As Mei pulls her pant leg up and reveals the naked skin under it, Malvyn reflexively averts his eyes. It seemed improper somehow to look too closely, but he quickly ralizes he has overreacted, quickly offering the purple-haired girl a friendly smile. "I'm sure you will do much better here Mei, if you want to I mean." He says, hoping it will be reassuring for her, she certainly deserved it after all the kindness she had shown him and the others.
As Mellori talks about something called the Dead Languages Society, reading tomes written in ancient languages, a historical society and working at the biblioplex, the purple-skinned tiefling is almost overwhelmed with conflicting emotions. He could almost not fathom that someone like the red-haired girl would have interests so much like himself, and she spoke of it with such passion. He also realizes chances are they would run into each other quite a bit now. If he had believed the gods cared for someone like him he would pray she wouldn't end up scorning him once she inevitably knew him better, but he knew it would be in vain, keeping her and the others at some distance and not reveal too much about himself would likely be how he survived, and they. "I realize I haven't come prepared as you Mellori, I didn't know about the clubs you mentioned but I must admit they very much seems like something I would appreciate too." Malvyn finally dares himself to say to Mellori with waht he hopes is a calm voice and a freindly smile, hoping she will not misintepret his interests for the clubs she mentioned. There was no reason to mention the reason he hadn't read about them was he hadn't planned to join any fraternities or clubs, but somehow the idea seemed more interesting with the people he had met, maybe he would dare to take part i student life after all.
As a snowflake lands on Knap’s nose he sneezes at the delightful tickle of druidic magic. “I’ll be! Look at that! Each and every flake with its own unique shape and personality.” The last snow begins to fall and Knap turns to Mei as she reveals her scar. “Coooooooooool!” he says looking over with a face contorted by fascination and a twinge of imagined pain. “If not onstage, I reckon you’d be a whizz in special effects.”
“A butterfly too, Mae, you’re the veritable one person show, I’m sure.” Knap can hardly hide his excitement by the land-based metaphors and enchantments his floormates conjure. He worries though, his roommate Malvyn seems like the quiet bookish type, not so much into gardening and the like. I know! Knap jolts with epiphany. “Malvyn, if you’re unsure about what club to join, I highly recommend the Iron Lifters Society with me.” Knap suggests naively forgetting to connect his own dots and assumptions about Malvyn. “We can be lifting bros! 403 for the gold and personal best. I don’t know about the rest of you folk but it’s all about thick thighs for a satyr.”
“As for a job,” Knap groans, “hopefully, something where I can just walk around the grounds and maybe pick up litter and say chirp with the birds, and point people in the right direction, when I know what direction everything is."
As everyone is enjoying snacks and conversation together to varying degrees, Lesviel reappears at the entrance to the lounge. "Ah, everyone is in here enjoying the lounge! Wonderful!" she say. "I still didn't track down Piero, but I'm sure he'll turn up. Check-in is winding down, but perhaps he's just running late." She then adds, almost as though murmuring to herself, "Though he wasn't on the list for late arrivals."
She takes a few steps into the room, seeming to take a quick snapshot of what everyone is up to. "I wanted to let you know a few things, just in case you didn't go though your information packets yet." She chuckles, "And don't worry if you haven't, nobody ever does!" Her voice is then a little bit more serious, though it still comes across as casual in tone. "Dinner will be served down in the Dining Hall where you checked in. They're getting the space all rearranged now. You have from 5 in the evening to 9 in the evening for dinner."
Her eyes seem to drift towards the table with the snack. "Oh, I see you already had some snacks. There are a few places around central campus to buy items if you want snacks. I suggest avoiding trying to bring too much food here - there's not really facilities for storing or really cooking. But some tea or coffee, crackers, or perhaps sweets are great." She points towards one of the plates. "Do you mind if I have one of those honey pancake sandwiches? They look amazing."
"Oh yes!" Lesviel continues. "It's very important to note that Orientation is tomorrow. You will all be going as a group, and your time is at 10 in the morning. Please be at the front of the Biblioplex by that time. Unfortunately, I have a few errands to run in the morning, so I will have to meet you there. But I'm sure you'll all be able to get there no problem at all!"
