Mae looked up at Malvyn from her plate and swallowed her bite and took a sip of her water before answering. "The Biblioplex? Was something going on? I came back to my room right after class after a stop at the tavern. I am planning on starting as a hostess there soon, as long as it doesn't interfere with being in the Showband, but I believe that starts in another day or two." She looked at the sleepy Mei and frowned for a moment. "Poor thing, I wish I could help her get better sleep."
"Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you heard me after class suggesting we would study at the Biblioplex together."The purple-skinned Tiefling says with an embarrased smile. "You didn't miss much though but perhaps we should study together in the lounge on our floor instead."He continues, looking around at the others to see if that would be more tempting. "Or we simply convene the Study Group as we draw near the exams."He adds with a shrug and a grin.
"So, a hostess at the Bow's End tavern, sounds like a place that would love to have you Mae, although I admit I don't quite know what a hostess does." Malvyn says, seeming a bit awkward as he speaks with Mae. "And the Showband too, I guess you will see a lot of Aurora then."
"Ah, yes, we should really look into something that could help Mei with her sleep. Being constantly sleep depraved must be horrible." Malvyn says, nodding at Mae's words, giving the purple-haired dreamer a compassionate look.
Mae half shrugged. "I suppose we'll see. I'm sure studying together later on could be beneficial for some. I've always had to study just about anything on my own though." She gets a thoughtful look at her own comment though before going on. "Oh, a hostess greets people and helps them get situated in the tavern before being served. Probably some other things too, but basically I would be the front face of the tavern. I might move on to a server later on once I see how everything works there better." If Malvyn showed signs of awkwardness, Mae made no comment about it, merely continuing the conversation as she would with anyone. "I'm sure I'll see a lot of people at the Showband, including Aurora." She looked back at Mei, "I wonder if there is a special tea or something that might help her sleep better." She pondered this as she went back to finishing her meal.
"I think studying on floor four might be the best idea as well. That way those of us with less inclination can dip in and out", Guardok says. "I know I felt a bit anxious sitting in the Biblioplex having to keep still and lower my voice".
Looking to Mae as she explains her new job he also nods in approval, "You'll definitely be great. And you can let us know what special events are coming up as well".
As talk turns to Mei and her lack of sleep, and tea being a potential solution, he asks the group, "Are any of you doing the class on arcano-botany? If there is a tea that will help her, maybe it will come up".
His plate is now empty as is his mug, and looks across at the buffet obviously trying to decide whether to go for seconds.
Malvyn nods in agreement with the others as they discuss the Study Group staying in the lounge. He keeps a look out for Mellori and Chara, waving them to the table if he would spot them. He would otherwise seem somewhat preoccupied with thoughts of his own, glancing over at the clock now and again as he eats his dinner, making polite conversation with the others although having no further topics of his own to bring up, although he was pondering who could help Mei with some relaxing tea for her sleep, or maybe there was someone at the univesity she could see about her dreams. As he finishes up his own dinner he gently pokes the purple-haired dreamer. "Mei, don't forget your dessert now." He says softly, hoping her sleep at the dinner table had been a restful one at least.
"I think it is good if we all find our preferred way to learn, or place. Whether together or or not, as long as we are doing our best and helping each other I think it will all be okay in the end." Mae finished her water with a long draught. "If they tell me what's going on, Guardok, I'm sure I can let you know, although it sounds like some of us might be frequenting the establishment regularly anyway." She looked down at her empty plate and back at the food lines, and then stood up. "I'm heading back up to my room if you need me." She offered a small smile to the group and then began to head back up.
The purple-skinned Tiefling gives Mae a polite nod and a smile as the Aasimar leaves for her room. Having no success with waking up the purple-haired dreamer, Malvyn finally gives up, although still seeming a bit worried for Mei as he glances over at the clock, then getting up and excusing himself before heading out into the Strixhaven evening.
With the first week of their new adventure at Strixhaven survived behind them, the residents of Dresar Hall's fourth floor enjoy a celebratory dinner at the Bow's End Tavern (perhaps amongst many others with the same idea). Meals finished and drinks drunk, Mei leaves the bustling tavern with her floormates and a mind fogged by something other than sleepiness, now a might bit past tipsy.
"Knaaap. Hey, Knap. What about a--" the diviner covers her mouth as she hiccups, "--oh,pardon me--a piggyback ride? Need to work on our, um... gluteus maximu--... ses? Maximi?" She laughs, remembering something from their club meet, "I mean, our assthetics!" It's hard to tell if she means giving Knap a piggyback ride or receiving one.
