Mae sat up a little and took Larine's hand encouraging her with a gentle squeeze. "Yes, she is teaching fish to dance to her routine. I think it's coming along rather nicely. Larine is quite graceful in the water." She smiled back over at Larine before looking at Guardok. "Oh nothing new I really, just classes, rehearsals, all that."
Aurora simply returns Malvyn'sgrin with one of her own. "I think you would know if you had plans Mal. But I don't think I have much else aside from the art gala with Mei and Cadoras."
Larine seems a bit embarrassed over the attention to her and her activities. Especially as Maepraises her. "It's... well, I'm working with the fish on my own. But the group is doing a performance in a couple of weeks. I... suppose you could all come."
Mei continues to be distracted as the group chats. Intermittently, she's staring unseeing at a glass or the table or at somewhere off in the distance. Sometimes her fingers rise to press against a specific place on her cheek before she startles back into the present.
She catches the last of what Larine says and gently adds, "That's amazing! Do you study the druidic arts or is it a natural affinity for animals? I can't imagine fish are easy to train."
She'll wait for the waterdancer's answer before addressing the group, "I'm so glad the play went well. You two really stole the show." She leans back and tucks her feet up on the edge of the seat, hugging her arms around her legs. "I have to admit, I was a little nervous that something, um, you know," her brows arch in reference to the incidents on campus, "might happen. But it went off without a hitch! Though, er... I suppose Quentilliusmight not agree."
"Yes, the art gala of course." The purple-skinned tiefling says, smiling over at Mei and Cadoras. It seemed all his friends had found ways to express themselves. Perhaps he should try his clawed hand at painting too some day. "And yes, of course we will come Larine, also the Star should of course report about this to it's readers, perhaps even publish something ahead to get you a large audience." He suggests to Larine with a friendly smile.
"Well, his group of fangirls still seemed to think he was quite amazing on stage, but if reality made him realize he's not really that amazing it is perhaps just for the best, just a little bit of humility there would not hurt him don't you think." Mal comments plainly on what Mei says.
Guardok listens to the talk of dancing fish and art galas, just happy to be amongst his friends as he winds down after the play.
When Mei brings up the performance again, and the potential for something happening, he smiles.
"Sabotaging the play? I hadn't thought of that. I guess they have a few more chances", he says with a frown.
"As does Quentillius. You'll see, he really is a great actor. Even if he does take it a little too seriously sometimes, Well, all the time actually", he adds with a chuckle at the end.
"What time is the art gala? I hope I get to go, but with more performances tomorrow I might not make it", he says a little worried, wanting to support Mei in return.
Mei mirrors Guardok's frown. "Things have just felt a little too quiet lately, don't you think? N-Not that I'm complaining! It just hard not to be... suspicious." The grip around her legs tightens. "You two just be careful, okay? Please? I haven't had any more Dreams, but... maybe I won't since I don't really, um, sleep much anymore." She glances at Aurora, meaning to ask her more about what she said of the Gods earlier.
At mention of the gala, Mei relaxes. "Oh, Stars, don't worry about that! You should be resting when you get the chance! I only just finished a piece to show and it's not anything special, I promise," she waves her hands dismissively with a smile. "I'm just worried about what to wear! I don't suppose we could raid the theater's costume department for some fancy dress, could we?" The subsequent laughter suggests she's mostly kidding. But... surely they wouldn't notice anything not currently used in the play missing?
"You know, I had been too busy to think about it much", Guardok responds to Mei. "But now you mention it, I guess you are right. Do you think whoever it is has decided to lie low seeing as we are on the case?".
He frowns then, realising exactly what she had said, "What do you mean, you don't sleep much anymore?". He thinks back to his classes from the week gone, but they only shared one class: Magical Physiologies, and he couldn't remember whether she had fallen asleep or not.
At mention of costumes, he looks across to Rubina and shrugs. "I won't tell anyone if you won't", he says, a mischievous grin appearing on his face.
"O-Oh! I haven't--I didn't mention--?" Mei asks, realizing just how little she's seen him lately. Shifting up onto her knees--unsure if it should be kept among friends--a few drinks and plates get haphazardly scooted out of the way as she leans in towards the middle of the table. "It happened at midnight in Silkmeadow..." she begins, then fills her floormate in on everything that happened.
"Sooo, I can see in the dark now! And don't really need much sleep anymore! I haven't napped once since we got back, can you believe it?" she grins. "But Aurora said something earlier about it seeming... strange for a deity?"
"Wow", is all Guardok says for a long moment. "I saw nothing of Silkmeadow, was just in and out really. It seems I missed out on some adventure", he adds eventually.
He thinks for a moment, "I can't say as though I know what is normal for a deity, so I really can't say as to what is strange either. I expect everything seems a little strange to mortals like us".