She then pauses, looking around at all the first-year students. "Sorry, that's it for me interrupting you all. Just ask if you have questions. But the day is yours - until we meet tomorrow! Just don't forget about dinner. Oh, and breakfast in the morning is from 5 in the morning to 9 in morning. Lunch will be from mid-day to 3 in the afternoon. Then evening dinner from 5 to 9, like I already said. There are other places to eat on campus though. That's just when the dormitory serves."
Lesviel is then shaking her head. "There I go talking on and on again after I said I was done! Um, I'm really done now, unless there are questions."
Guardok listens to everything Lesviel says, and then raises a hand to indicate he has questions, which he just launches straight into.
"I have some questions. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. If we turn up to the start, can we go back later?", he says, hoping that multiple servings are allowed. "And what does Piero look like? Just in case someone claiming to be them turns up, wouldn't want to share a room with a stranger. Would you like me to go look for them?".
Preoccupied with Knap's thicc thick thighs, Mei doesn't notice Lesviel's arrival at first. It's with a start that she hurries to hold the plate of dorayaki up to her with a stumbling, "O-of course! As many as you'd like!" Once Lesviel's grabbed her fill, she begins to tidy up, worried she's ruined everyone's appetite for their first dinner here. But, listening to Guardok, it seems he at least will likely still eat his fill. It's with soft fondness that she smiles to herself and works to prestidigitate any empty tea cups clean.
Lesviel smiles as Meisnatches up the plate to offer her one of the dorayaki. "I presume these came from you?" she asks before taking a small bite. "Delicious. Thank you," she adds.
Her gaze turns to Guardok as he asks his question. "Um, yes?" It appears this is not a specific question she'd been expecting. "Everyone can have more if they wish. So, yes, you could I guess come back and get more if the meal is still underway."
"As for Mr. Mirthside, no need for a search. I'm sure he'll show up." She then paces a bit, "I don't know what he looks like either. I've never met him. He is a human though."
Mellori's smile widens slightly (if that is even possible) when she hears Malvyn show appreciation for the things she liked. Her parents had cautioned her that some see campus life as more about socialising than learning - which she found hard to believe - so to hear another's interest in history lightened her spirit further.
When Lesviel mentioned that people might not have read their information packets, Mellori's brows knitted momentarily. How could anyone not have read them...at least twice (or six times in Mellori's case). "Should we all go to dinner together?" Mellori asked, not wishing to be separated if the group did anything without her. "And if so, what time?"
Malvyn is relieved, very relieved in fact, to see Mellori seemingly approve of him having quite similar interests as she has. The question was still very much though whether she would approve of him as she inevitably got to know him better, got to know who he really was.
The purple-skinned tiefling frowns slightly as the satyr talks about snowflakes having personalities. He was quite certain there was no scientific evidence suppporting such an outrageous statement, but he lets it go. As Knap then mentions Iron Lifters society he can't help but frown. It should be abundantly clear he was in no way interested in such actvities and Malvyn has a hard time determining if the question even was malicious, making fun of his obvious weak build. "No, thank you for the offer Knap, I am sure you will find someone else to share that particular interest." The purple-skinned tiefling responds with all the politeness he can muster, displaying a strained smile. If it were not for the circumstances the tiefling would explain just how he felt about weight-lifting, but this was not the time nor the place for such honesty.
Luckily the sensetive tiefling is interrupted in his thoughts when Lesviel arrives and explains daily routines. It felt comforting to have clear set rules and times, although it would still likely be a challenge for him to not lose himself in a book and miss a meal altogether. As Mellori mentions having dinner together he nods and looks to the others, smiling even, feeling just a little bit of excitement over sharing a meal with them all. Whatever he felt about his floor mates he felt safe with them now, and safe was quite good enough for a first day in a new life.
Mae looked up as Lesviel returned and began informing them of the upcoming activities and food schedule. While she wasn't a big eater, like some seemed to be, she certainly did enjoy the food she did get, and hopefully what they served here at the school would be a delightful experience. There was also something comforting about having a sort of script to follow each day: classes and meals having designated times, and she supposed other activities too. Experience had taught her that going off script now and then was to be expected and enjoyed even, but having a base to work from certainly helped. As she looked at her floor mates she felt a soothing wave roll over her and reaffirming her choice to come here so far. When it was announced that perhaps they should all have the meal together, she nodded with them. "I think eating together sounds like a lovely time!"
