Quinn steps around the dirty cloth and takes a few steps into the hallway. He kneels down and illuminates the ground with Lightbringer while trying to determine if there are any tracks leading in this direction.

There are indeed many, many prints in the dust. It's difficult to judge their age, however.
Humanoid boot prints of all sizes and shapes, including a set of armored boot prints, and another of high-quality sandals or flats. Goat prints. Tentacle prints? Other tracks of unknown origin, including one tiny and quite alien track that you would have dismissed as a complete mystery had you not encountered them recently: encephalon gemmules. Sets of odd crater-like impressions that you're not sure whether they are footprints or something else entirely.
A cacophony of prints. Many of them have been filled with a fresh coating of dust, but it's difficult to determine just how long ago that might have happened.
"Well, looks like we're headed this way" Invisi-Jorzu says to Laiti as he instinctively points at the door. "I can't see you you know. Uuugh!" she replies in disgust. "Since you seem to do so well without me I'm going to take a quick look down the tunnel. Don't miss me too much" and before Jorzu can respond she flies down the western tunnel.
Jorzu approaches Fergus sheepishly. "Um, Fergus? Seems Laiti has run off down the tunnel. Just thought you should know. Mmm, run off."
Meanwhile, Invisi-Laiti speeds down the dusty tunnel as quick as her little wings will carry her. She looks around constantly keeping an eye for danger.
Jorzu eventually feels Laiti's telepathic link disconnect as she leaves the (100') range of their psychic bond. The last thing Jorzu hears is "down, down, down, tunnels, tunnels, tunnels..."
At the bottom of the first set of stairs, Quinn can see most of the prints head toward the west door, although some (like the armored boots) head to the east, and a few seem to continue down the next flight.
Boona descends the dusty staircase to examine the statues. Dwarven warriors, one with a battle axe, the other with a shortsword. Expertly-carved, quite ornate.
Quinn examines the doors. They are made from thick slabs of stone with simple handles a few feet from the floor. Both depict carvings of mountain peaks and multifaceted gemstones (rendered in stone.) Differing somewhat in design, but very similar in content and style.
You see a second landing, and more statues, ahead. The floor is increasingly littered in rubble, dust, and debris, ahead.
Jorzu treads carefully as he idles up beside Quinn. In a hushed tone he asks; "Are we going in either of these doors or making a beeline for somewhere deeper?"
Boona lumbers down the second stairway. She finds three more statues, another door, and a third staircase down. The debris is thick here, and the stairs ahead end abruptly at a wall of tumbled boulders from some long-ago collapse.
Quinn flinches at the sound of Jorzu's voice next to him. Quinn whispers in response.
"I dunno. Not sure how I feel about these people are sneaking up on us later. We can try to barricade them in. Shut the door and wedge some iron spikes in door. Not sure how good that would do.
I'll go down and see if I can hear anything behind the door to the east."

Boona looks again at the way forward. It is hopelessly blocked. It would take a squad of professional miners days to try to clear it, at minimum, provided such an attempt wouldn't trigger further collapse. Some of the loose boulders are the size of some of her friends.
Quinn listens at the eastern door on the first landing. He hears absolutely nothing through the thick stone door.
A minute or more has passed since Laiti left communication range with Jorzu. She has not yet returned or made contact.
”Lots of confusing footprints here, Quinn. I say we take it one door at a time and prioritize looking for clues to the townsfolk. This door seems as good as any,” says Fergus, moving over to join Quinn.
When they are ready to open the door, Fergus casts See Invisibility and stays alert, using his lantern to shed light on whatever they might find.
Quinn nods in agreement with Fergus. He looks back to Bryony and Jurgen and waves for their attention. He picks up a tiny piece of rubble and tosses it at her to get her attention and he motions for her to join them.
Quinn stands with his back to the wall and locks eyes with Fergus. He mouths a countdown. "3...2..1"
On the count of one, Quinn opens the door, waits for a second to avoid any arrow traps or anything of the sort and then stands in the breach looking into the room.

A dark, bare chamber lies within. Gouges in the walls suggest that this room once saw much combat. You see part of a weapon rack just around the corner. Another door is visible to the south. All is quiet.

”Quinn, with all this dust can you tell if the prisoners passed this way?” he considers.