The purple-skinned tiefling ponders what Mei and Guardok discusses. It was indeed some time since the last incident but he doubted Strixhaven had seen the last of these strange occurances. As the petite oracle mentions what to wear at the gala he looks down at his own purple robes, the same ones he had arrived in and the only real dress he had apart from his first year uniform. It was nothing wrong with it but he should definitely get himself something else, perhaps Aurora could give him some advice on what to choose. And then as Mei mentions the night in Silkmeadow he feels awkward over not having told her that he had watched, and somehow it felt too late to tell her now. He scratches his neck and smiles weakly. "I can do some research into Disyn at the Biblioplex if you want Mei. Perhaps it can simply be the name of the magical snarl and that this snarl gave you these arcane blessings?" He suggests as hypothesis.
"The snarl?" she asks, head cocking to one side like a whistled hound. She sits back, oblivious to her sleeves mopping up the condensation from the table. "Oh... that's an interesting theory! I don't know that I've ever heard of snarls having any kind of... consciousness? Though they supposedly birthed the Founder Dragons, so it's certainly not outside the realm of possibility!"
Thinking on that, Mei is briefly distracted by her suddenly wet sleeves and looks up as if it might've rained indoors. Then she adds with a chime of laughter, "Not that I think I'll become a dragon! Butif I did..." and glances at Cadoras. She bares her teeth at the elf with a tiny dragon growl before more laughter cuts it off.
The purple-skinned tiefling smiles at the joke but he knows he needs to know more about this Disyn, even if it meant going back to Silkmeadow. Power seldom comes without some sort of price to pay at some point, he knew that better than most, and he didn't want Mei to walk into something she might regret.
Mae listened as they sat and nibbled and sipped, discussing Maei's new powers and things, keeping half an eye on Larine. "Of course, whatever you need I'll do my best to help. It is a curious turn of events I suppose."
"Well... maybe you all could do the midnight ritual with me? One of her followers gave me a, uh, prayer book of sorts? Maybe you'd feel something too? We did some dancing and singing--it was all quite fun," she says. "Though Guardok and Rubina I'm sure are ready for a good night's sleep!" Mei looks to the thespians, imagining their hectic schedules have surely taken a toll.
The purple-skinned tiefling recalls what he saw inSilkmeadow and there was indeed nothing sinister about the nightly gathering he had witnessed. "Well, nighttime dancing sounds familiar." He whispers to Aurora and grins briefly. "We're coming along for that ritual, right dear?" He then asks the raven-haired performer beside him. He didn't mind staying up late, or the singing and dancing for that matter even if he didn't have much to contribute with himself. He was curious about the prayer book though, maybe it could give a clue about who or what Disyn really was.
Mae shifted a little but smiled still. "Of course, Mei. If you want us there, we will be there for you. Just say when and where." She thought a moment, "Did you mean, like, tonight? Or just like, soon?"She gave a look over at Larine, feeling a bit anxious.

"Oh, druidic... ah, no. I'm not a druid. I just really like animals," Larine replies to Mei. She then turns to Malvyn. "Oh, well, it isn't really necessary, but I'm sure things like that are what the Strixhaven Star does anyway. I guess I'll let you know when it will be. I'm always forgetting."
Rubina smiles at the compliment about the play from Mei. "Thank you. It was really a lot of fun to do the play too. Glad you enjoyed it." She grins at her comment about Quentillius. "Well, if that is the worst that happens, I'm fine with it. I do hope the play is free of mishaps." When Guardoklooks at her regarding borrowing costumes, she shrugs. "I suppose for one night nobody will care."
When Meiand Guardok start to talk about what happened to her in Silkmeadow, Aurora slips in a comment. "I did say that. And I do still think it is odd. But as Mal suggested, perhaps it is something else?"
Cadoras plays at reeling back from the dragon impression Meigives him. He laughs loudly, "It would be AMAZING if you turned into a dragon! Do you really think it's possible? I want in on that too!"
Larine seemed more comfortable once the conversation moved away from her and onto the topic of this Disyn. When a midnight ceremony was suggested, she seemed to shrink up a bit more next to Mae, almost as though hiding behind her. When Maeseems to agree to go and looks over at her, she squints a bit at her, looking a little apprehensive about such a thing.
For her part Rubina was a bit skeptical. "I am sorry, but I do need to get some sleep! I really don't think I could do something like that tonight. As intriguing as it sounds."
Aurora looks at Malvyn, giving a shrug. "I could go. Sounds like a bit of fun no matter what comes of it."
"Oh, w-well, I do it every night so it could be any midnight really," Mei assures Maeleve, seeing both her and Larine's trepidation. Her own anxiety flares a bit as Aurora's comment sinks in. If Disyn isn't a goddess... what is she?
Placing that worry upon a nearly-full shelf in her mind, Mei instead grins at Guardok and Rubina. "Tonight's for celebrating anyways. At least for as long as we can keep our thespians up," she teases. "Oooor until we decide to sneak back into the theater for outfits."
"Well, I admit I am a bit surprised over saying this myself but if you are sneaking into the theatre for outfits I think I will come along, I could definitely use a change of style once in a while." The purple-skinned tiefling says motioning to his own formal purple scholarly robes, then smiling and raising his glass of wine before taking another sip, seeming plesantly relaxed and ready to join any and all of Mei's whimsical propositions. Perhaps he would dare to go for something just a little bit more extravagant, assuming it would be okay to borrow a costume for the gala.