Mei watches Lesviel pace, amethyst eyes following her journey back and forth about the lounge. Is she… worried? The cards thrum against her hip, growing antsy in their holster. ((Insight: 5+4=9 :( or passive 14))
With her attention divided, the wizard nearly misses the suggestion that they all eat together. She sniffles at a sudden burst of emotion—relief that she hadn’t pushed anyone away, and a reassuring sense of camaraderie not felt in many, many years. For the first time in a long while she doesn’t feel… alone. Long-wilted flowers begin to bloom again, watered as they are by the hope of friendship these next four years.
Tucking a bit of bangs behind her ear, smiling to herself, she asks, “Is… 7 okay for dinner? That gives everyone time to finish settling in and, um…” she looks down at her robes, having worn them a day too soon it seems, “change?” It would be nice to don some color again. And perhaps even squeeze in another nap.
"Fair enough", Guardok replies to Lesviel. "I guess looking for someone when all you know is that they are a human male does sound like a tall order. And as you can see, I don't do tall", he continues with a low rumbling laugh. "That's good about dinner though".
When Mellori suggests they dine together, he enthusiastically responds, "Dining together sounds good to me too. I guess I could wait until 7". That said, he does reach forward to grab another honey pancake sandwich.
He looks around at all his dorm-mates, all seemingly so different from himself and from each other as well. "You know, I wasn't sure what to expect from coming here, but I've got a really good feeling about the year ahead. Feels just like joining a new troupe", he adds before taking a rather large bite of sandwich.
"Okay, 7 sounds good to me... you all seem nice, and I should really get out of my shell a bit."
She inhales slowly, and then lets the breathe out. Then she decides to try one of the pancake sandwiches before she finishes unpacking her meager 'supplies.' And as soon as she tastes it, she realizes she may have made a mistake... because she suddenly has the urge to devour the entire tray. She isn't really used to having food. That is, to having good food!
"Oh... oh my," she exclaims, a huge grin spreading across her face as she picks up a second. She looks at Mei, somewhat self-consciously. "This is wonderful... um... but... I think it would probably be best if I don't stay too long... I'm afraid that if I remain in the proximity of your cooking I might be too stuffed to move before we even get to dinner!"

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
"Y-You're welcome, Knap! Have a good, um, nap," she calls softly after him, eyes darting down to his thighs and then quickly away. She clears her throat, preparing to bundle up the leftover pancake sandwiches until Chara reaches out for one.
Watching her reaction, Mei gapes up at the tiefling, her cheeks growing pinker by the second as Chara's endearing grin grows. "I--oh. Stars, I'd be, um, I'd be happy to bake for you any time! A-Any of you. Well... if they'll let an amateur like me in the kitchens," she chimes with a little laugh. The kitchens here are surely something to behold. And maybe they would let her use them occasionally? It would be nice to make more treats for her floormates. On namedays especially. Everyone deserves something special baked on their nameday.
With a hand pressed to her heated cheek, she nods at Chara and sits back on her heels. "Please, please. You go ahead. I hope you get all settled in. I'll see you at 7 for dinner!"
Seemingly pleased to hear all the students of the 4th floor of Dresar Hall agree on dining together at the strike of seven, the purple-skinned tiefling nods and smiles at Knap when the satyr withdraws to their shared room. "We will of course all keep our eyes open for our missing floor mate."Malvyn then says to Lesviel as Knap leaves. "If I'm not mistaken we have ample of time before our dinner at seven so I'm wondering if the Biblioplex is still open as I very much would like to visit it as soon as possible."He adds, speaking of the Biblioplex like it was a place to be revered and venerated. For Malvyn this was very much the case, the wast amounts of books and old tomes harboured within the Biblioplex constituted a treasure far more significant and precious than any dragon's hoard as far as he was concerned.
