"Um..." Cadence begins to answer Robin's question. He wants to explain, to find out whether the mirrors showed truth or illusion, even though he knows the others probably wouldn't know for sure. But he doesn't know where to start. Besides, there are more pressing things to attend to right now.
"Not really," he finishes, lamely.
"Ho, something seems to have upset this small fellow. I think." He touches a paw to his chin in contemplation. "I never have been much good at reading faces without fur."
To the halfling, as if to confirm his hypothesis, "Has something upset you?"
Brenviel responds directly to the halfling's question:
"I am Brenviel. My companions and I were looking for you because you seemed quite upset earlier out in front of the main tent. Is there something you have lost or are missing from this Carnival? We all seem to be in a similar situation and would be happy to help you if we can."
Barely pausing to take a breath, Brenviel proceeds to explain rapidly to Robin & the others "In the mirrors I saw my own reflection, but younger and then older than I am now. In this fellow's reflection, however, I glimpsed a young girl whispering in his ear. There were no other beings present in my reflection so I'm not sure what it means that his had a visiting apparation. The girl ran off out of view when we got closer, though.
Turning back to the halfling, Brenviel picks up again as if they hadn't cutoff their previous interaction. "Who was that young girl in the reflection, by the way? Is that the girl you were proposing to earlier, who ran off with your ring? Is that what you're missing?"
"Wait", Robin says to Brenviel. "Ran away deeper into the mirror? Or into the maze? Was there anything strange about her? I recall mention of a "wierd girl" up to something."
Turning to the halfling, she says "Dude, if that's not your girlfriend, tell us about her and go find your girl. That statue in the case you stood in front of! It has a Laughing Spell! She wasn't laughing at you, but the magic."
Turning to the mirror she mutters to herself "But if the girl ran deeper into the mirror, then..."
Without finishing her sentence (or waiting for an answer), she reaches to touch the mirror with a finger.
"A spell? Really?" He immediately starts to cheer up. "That pig faced girl was someone else. She asked me if I had any regrets, and said that if I did, she knew someone who could help him—he just had to follow her. Then you came. But if it was a laughing spell, perhaps I should try my proposal again!"

Xivros approaches the mirror they'd seen the reflection in and touches it, rather distracted by his curiosity and not paying much mind to the conversation, though he does say absentmindedly "I just saw myself, but it was a girl in a mask. Not a pig person." Not realizing his disconnected comments might be confusing.
"How strange, walking further into a mirror, it implies walking away from the mirror in reality, if it was truly the reflection of another, but she was not there, as if she only existed in the mirror, but then again, it could be something of an illusion, I've heard of ways to make yourself unseen by the naked eye, at the least." Marwan tries investigating the wall opposite the mirror that they saw the girl in, or the inverse of going into the mirror, it seems more plausible to him then the alternative. (Investigation: 18) "I believe i saw a simlairly ashen girl luring children away from the displacer beast at the lost and found, the one who asked us to look for star, who was watching over them, they were holding out a lollipop to one of them, could be dangerous."

it sounds like the pig-masked girl only appeared to the halfling and only within this one mirror. Brenviel isn’t sure whether there’s something special about this halfling and his story, or perhaps something special about this mirror - - if the masked girl is “inside” the mirror, is that “the other side” they’ve all been trying to find a way to enter?
Brenviel would like to Investigate this mirror and see if they can discern anything magical or portal-like about it. (OOC: since they’re checking for magical aspects, I wasn’t positive if it would be an Investigate or Arcana check, so I rolled both (each in game log). Let me know if I should use something else!)
You cannot tell how to use the mirror, but it is pretty clear that it can be used as a portal to Brenviel.
Here is what the girl in the mirror looked like. Some of you have spotted her among the crowds. You have also caught glimpses of the other two creatures in this image.

Brenviel turns to the others, telling them all (if they didn't already) that the mirror must be some kind of portal or doorway.
"I can't figure out how to get... through. But surely this must be the 'other side' we've been looking for, don't you think??
oh wait! I can figure out some more about it if we have time..."
Brenviel would like to cast Identify if possible, which they have as a 'ritual' that will take 11 minutes. If the group agrees that we have time, it sounds like the spell would reveal how the mirror works.
*OOC: ahh ok then maybe I can’t cast it now? It’s not on my prepared list but it is showing up on my main spellcasting /actions page on character sheet.*
Closing his eyes, Xivros slowly walks directly away from the mirror until he runs into something. "Some fairy magic requires strange conditions. Like turning one's clothes inside out or having a coin in your mouth."
Brenviel turns back to the halfling to ask them a few more questions about the mirror:
”was the pig-masked girl in the mirror as soon as you entered here? Or did she appear later on? What was she whispering to you? Any details you could tell us will help us find her and help the others who’ve lost things at this carnival”

"Yes, she was wearing a pig mask. Her skin was somewhat ashen too, but maybe she was just dirty. "

Xivros shrugs "I'll give it a go." and tries to walking into the mirror.
Xivros bangs into the mirror.
(To clarify, you have seen these 3 in the carnival - only the girl with the pig mask was seen in the mirror).

"Ok. Maybe a magic word? Or..." Thinking of what one of the others said, he turns away from the mirror at what's directly opposite it.

(OOC: do rituals take a spell slot?)
(rituals do not take a spell slot, so the extra time saves you resources. But you do have to have it on your prepared list for the day.)

Cadence, childlike, peers round the back of the mirror, as if the answer lies round there.
(If getting behind the mirror is physically possible).
((Check your class features. There are different rules for ritual casting based on class.))
Closing his eyes, Xivros slowly walks directly away from the mirror until he runs into something. "Some fairy magic requires strange conditions. Like turning one's clothes inside out or having a coin in your mouth."
Xivros hits the mirror behind, but ntohing else of interest happens.
