a grin to the genasi, then studying the circle with great interest. Transpositional magic held a particular interest to him as it would hopefully one day allow him to visit the far realms he had yet only studied in old tomes.
Arcana to find out more about the magical circle: 11
After a conversation with Mellori in which it was insisted the other wizard not miss breakfast on her account, Mei takes a brisk shower to rouse herself to some semblance of wakefulness and spends some time realigning her intuition with the spelldeck. Repeatedly, the Tower and reversed Devil cards come to her hand despite calling for others--chaos is coming, explore dark thoughts--no doubt in response to the Dream. A bad feeling circles like a vulture overhead.
Once finished preparing her spells, Mei twirls her still-damp hair into a messy bun atop her head and dresses in a rush, looking especially tousled for it. The clock strikes 9:51 as she hurries out of Dresar and towards the Biblioplex to meet the others, her day starting off incredibly wrong-footed.
And not just because she'd forgotten to switch out of her bunny slippers.
Malvyn, and presumably Guardok, step over to the circle. Malvyn realizes that this must be a permanent teleportation circle. However, it does seem different than others, but he can't quite put his finger on it.
At about a quarter to 10, Lesviel arrives. She spots you all. "Good morning. Hmm, we still waiting for Mei, Mellori, and Piero? Did any of you meet him last night? Evidently he finally checked in."
"I met his backpack, but it wasn't very talkative", Guardok says lightheartedly as he returns from the teleportation circle, before becoming a little more serious. "I think he must have come to the room while we were at dinner and dropped off his things, but he had gone by the time I got back and it didn't look like he stayed in our room for the night".
He looks around and shrugs, "I still don't even know what he looks like".
Mellori, pleased that she ensured her room-mate did not miss the orientation, returns to her room and grabs her bag before heading down to breakfast.
Eating alone, she grabs some cereal (which for once she eats with a utensil - in this case a spoon), buttered toast and a cup of tea and eats and drinks quickly before heading to join the others at the Biblioplex.
Slightly out of breath and a little stressed at being so close to the prescribed time, she none the less greets the others with a wide smile. "Sorry I'm late. Well, not exactly late, but late for me. As in, I like to be early and so being on time feels like being late, even though it's not. If you see what I mean. Rambling? Yes. Will stop now."
Finishing up his studies of the magical circle, Malvyn looks up as Lesviel joins them on the stairs in front of the Biblioplex, chuckling as Guardok mentions the talkativeness of Piero's backpack. He then smiles as Mei and Mellori arrives, finding himself more relaxed when his floories were all gathered. Floorie, was that a word? He keeps smiling as words start tumbling out of Mellori's mouth and gives Mei an amused look, making brief eye contact and then looking down at her peculiar but posssibly quite fashionable slippers. Still, the tiefling was quite certain they were not part of the standard issue first year uniform. "Will we wait for Piero then?" He asks Lesviel in a polite tone, stepping closer to the others, trying to not show just how eager he was to enter the Bibliplex.
"Nope, haven't seen Piero either," Knap says, looking a little accustomed to wearing a uniform and still unable to make full eye contact with Lesviel. Knap then notices Mei and Mellori arrive and a sense of relief washes over him; he’d hate for anyone to miss out on the first day. “Hey Mei, Hey Mellori.” He waves hello, and noticing Mellori a little flushed adds an extra flourish to the wave, accompanied by a sweet druidic phrase that causes the new arrivals to be greeted with puff of refreshing wind.
“I’m happy to wait for Piero, but like Guardok says, we don’t really know who we’re looking for.”
Mae gives the arrivals a smile and wave, happy to see everyone (besides the mysterious Piero) had arrived and were just about ready to head into the Biblioplex. The sight of a unique teleportation circle was certainly interesting, although since one had already investigated it she might just leave it for later, and the magical stairs were certainly a unique sight. She did her best to commit what she could to memory, so that later she could turn her experiences into a new song or performance. She half smiled to herself and giggled slightly at Knap adding his flourish to his greeting in particular to Mellori. It was charming, though she admitted to herself that it was better Mellori than Mae.
Lesviel notes Malvyn looking at the circle. "The Biblioplex is equipped with these circles on all the floors. You just think of the floor you wish to go to and you are teleported to a circle on that floor." She pauses a moment, starting to turn to the others asking questions before pausing. "Oh yes, students are prohibited from the second floor, the Advanced Student Stacks, unless granted permission. And that usually only with your final thesis. No, I dint have access."
"As for Piero," she pauses a moment looking about until she spots a clock. "I've not seen him, but just saw he signed in. And we will wait until 10. But at 10 we'll proceed if he's not here."
