that would be an insight check, brenviel "We'll see what we can do." "So, um..." says Cadence, a look of confusion on his leporine face, "to sum up..."
He looks around at the rest of the group, hoping someone will continue his sentence. When they do not, he gamely tries to do so himself.
"It's possible that we need to steal a thing that doesn't belong to us in order to get to somewhere where we weren't when we lost our things, in order to get back those things of ours that were stolen in a different place, that being this place, by someone to whom they did not belong. On account of them being ours, of course. Or... um... we need to win a prize, or find a toad, or a little girl, or an acrobat. Does that just about cover it?"
Sure, you can make an insight check. Also, among the list of "things" you could do, Candlefoot still has no voice, some halflings looked upset, there are about 3 hours left in the carnival, and there are a few places you have not yet visited (which may or may not have much to aid you in your quest).

"So. I'll fly up and look for Toadman, the heartbroken Hobbits and a weird girl. The owners should be easy to see if they're out. But I'm thinking save the heist for last & see what's at the places left. Maybe Pixie Village or Hall of mirrors?"
"I agree, we should try looking at the rides we have not seen, though, we may not have much time, there are 3 hours and 5 rides, including the hall of illusions, which we are near at the moment, perhaps splitting up is advised? time is of the essence in this investigation, we can meet up in front of the big top afterwards, as we did before." marwan notes, with 4 of them split up, they should be able to get everything done in time. hopefully.

Robin reports on what she saw. If she didnt see what she was looking for (post 345), she adds:
"On the one hand, we could cover everything by splitting up. BUT, here's the problem I see. One group finds the gate to the Faywild. "Quick, get everybody else!" "Whoops, too late, it's gone".
Let's go right next door to the illusions, look for the Hobbits, toad & wierd girl as we go & do the heist if we run out of time.
She gestures in an "after you" expression toward the Illusion Hall.
Xivros gave a light shrug. "Ah reckon it will all sort itself out in the end. May as well enjoy the carnival while we're here." He was curious about the Hall of Illusions. "If ah was looking to hide somethin' a Hall of Illusion seems like a good place.

they can’t tell if stealing from the carnival owners is a good idea, or if they should follow Mister Light’s original request to keep improving the happy mood of the carnival. They’ll go along with Robin & Xivros, heading to the Hall of Illusions.
The kenku nods. "Yes, I will return the voice." He follows you to the Hall of Illusions, where Candlefoot continues to punch tickets.
"Hello, Candlefoot," the thief says, in Candlefoot's own voice. "I am here to return what I have taken."
With a small flourish of a wing, the small curse is lifted. Kenku skwaks, and Candlefoot actually smiles. "Thank you!" he says, in the exact same voice. It is mildly disturbing, but you get used to it quickly. "Before you go in, let me reward you with a few acting lessons!"
After getting a few pointers on acting, which you feel are more useful than you might normally expect, you again turn your attention to the Hall of Illusions. "Go right in... keep your tickets, of course. For you, this feature is free!"
Tall mirrors line the interior walls of the tent. The mirrors near the entrance reflect onlookers in their youth; the images grow steadily older, until the mirrors deep within the hall reflect onlookers in their twilight years.
As you scrutinize your reflections, feel free to describe what your characters looked like as children and what they might look like in old age. Also, make Perception checks if you are looking for the halfling.

"Much obliged." Nodding to Candlefoot in thanks as they enter the hall. Xivros, doesn't look drastically different through the years. A pretty, almost angelic looking youth, to a tall, lean man with a mild smile and warm eyes, to a middle aged man of similarly soft features and amazing hair. In his elder years it goes from blond to white, and his face is sun weathered and wrinkled in a friendly sort of way, still straight and tall until his very oldest days where he finally starts to take on a slight stoop. He smiles at his reflections as he passes them by.
He does still keep an eye out for the halflings, but he's also looking for the cat Star as well remembering she might have a fondness for mirrors. ((21 perception))
None of the images of young Robin are unhappy. Not one.
Playing Fly-ball with friends, Howling with laughter as a goblin trips on shoelaces she's tied together. Racing from one amusement to the next last time she was at the carnival.
Then pokerface.
In old age she has white hair, clerical robes instead of adventuring clothes and the edges of her wings are frayed from use.
But her image faces away from the viewer as if the mirrors don't know what will happen.
"Harumpf!", she says, looking at what was and is. "I'd rather look for the hobbits."

