Mae noted the look from Larine and gave her a reassuring smile. "Well you all are welcome to raid the wardrobes, but I think I've had a long weekend and am going to go to bed. Do let me know though, Mei, if you plan on doing your thing one night and I will certainly try to be there if you want."Mae stood up and looked back at Larine expectantly. "Well done again, Guardok. See you all soon, and yes, Aurora, we should get together sometime and work on some new material. Ready to go, Larine?"
Guardok looks a little lost at talk of Disyn and snarls. He figures it must be something unique to Strixhaven which he was never told about. Everyone else seemed to know lots about the university compared to him.
Midnight dancing rituals, however, sounded right up his street.
"Thanks, Mae", he says to her with a smile as she gets up to leave, finally distracted from his own thoughts. "I won't be far behind. Can't be yawning through my next performance, but I would definitely be up for a midnight dance ritual another time. Do you need those costumes tonight, Mei? I expect the theatre will be locked up, and although I don't mind helping you borrow a costume, I don't really want to get caught breaking in. Not after we already had a run in with those campus security automatons".
(OOC: Just to clarify, I thought this was late Friday evening, with a long weekend ahead of more performances of the play / art gala / show-band performance. I might be wrong mind)
(OOC-- I think the whole group learned about the snarls at Orientation right? My brain is swiss cheese though and that was over a year ago so I could very well be remembering wrong lol!!)
With Mae and Larine getting up to leave, the Dreamer rises to give her floormate a hug goodbye and Larine a little wave. "I'm so glad you came out with us, Larine. I hope we see you at the gala too! There are some beautiful water-motif pieces I think you'd like."
Mei sits back down again as the girls leave, eyes widening at Guardok's comment. "Oh, right!" she chirps, remembering their encounter with the automaton. "I'm sure that'sexactly the sort of thing they'd be on the lookout for too! Maybe we could find outfits some other way then... or I could use a couple spells to keep up the illusion of one."Under the table, she stretches her leg out to try and find Malvyn's shoe to tap. If she manages to find it and catch his attention, she'll give him a subtle wink.
As Mae and Larine leaves, Malvyn too politely stands up and gives them both a nod and a small smile. "And we're looking forward to see your water dancing performance Larine."
Feeling something under the table, it takes the purple-skinned tiefling a moment to notice Mei winking discreetly, smiling awkwardly back at her and feeling like he's missing something. "I suppose we could look for costumes tomorrow when there's no need to break into the theatre?" He says, looking between Mei, Guardok and Rubina. "That midnight ritual still sounds like a good idea though."He adds quickly, more than curious about the prayer book Mei mentioned.
"Ok. Like I said, I can help tomorrow, but if you have other ideas for a costume that's not a problem", Guardok says to Mei and Mal. "And on that note, I think it is time I head off and get some sleep. Need to be on my a game tomorrow with two performances".
With that, he hops down off his chair and gives everyone a wave, intending to go pay his bill on the way out.
“Oh, right. I forgot the gala wasn’t tomorrow. Guess I’m getting a bit mixed up!” With more time before the art gala than she thought, Mei realizes there’s no need for any late night hijinks that might get them in trouble. So agrees they could figure something else out and bids everyone goodnight as well.
Aurora had glanced over at Malvynwhen he agreed with Meiabout a late-night break in to borrow costumes. She had laughed softly before Rubina spoke up. "We could just help you get into the costume room tomorrow when we go in before the next show. I think that would be much better than a break in!"
As Maesuggests leaving, Larine perks up a bit. "Yea, I definitely think I should get going too." She slowly stands even, seeming ready to encourage Maeto get going. She timidly responds to Mei's comment about the gala. "Oh, sure, I think I'll be there. I'm sure the water-motif pieces will be interesting." As the pair are already going, Larine seems to just catch Malvyn's comment, giving him a bit of an awkward nod.
Aurora nods to Maeat her suggestion of getting together. "I'd really like that. Once we're past the concert of course!"
As Guardokthen starts to head out as well, Cadoras speaks up. "Mei, the gala IS tomorrow! But you'd probably still have time to find something earlier in the day. And you know, a bit of paste glue, some paper, a touch of paint here and there, and I'm sure I could make you a great costume!" He then grows a bit more serious. "But perhaps I should escort you back to Dresar Hall for now? Get you a tiny bit of rest."
The group all appears ready to go and starts to head out of the Bow's End. It doesn't take long for everyone to get back to their respective dorms and get some sleep. Or a tiny bit of rest as the case may be.
(OOC - Feel free to wrap up anything if you wish, I will move to the next day shortly.)
The purple-skinned tiefling does not argue against calling it a night, but he hopes there will be other chances to know more about Disyn. He would escort Aurora back to her dormitory before returning to Dresar hall, spending some time in the study to read before returning to his and Knap's room to sleep.
