Fergus, clearly in distress, lashes out in a panic and manages to kick the smiling stone head clear off its prone body. The statue crumbles further, and becomes fully inanimate under the tightening coils of the massive serpent.
Boona makes two monstrous swings of her maul at the levitating figure. Goblin bones crack and pop. Quinn sinks an arrow into Ruxithid's neck.
The goblin falls, dead, to the floor. As he hits the ground, his crystalline brain splits asunder. The sanctum fills with a cacophony, like thousands of voices crying at once. Three voices emerge, speaking in discordant unison.
The voices hiss: “So you have succeeded. Good. The four shards shall arrive here soon. Now three remain to be found. You know your task, little one. Collect the shards from Talhundereth, the Crypt of the Talhund, and Gibbet Crossing, and bring them to us. You shall be reborn greater than you can imagine, and Phandalin shall become ours.”
The crystal dulls, and goes quiet. Fergus' visions vanish.
Over the quiet crackle of slowly falling lava, you hear nothing except the sickly, rasping cough from one of the prisoners in the alcove to the west.
Bryony covers her ears at the cacophony of voices. Then three voices speak as one, and it's probably the creepiest thing the halfling has ever heard.
"Shut up, stupid voices!" the halfling cries, feeling a combination of anger and worry that they still haven't found her family. "Oh Aunt Qelline, Carp, where are you??"
Even though her family doesn't appear to be among them, Bryony heads toward the rasping cough to see if she can do anything to help the sickly prisoners.

Still mentally reeling in anguish from the horrible scene caused by the spell, Fergus focuses on the voices, cataloging the places mentioned. He looks to see how the rest of the party is faring as he walks up to the mezzanine to look for further clues.
Quinn descends the western stairway, bow at the ready and aim fixed on "The Chosen One". He kicks the scimitar out of reach and nudges the body with his boot. Quinn lowers his bow and stows it, satisfied that the crystal brained goblin is dead. He kneels beside the body and looks over it. He looks at the hands and neck for any jewelry, he searches the body for any belongings. Quinn grabs the scimitar and looks very closely at the cracked crystalline skull before standing up and walking towards the center of the room.

He calls out to the crew. "Let's be quick, but thorough. Make sure search the room to the east and collect those documents. And let's not forgot to search Ruxithid's room up top." He then joins Bryony and Boona to help the prisoners.

Bryony heads into the west wing of the sanctum, where she takes in the three hostages lying there. She recognizes all of them. They are Dareth Grint, a human farmer whom she recalls is Townmaster Harbin Wester’s cousin; Paulina Previne, a human stablehand who occasionally works at the Stonehill Inn; and Tumblewick Rollins, a gnome apothecary. All three are very sickly and barely conscious.
Fergus climbs up to the mezzanine, where he sees little of interest. Jurgen, too, takes a closer look at the sanctum, but finds nothing to provide any additional information.
Quinn examines Ruxithid's body. The crystal in his brain is cracked and dull. He wears a tarnished amulet around his neck and carries a scimitar that seems lifeless without whatever psionic charge Ruxithid brain had once channeled through it. The goblin carries nothing else of note.
Moving on to the prisoners, Quinn finds them desperately in need of food and medical attention. Certainly he has magical means to restore health, but the air here is poisonous, and they seem very weak from lack of food and water. They will not survive much longer here.
Boona moved the prisoners in front of her then asked the more injured of her allies to squeeze in as well, she glowed for a moment like the rising sun then a soft warm breeze rolled over them all healing their wounds and hopefully stabilising them. Then Boona went to pick up Dareth and Paulina, " We go quick?", she asked off of Quinns expression. " Then come back find way down to Bryony family?"

Finding nothing further of value, Fergus briefly considers collecting a sample of the blue lava—but thinking of no way to safely do so, he joins the others as they prepare to leave with the prisoners.
Scanning one last time for any of the missing obelisk pieces, Fergus says, ”Let us hope the undead miners give us no further trouble as we leave.” On a whim, he collects the cracked crystal that was embedded in Ruxithid’s skull for further study later.

"Boona, nice work. Yes, that sounds like a plan." Quinn moves to lift one of the sickened villagers. "We have to get them up top. The air in this room is sickening them and in their weakened state, they won't make it much longer.
Boona. Grab the other two and let's go."
Quinn rushes towards the lift.
"Someone grab the papers on the table in the other room and let's go."

”Papers?” exclaims Fergus, realizing he is too small to be of much help in moving the rescued prisoners. He rushes off in the direction indicated and grabs the papers. If there is a writing utensil, he will scribble down the locations Ruxithid and the disembodied voices mentioned before grabbing it all and following the party and prisoners to the lift.

"Snuffle" mumbles Jorzu as he heads to fetch his walking stick. "Good boy Hugo". At the command word the coiled shape of Hugo wisps back into the inert stick form.
At Boona's request he joins the prisoners gathered in front of her and revels in the faintly scented breeze that washes over him.
Although he eyed the rock in Ruxithid's head he was beaten to the punch by Fergus so when he sees Quinn lifting one of the prisoners he trots over and grabs their feet in an attempt to help. "Strange creature, the Chosen One, very strange" he says as he lifts a pair of sickly feet and tucks them under his armpits. "Ready when you are".