Brenviel walks slowly through the Hall of Illusions, taking in their image in each set of mirrors with a thorough, quizzical scan before moving on to the next section.
As a young child, Brenviel's human side was more apparent than their elven half. Brenviel sees their reflection turning and chatting unreservedly with creatures just out of view. They seem much more comfortable around others, less reserved and watchful than they have become today. Less worried about 'seeming normal' or 'doing conversation RIGHT'.
As Brenviel ages, the elven half of their ancestry becomes more and more pronounced. Their ear tips grow pointier, peeking through their teal blue hair, and their eyes take on a distinctly Fey glimmer. The agelessness of elves means Brenviel's appearance doesn't change significantly compared to their current state - skin tone and bone structure remain the same. Their hair goes through several stylistic modifications, gaining a silvery white streak at one temple. It seems that whenever their hair becomes too long or 'femme', they take a hard turn back toward androgenous, with an asymmetrical style, shaved pattern undercut, or minor mohawk. The only true sign of aging is a slight wizening visible on their hands - still seen clutching a book or scroll, at any age. It seems their thirst for knowledge is unchanging!
At the middle of the attraction, Brenviel drags their attention away from their own reflection and does a full 360* scan for the halflings and anything else seeming 'out of place' that might signal hidden creatures or objects tucked away amongst the mirrors.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Cadence follows the others to the Hall of Illusions, not otherwise knowing where to go or how to get there. He looks nervously about as they go, nostrils twitching.
Perception: 18
Cadence is immediately captivated by the mirrors nearest the entrance. They show a young leveret playing and tumbling with his companions, as carefree and ignorant of the passage of time as only a child can be. He tries and fails to conjure the memories of his youth that are pictured here. They may as well be images of someone else. He casts his mind back as far as he can and discovers a veil of shadow over everything before his unexplained appearance near the village of Drayfoot as a young adult. He can remember that day at least. It was like waking from a deep sleep but having no memory of anything that went before. How could this place hold these memories when he himself did not? Was that him? Who was he playing with? Did he have siblings? Where were his parents?
In the intervening years he has come to accept this void in his memory. The order of monks who took him in and made him one of their own is his family. He knows no other, and has long since given up searching within himself for answers he knew were not there. He is Cadence of the Wind. He is a monk, at one with the natural world, caring for it as it sustains him. One of the brotherhood, nothing more, nothing less. But these mirrors have opened up a possibility he had locked deep away within himself. Here his past is laid out in front of him. He reaches out toward the mirror as if to touch the vision, to see if it is real, but pulls back. He doesn't want to touch it and find it is just an illusion. Just entertainment made to draw in the punters. Can it be real? Can it be his actual past, lost to him for so long? He desperately wants it to be, but just as desperately wants it to stay locked away. Bringing it out would be too complicated, too messy, too painful. Too full of questions for which he is not prepared.
He stands staring at these mirrors for so long, one paw half outstretched and his emotions whirling around like the Witchlight carousel, that he totally loses track of the rest of the group.
Realising that he is relying on them to help him find his way, he tears his gaze away from the illusion. Yes, illusion, that's all it is. It's in the name of the attraction after all. Just a made-up story, not real. Surely, it must be? Looking around, he tries to spot the others. Assuming they have progressed through the Hall of Illusions, he follows some of the other carnival patrons who are giggling at the images of themselves as youngsters.
Moving away from the mirrors that reflect youth, Cadence sees himself as he is now. Lithe, fit, lustrous fur. He smiles and smooths his ears, pausing for just a heartbeat to admire himself.
The later mirrors show a Harengon with greying fur, stooped with age but still bright-eyed and alert. And... were those children? Grandchildren? Cadence's jaw drops at the sight of an elderly version of him playing with some laughing leverets. This was something he had never considered, never fit into his view of the world. How could it be? His vows would not allow for a family, surely? Then he remembered. An illusion. Of course. It's not real, just a made up story to make people feel good. He shakes his head to clear the confusing images from his mind.
He hurries on to find the others, breathing a huge sigh of relief when he sees Xivros and Brenviel. Looking over his shoulder back towards the mirrors as he approaches them, he says,
"How do they do that? With the mirrors? I mean, it's not real. Is it? Do they just show you what a young version of you might have looked like?"
Marwan admires his younger self, who seems a bit more handsome and a lot shorter, but teary-eyed and holding a balloon, his older self has graying hair and a wrinkled face his bag has his name stitched legibly on it, and appears to be using a notepad, both have better looking clothes then what Marwan has decided to dress himself in tonight, he seems to be remembering a fond memory from the past for a moment before he realizes the others are speaking. "I remember coming in here as a boy when I snuck in and lost my stuff...I was lost myself in here for an hour or so, I had to get my mum to sing me to bed, I've never really liked the place cause of that, even if I treasure the memory of me mum, pretty sure I looked just like that back then, you know I stole that balloon too, you know, hehe...my sis paid for it after, brought her along, can't recall clearly if she snuck in with me or got herself a ticket...anyway, I'm not sure how it works, it's an illusion, perhaps it draws on your memory, if you have it, but xivy's theory is sound as well. we should stick close, and try to avoid being separated. I don't want to get lost again " Marwan is on guard, trying to remember the layout from when he was a kid, (Wisdom check for that: 15) So that he'll always know the way out, at least.

Xirvos and Bernviel manage to find the halfling after a minute or so of searching. The halfling is gazing worriedly into a mirror, and a little girl in a pig mask can be seen in the pane, whispering to the halfling’s youthful reflection. As soon as she sees you, the girl turns and disappears.

(The wording has me a little confused as to which is in physical form and which is in the reflection - when it says the girl turns and disappears, is that the person physically in front of us who runs off? Or is it the image in the mirror that leaves the picture? ((If they are different, I want to talk to the halfling about what we saw in the mirror. If they are the same, I want to chase after her))
Can Brenviel make a perception or wisdom check to see if the Kenku is trustworthy, or is just trying to get them in trouble with the carnival owners?