Lesviel nods to Malvyn. "I think the Biblioplex is open,"she says, pausing a moment. "Oh... but they are preparing for Orientation. So it's probably closed today. Do you know how to get there?" She pauses a moment before continuing. "I should have made sure everyone knows for tomorrow!"She glances about at the others to see if everyone seems to know the way. "Room 402 certainly has a view of the Biblioplex, probably Room 403 as well. The others are probably too far around to catch a glimpse. It's not too far away."
"I also apologize that I will not be able to join you all for dinner. I had some plans so will be heading off in a bit." She glances over at the clock. "In fact, I ought to be getting ready!" She starts to head towards the hallway back to her room. "I'll be back later this evening if you need anything." She then hurries away.
“A… view?” Mei starts to turn around to look out the large window in the lounge, but immediately about faces with a little noise of dismay and hand pressed to her stomach. That's something she needs to work on--how is she meant to go a year without looking out the window?
Instead, she watches Lesviel hurry off and wonders with some excitement if she has a date to get to. ((Insight: 18+4=22))
A slight disappointment streaks across the face of the purple-skinned tiefling as Lesviel mentions the Biblioplex is likely closed to visits, but in his mind even just venturing outside the building would be like a pilgrimage to this sacred temple of knowledge, all kinds of knowledge. As Lesviel leaves he turns to the remaining students with a polite smile. "I think I will take a stroll over to the Biblioplex all the same, I will be sure to make it back to dine with you all, if anyone wants to explore the grounds a bit before dinner you are of course welcome to join me." He says, waiting briefly for any who would before making it out of Dresar Hall and over to the Biblioplex.
From Lesviel just rushing off it's hard for Meito fully get a read on what the Elf's destination might be. You do get a hint of excitement in her actions and interest in more than just arriving on time. (OOC - Earlier Mei had also tried to understand her pacing when talking of the missing Piero. It did seem like she was concerned, but no more so than just that a student sort of under her watch was not where he was expected to be.)
Other than Knaphaving left for a nap and Lesviel leaving for her unknown rendezvous, the rest of the students remain in the lounge. Though it feels as though things are winding down here. The clock is close to hitting 5pm, still allowing 2 hours before your appointment for dinner together.
(Looking for whether anyone is going with Malvyn? If not, what are characters going to do? Since it appeared everyone was going to dinner, I did figure we'd play that out.)
Guardok watches Lesviel leave, and then turns back to Malvyn, "A tempting offer but I think it best I wait here in case Piero turns up. With Lesviel busy, someone needs to welcome him". With that he jumps up off his chair, "Want some help cleaning up, Mei", he asks but doesn't wait for an answer. He simply starts reaching for plates and cups, waving his hand across them whilst incanting a few words in the aquan dialect of primordial, leaving them sparkling clean.
Once everything is tidy, he will excuse himself and head back to his room to unpack.
As Mei pulls her pant leg up and reveals the naked skin under it, Malvyn reflexively averts his eyes. It seemed improper somehow to look too closely, but he quickly ralizes he has overreacted, quickly offering the purple-haired girl a friendly smile. "If I'm not mistaken we have ample of time before our dinner at seven so I'm wondering if the Biblioplex is still open as I very much would like to visit it as soon as possible." He adds, speaking of the Biblioplex like it was a place to be revered and venerated. For Malvyn this was very much the case, the wast amounts of books and old tomes harboured within the Biblioplex constituted a treasure far more significant and precious than any dragon's hoard as far as he was concerned.
Lesviel nods to Malvyn. "I think the Biblioplex is open," she says, pausing a moment. "Oh... but they are preparing for Orientation. So it's probably closed today. Do you know how to get there?" She pauses a moment before continuing. "I should have made sure everyone knows for tomorrow!" She glances about at the others to see if everyone seems to know the way.

From Lesviel just rushing off it's hard for Mei to fully get a read on what the Elf's destination might be. You do get a hint of excitement in her actions and interest in more than just arriving on time. (OOC - Earlier Mei had also tried to understand her pacing when talking of the missing Piero. It did seem like she was concerned, but no more so than just that a student sort of under her watch was not where he was expected to be.)
Other than Knap having left for a nap and Lesviel leaving for her unknown rendezvous, the rest of the students remain in the lounge.
