Syzygy nods in agreement with Quinn. "We'll be out of here in no time. And you, Aros, sounds like you'll be up for returning soon to help us take the rest down? We're looking for a wizard too, if you've seen him."
Leading the family through the southern tunnel, the party soon emerges from the brambly hole some hundred feet later, meeting no one along the way. You clamber out into the thick, wild woods somewhere below Tresendar Manor. The morning air is hot and humid, if a little better-smelling than the cool, damp cavern you were just inside. The sky is clear, the woods quiet.
"We live above the wood shop across from Lionshield Coster," replies Mirna. "But I think we're going to get out of town for awhile. Neverwinter, maybe, I don't know. Them Redbrands aren't gonna let us just go home. But yeah, I'm gonna go get our stuff at least, stay with a friend until we can get an escort out of town." Bryony and Kimberley know the building. "Which way is town from here?"
"Look," adds Mirna. "I have nothing to give you to thank you for rescuing us, so like I said before, I can at least give you a tip. This is true. I know where a valuable heirloom used to be hidden. When I was a young girl, my family and I fled from the town of Thundertree after undead overran the place. My family had an herb and alchemy shop, inside which was an emerald necklace in a case hidden beneath a section of storage shelves. I never dared return to retrieve it. The shop was in the southeast part of Thundertree. It might still be there. The whole town is completely abandoned now - it's near the place where the Neverwinter River emerges from Neverwinter Wood." (She gives further directions to Thundertree for anyone interested. It's a long way away - at least two days travel.)
"I do have one question, if I may. We're trying to rid Phandalin of these Redbrands for good, but we need some help getting to the bottom of this.
Why did the Redbrands have it in for your husband and your family? Clearly, they weren't after your money until you offered up the idea of a paid ransom from your family. Why kill you and your husband?"

As the party emerges from the tunnel, Syzygy turns to do a quick headcount (half worried the one-eyed creature was still hungry).
With piqued interest, he takes a mental note of Thundertree and the heirloom tucked away in an abandoned alchemy shop. Quinn's question also piques his interest. Yes why indeed this family?
"We'll be okay," replies Mirna to Kimberley. "That's the Alderleaf Farm right there, right?" She points toward a hint of a wall through the brambly woods.
"Thel... They killed poor Thel for yelling at them when they came into the shop to bother me. Poor, stupid Thel - I don't even know what they did with his body. I don't know what we're going to do without him..." Her face recoils from the trauma and turns to deep, steely anger. "They try to keep everyone in line, I guess. Probably to keep competition away from that stupid mine everyone is looking for. Sometimes I think they cause trouble just to entertain themselves. They're an evil bunch of losers and opportunists. Some are just gullible pawns. But you try to stand up to them, you wind up like Thel. And us, almost. They all deserve the worst."
You stand in the fresh air, albeit a bit warm, in the dappled sunlight in the tangled scrubby forest outside the tunnel. What would you like to do next?
Syzygy wonders if Thel was fed to the creature in the crevice but says nothing of it.
“If Mirna and the others are good to get back, and provided everyone has no major injuries, we might be wise to get back in there before it’s realised that the prisoners are gone.”
“Did anyone catch a glimpse what was further beyond the hallways?”
Unless you have further conversation with Mirna or her children, or business in the woods, we'll presume the party re-enters the tunnel and emerges back in the cave without incident.
(Who is wearing - or not wearing - the red cloaks? Last we knew, Quinn, Syzygy, and Aros were wearing one each. Are they still? Did Kimberley take the fourth cloak or feed it to Ssarnak?)
OOC: Quinn would have asked was if her family's alchemical business could have had anything to do with why the Redbrands were after the Drendars. Quinn is getting a little suspicious here. Her family had a alchemy shop in Thundertree and a shop here in Phandalin, the Redbrand's leader Glasstaff is into alchemical stuff (per Garaele Barthen). Could the Redbrands been after this valuable heirloom? Seems kinda interesting to offer that up so readily. He's also going to make an insight check. He won't push too hard. After their response he would head back to the cave

“We came in through a tunnel on the other side over there.”
Quinn points to the far end towards the tunnel.
“The Redbrands have been known to use that tunnel so we need to be careful. Let’s go.”
Quinn motions for the Drendars and the rest of the party to head towards the exit. He’ll share his plan with the group.
IF everyone is on board, Quinn will take up the rear and make sure everyone is safely in the tunnel making their way to the exit before following.

Bryony turns back to her companions. "Are we ready to finish these Redbrands?"