Basically as she says this, the clock tower rings, signaling 10 o'clock.
The thought of not having admittance to the second floor until final thesis troubled Malvyn, he had to find a way to the restricted tomes much sooner that that, somehow. The purple-skinned tiefling's curiosity over the mysterious Piero also keeps growing. "Signed in, over at Dresar Hall you mean?" He asks Lesviel, looking around to see if anyone wearing a first-year uniform is approaching from the direction of their dormitories. "Whoever he turns out to be it would seem he stays a mystery for now." He finally adds with a shrug, looking to Lesviel to see if it was finally time to enter the Biblioplex.
"Sorry, sorry!" The wind is a welcome refreshment as Mei tries to catch her breath. "It was... my fault," she pants in explanation of Mellori's later-than-usualness. "She saved me from... being late."
At mention of Piero's continued absence, and with the threat in the Dream still prickling at the edges of her mind, the young diviner's brow furrows as she nibbles at her lower lip in worry.
"Well, I guess my mysterious roomie is late", Guardok says as the clock strikes 10. "I'll fill him in on what he missed when he turns up, let's go".
With that he starts to walk towards the Bibliolex purposefully before he realises he has no idea where he should go, and turns around to look at Lesviel and the others expectantly.
Mellori's fluster over, she settles down and listens to the others, eager to start lessons, which in turn means she is aware she has to first do the orientation.
"Let's go,"she adds, somewhat superfluously and looks at Lesviel for greater guidance.
Lesviel nods to Malvyn's question. "Yes, signed in at Dresar Hall. Got his room key and such." She sighs. "But it seems nobody has actually seen him. Anyhow, the rest of us should head inside."
She walks through the main entrance, expecting the rest to follow. Once inside she points out a small student store to the left (B5) and a little cafe to the right (B6). Just between them you pass one Information Desk and continue on to another just past those areas (B4). Lesviel stops at the one desk, speaks to the woman standing there, and grabs a stack of papers. She then moves to the open space just to the right and pauses. "You can ask the reference librarians here for help with locating books in the public locations or guide you in finding the knowledge you are after. But here I have your class schedules for the coming year!" She calls each of you by name and hands you a paper indicating the classes you will be attending this year.
She waits for a moment for everyone to take a look.
For those that look about, the inside of the Biblioplex seems rather immense. The ceilings throughout this floor are 50 feet high. And just beyond where you stand you can see study areas (B8) featuring simple wooden tables and chairs. Far to the left side a number of students can be seen pulling costumes and props from a half dozen old trunks. Just beyond the study area though are the Main Stacks (B10), floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. They fill the center and east end of the library’s first floor. You notice as students approach the denser east stacks, a magic effect shifts them, creating space to stand single file between them.
Farther to the west end you just make out bits of greenery. (B9)
In the middle of the first floor, between some of the Main Stacks, you glimpse what appears to be a grand hall (B11). Even at a distance you can glimpse a few grand statues standing near the entrance to the chamber.
The purple-skinned tiefling is struck with awe as he enters this sanctum of knowledge, his fiery-red eyes darting taking in the impressive scene as the group finally enters the Biblioplex. He eagerly accepts his schedule, loooking through it with great curiosity, realizing he's somewhat curious who he will have in his classes, not that it should matter much as he expected to be fully focused on his studies. After digesting his class schedule and fully taking in his surroundings, Malvyn raises his hand and asks Lesviel. "Who would one talk to if one happened to be interested in being of service in some capacity here at the Bibliplex." He hopes it is not too apparent how dearly he wants to spend much time here, the others might even think he was overly interested in dusty old tomes.
"Oh, I'm sure you can apply right here! They'll have information at the Information Desk. Ha! Very appropriate," Lesviel says with chuckle. "And the Student Council Hall will have representatives if you want to inquire about employment in other areas of campus like the stadium, intramural fields, campus grounds, or performing arts hall. The cafe, tavern, or dormitories you would have to go there to apply."
Guardok follows Lesviel into the Biblioplex and takes his class timetable. He has a little look around, but he isn't as excited by all the tomes as some people.
"Phew, I'm glad I have time for lunch!", he says out loud as he peruses the sheet.
When talk turns to jobs, he frowns. "I am not so certain I want a job. I guess I'll have to wait and see how much money I need through the term. Perhaps something at the performing arts hall would suit me though".
Malvyn blushes slightly at Lesviel's response, the question felt stupid now but somehow he would have expected something more formal than to submit an application at the information desk if you wanted to take up service in a place like this. "Well, what about the orchestra I mentioned last night?" He says to Guardok, trying to get his thoughts of his own question.