Straight to sleep for Guardok. Even if Piero is in their room and awake, he will just say hello and that they can chat more in the morning. Which as usual comes early for him, as he gets up and does his exercises and sword training.
With Cadoras needing as little sleep as she does at the moment, Mei invites him up to the lounge for some snacks and to go over what they'll be doing at the gala. Certainly not using it as an excuse to spend more time with the cheerful elf.
Seeing Malvyn still up and, knowing he was interested, she brings him the prayer book she received in Silkmeadow along with a bit of tea and some snacks too.
When she finally turns in, she finds it even more difficult than usual to fall asleep. Disyn, her Dreams, and the image of a blonde haired girl kissing a cheek circle in her mind like a music box rewound again and again.
Mae smiled briefly at Aurora, "Yes, most definitely -after- the show." She then walked out with Larine, back to her room to see her out for the night, then retreated to her own room, exhausted and collapsed almost immediately and slept hard until the following day.
As the petite oracle visits him in the study room, the purple-skinned tiefling quickly puts away the book he's reading, making sure she can't see the cover, thanking her profusely for her kindness, happily accepting both the tea, the snacks and the prayer book, and as soon as the dreamer leaves again he would start to consume the Disyn breviary along with the tea and snacks, looking for clues to who or what Disyn is, making frequent notes before finally haeding to bed.
Cadoras agrees to accompany Mei, especially so when snacks are mentioned. When she's finally ready for a little sleep he leaves for his own dorm room.
Malvynmanages to move quickly through the prayer book that Meihad given him. He compiles a number of notes about this Disyn. The main thing he gleans so far is that much of what is written talks about working both day and night. And there is a real focus on light and dark as symbols.
The next day comes, and the early morning at least seems calm. Guardok is able to get his exercises in. Pierohad been present the previous night and had already been asleep. He too was up early and asks about the play before letting the genasi move along with his activities.
It is not too long though before the time approaches for Guardokto head to the theater to prepare for their matinee show. For those that wish to see about quietly borrowing something from the theater's excess costumes, it might work best to go with him now to get that done before too much of the day has passed by.
"It went well", Guardok answers Piero. "Everyone was great, and I really enjoyed it. It felt more natural in the second act, and I really managed to get into the character. And I got a few laughs. Intentional ones", he says with a chuckle at the end. "Are you going to come to onenof the performances? Still three chances to see it".
After exercising and having a wash, Guardok looks for Mei to ask if she still wants to come and borrow a costume.
"Is it just the exhibitors that are required to dress up?"
Mei is, as per Disyn's teachings, up at dawn. She basks in the morning glow of the new day during her sunrise ritual before focusing on her studies, now researching topics mentioned far ahead in each classes' syllabus.
The oracle is easy enough to find in the lounge, surrounded by a veritable forest of stacked and open textbooks. Her head pops up over a stack with a bright smile to greet him. "Hi, Guardok! Ah, yes! It's a, um, formal sort of event, so everyone's encouraged to wear their best!" Guardok feels an invisible force brush past him and might realize it's her (Reluctant) Unseen Helper, in the process of putting the books away.
Guardok will take those that want costumes with him, arriving a little earlier than needed for his performance.
"I am not certain if this is allowed, probably not in truth, so be careful not to get them too messy and have them ready to return before the performance tomorrow", he request. He will then make sure the coast is clear before letting them in to take a look in the costume room.
He will keep an eye and ear out whilst they are choosing.
Mei feels a tiny thrill over sneaking in, though it's dampened the moment they arrive at the door. She looks at Guardok, suddenly seized by guilt for putting him in this position. She nods at his words. "Sorry, this was--I shouldn't have suggested--" she worries at her lip. They're already here, she might as well try. "You don't have to stay. But I promise we won't be long!"
She grabs Malvyn's hand and pulls him along into the room, heading straight for the racks of clothes. She looks for more modern options and anything that might fit her petite form (also keeping an eye out for anything for Malvyn too), touching a hand to her sternum with whispered Guidance. "Make it quick, Mei." (If needed: Investigation: 12+3 15)
Once she finds a few suitable options, she whispers at her two floormates, "Don't look this way for a second, 'kay?" The sounds of clothing hitting the floor, rustling fabrics, and little grunts of effort might clue the others in.
Mae noted the look from Larine and gave her a reassuring smile. "Well you all are welcome to raid the wardrobes, but I think I've had a long weekend and am going to go to bed. Do let me know though, Mei, if you plan on doing your thing one night and I will certainly try to be there if you want." Mae stood up and looked back at Larine expectantly. "Well done again, Guardok.
