So apparently I was working with an older cached version of the map when I started rolling for my attacks when I thought Freya and Chadwick would have advantage, but now I see that area they were going to be is on fire, so going to avoid it, well, like it's on fire...
"Time for revenge Freya!" Chadwick yells as he urges Freya around the glowing spear at a 10' distance to avoid an AoO.
After Freya attacks (if she does) then Chadwick will use his BA to cast Hunters mark.
So here is where it might get messy. Since I originally thought I had advantage I rolled twice for first attack. I'll keep those rolls unless you want me to start over.
First attack 18 (accidentally rolled damage first so discount that first 10) lance dam 13 +1 HM +13 smite
If that and if Freya's damage is enough to kill spear orc his next attack will go against the axe orc. If not keep plugging away at spear orc.
Lance dam 6 + 4 HM + 13 smite
Not sure if it matters but smite deals radiant damage.
Chadwick wheels Freya around the combat to bring his lance to bear, killing both orc leaders. The remaining orcs are turning to flee.
At this point you hear a wrenching of splintering wood and the floating ship jerks up into the air a bit higher. There are two ropes with grapples holding the ship to the ground still.
Starker runs to the nearer of the grappled ropes and hops on the grapple and hugs the rope if this is possible without getting close to an orc. “Come on, friends! When else will we get a chance like this?!?”
Starker begins climbing the ropes holding the flying ship to the ground. Chadwick uses Laying on Hands to cure Hoid. Kragen is able to continue his Aura of Vitality spell for another 9 rounds of 2d6+5 healing. All recover full HP during this time.
The ship suddenly lurches downwards and lands in the lake with a great splash. Starker is thrown from the rope to the ground as it goes slack. There is a moment of quiet until a half-elven woman appears from a door in the stern castle to the main deck. She is wearing leather armor and has a drawn longbow she aims at Starker. "My thanks for taking care of the orcs. Now," she starts calmly then raises her voice, "BACK OFF FROM MY SHIP!"
Starker puts his hands up slowly and says, ”I am sorry, Captain, if my enthusiasm for the novel and beautiful overcame me. I am so interested in the new that I forget the old proprieties. Please forgive me. I meant and mean no harm.”
Trolkarl trying to help with the tension steps forward speaking calmly.
Captain, deepest apologies for my friend's eagerness. He did not mean to disrespect you- it was only his wonder for such a beautiful unique vessel. Starker has a curiosity for all things magic and I fear in his excitement he may have overstepped.
You can see is remorseful.
We would be honored to meet with you properly. And perhaps, if it is not too much trouble, allow Starker a few moments to further admire the beauty of this ship from the outside - or perhaps even a brief look within if it pleases you. We have no ill intentions; we only wish to introduce ourselves properly. Perhaps, I should start - Trolkarl Ravenshield.
Hoid will kick both of the corpses of the orc leaders, hard, kick them again, and search them for valuables. After the search is complete, he will kick them again.
Hoid will kick both of the corpses of the orc leaders, hard, kick them again, and search them for valuables. After the search is complete, he will kick them again.
Gneuman watches Hoid intently. Then follows up with a kick of his own, just to see if it provides a certain level of satisfaction.
Surprisingly, it does.
Gneuman looks at Ajax, shrugs and joins the rest of the group.
Ajax follows Gneuman's kick with one of his own. His draconic grin seems more pronounced following that. He then takes flight and lands upon one of the sail spars of the galleon. The half-elf woman eyes him warily.
"That sounds like a made up name," the archer responds to Trolkarl. "Why are you here? And, what is your intent?'
Hoid roughs up the dead orcs a bit more, just to be sure. Searching the orc corpses he finds a collection of poorly made battle axes, light crossbows, a great axe and a nice spear. There are coins and miscellaneous treasure to be found: 138cp, 84sp, 29gp, Banded Agate 10g x 6 as well as ropes, pitons, grapples and other mountain climbing gear. The spear carrying orc has a wadded up piece of parchment with what appears to be a map scrawled on it. It looks like the area of the Spine of the World that you are currently in. There is an "X" at what looks like the top of a larger mountain. Beside this X is a crude drawing of what looks like a winged snake.
The ettin used a skull with sharpened edges as a battle axe and a tree trunk as a club. No treasure. Filthy and disgusting. The corpse farts as you search it.
The spear is not enchanted, well made of polished wood and good steel. An eye icon is etched in the blade.
I assure you Trolkarl Ravenshield is my real name. Though I suppose my father should be credited with creativity. In any case, it is my name and I suppose I do feel a need to live up to it.
Looking down And too well-known of late.
Smiling and looking back up at the captain
As to why we are here, I promise our intentions are noble. We’ve been aiding a somewhat nearby village that’s been recently raided by another group of orcs. When we saw your ship, we were concerned it might pose a threat to the villagers, so we came to investigate.
He gestures towards Starker and the rest of the group. You can see how curiosity and little caution got the best of us. But I assure you, we’re no danger—only concerned for the people we’ve been trying to protect. And since we are exchanging names and pleasantries, what would the name of the captain of this ship, and their intentions be? It's only fair
Starker to the archer lady, “We were in a nearby town and saw a remakable phenomenon in the sky, something coming down from the heavens, tumbling and seemingly trailing fire. My curiosity and my companions’ desire to render aid where needed drove us here. I intended to learn and they intended to help. They have had their intent fulfilled. My curiosity remains unslaked. Pray be so kind as to tell us as much as you care to of your astonishing ship ship and your no doubt fascinating voyages. Perhaps you would be so generous as to allow us a tour?”
She looks all of you over and lowers her bow, keeping the arrow nocked. "I am Mallinora, Captain of the Rogue's Respite. You witnessed our....rough landing. As you can see," she looks around the ship. "we are in need of repairs." The ship is looking pretty rough. There are two holes in the hull, thankfully above the waterline. The sails and rigging appear to have suffered significant fire damage. The railing on the main deck is splintered in places and there is a 15' section missing on your side of the ship. "We could use a capable group to serve as marines for the return trip to port. You seem capable and I see that you are followers of the One-Handed God. I can accept your assurance in his name that your intentions are peaceful."

Gneuman whispers to Ajax, "Oh, great. Now were going to be pirates?" "We should have stayed in the Fae Realm and started a dewberry farm."

Chadwick will use lay on hands on Hoid to heal 25hp.
The next round he'll do a cure (1st) on him which also targets Freya. 6HP.

14 Persuasion, if needed

Would the magical types see if anything, such as the nice spear, is magical?
Should have looked over the ettin corpse too.
The ettin used a skull with sharpened edges as a battle axe and a tree trunk as a club. No treasure. Filthy and disgusting. The corpse farts as you search it.
The spear is not enchanted, well made of polished wood and good steel. An eye icon is etched in the blade.
Chadwick will stow the spear on Freya to add to his growing collection of weapons unless anyone objects.
MADE UP?!?