Mae, who does not drink much, looks on with concern at Mei as she begins talking as they leave, getting a visible look of discomfort at the scene. "I think maybe you had a few too many, Mei."She frowns a little but offers support if necessary as they walk back.
Being a Friday night, the Bow's End Tavern had been fairly packed with students. Aurora did a performance later in the evening, starting about 9pm. A few different groups were performing later. Not being a school night, the place stayed open to 2am. (Though the group is not required to stay that late!) Cadoras, a half-elf, was there, as was Greta, a dwarf. (Who some folks know!)
Knap legs start spinning fast on the spot in preparation to leap on onto Mei for a piggy back ride. “Gluteus Maximus is my stage name! Heeeheheehe.” Though Knap, again, only had one peach fizz he’s feeling a little light-headed.
“after piggy back, Dresar hall fourth floor creature pyramid! Or, who wants to jump really high with me?”
"Eh? Did I?" Mei asks, blinking owlishly up at Maeleve. "I was just tryna keep up with Greta, you know?" She doesn't seem to have any trouble walking, past tipsy though not in her cups--and thankfully is not as emotional and weepy as her first experience. At Mae's visible discomfort and frown, however, she looks a bit worried in return. "I'm sorry."
But at the sudden wizard-back ride, Mei's surprise rings out in a bout of laughter. She staggers beneath the effort of keeping them both upright, quickly hooking her arms around Knap's furry legs. "T-This should be... a new exercise at club... Satyr-Squats," she gets out between grunts and giggles. "Not that I'm... saying you're heavy!"
((Rolled a STR save and an Athletics check and both were a 12 lol! Not sure if that's high enough to be successful or not @DM, though she does have a carry capacity of 180lbs surprisingly enough hahaha!))
Guardok watches the tipsier members of their group having fun on the way back to the hall, having abstained from drinking anything stronger than fruit juice himself. He had to explain more than once to the others that he has to be up fairly early to practice for his audition in the morning.
"Now a creature pyramid sounds like my sort of activity", he says in response to Knap's suggestion. "Although I will likely have to claim top spot if you don't want it to be lopsided", he adds with a chuckle.
"I'm glad you two had so much fun at the Iron Lifters, almost sad to miss out".
Seeming relaxed and pleased, the purple-skinned Tiefling walks with the others, grinning as Mei and Knap seems to be in playful mood. He hummed softly one the songs Aurora had played, his tail swaying slightly back and forth as he walks. The first week had went well and he felt he had found a good balance between his studies and other activities, in particular getting to know and befriend other students in a way he certainly hadn't expected.
The evening so far had been quite pleasant but he found himself looking forward to just spend some time with his floor mates, maybe even to get to know them better now that he felt comfortable with sharing his past with them. They already knew some and hadn't judged him so far, in fact he found them all quite pleasant company and they all contributed to him feeling like he had a home at Dresar Hall in away he had never had a home before.
To Guardok she offers, “Maybe you… could come sometime?” Her steps become a slow slide forward of one foot then the other. “But gymnastics seemed… really fun—“ her knees nearly buckle and she squeaks out, “too!”
A sheen of sweat emerges on her forehead and, as Knap mentions seeing Strixhaven, Mei pales. “B-Better view? Where’s that? Up… high?”
"So, how are things coming along with the Showband so far?" Malvyn, coming out of his pleasant thoughts, turns to ask Maeleve as the floor mates walk back to Dresar Hall through the quiet Strixhaven night. "I suppose you will have an open concert later on?"
"I may just take you up on that Mei", Guardok replies about attending an Iron Lifters meeting. Only to watch of course. When Knap mentions getting a better view, he starts to run towards them as if to climb up and start the pyramid now. He doesn't follow through, getting distracted by mention of the Showband.
"Well I don't know," Mae started. "I would assume we have a performance at some point but I don't know of anything scheduled yet. I'm going to meet with Aurora and Rubina later though to practice together some, so maybe I can see if they know what the schedule is like."
"Not that I doubt you would have an appreciating audience anyway but you can count on your floor mates to be there applauding for you Mae." Malvyn says with a warm smile, glancing over at the others for confirmation of his statement.

[For the leap onto Mei’s back I’ll make an acrobatics (17) to say he attempted to do so in an agile and deliberately safe way]
On the shoulders of diviners, Knap “yehaaaws”. He’s feeling daring. “We should get a better view of Strixhaven.”
