Starker whispers to Cyrus, “Oh great! We get to be pirates!” Puts on gloves, selects a dried mango slice marked ‘3’, feeds it to Cyrus, takes off gloves such that they are inside out, carefully stows them, makes a few notes in his notebook, saying aloud, “Outstanding!!! I am ready to serve!”
Chadwick tells Freya that she did such a great job in the battle and really helped the party. He brushes her coat a bit while telling her this.
"We're going to see about exploring the flying ship. Help Gumbee keep an eye on the horses and mules. If you see or sense any trouble let me know and I'll come running."
Chadwick will then join the others only taking his daggers with him and his helm under his arm to avoid looking confrontational.
Hoid says, “Mallinora, what is the proper honorific to associate with your name? You may call me Hoid, or anything else that suits you. In order to assess whether we should undertake your request to act as marines, what are your terms and destination? If you are unwilling to divulge a specific destination, a general vicinity will do.”
To the group, but not loud enough for Mallinora to hear.
"While the idea of being a pirate sounds fun in a romantic way of exploring the high (seas?). The reality is they are nothing more than brigands praying on the weak and innocent. Tyr would never condone such behavior from one of his followers. I vote no for becoming her lackey.
I would like to know why they were under attack by the orcs though."

"Greetings, Hoid. I am Captain Mallinora. Tradition says to address me as Captain. I am not as caught up in tradition while in port, but while on ship I insist. Do you speak for you and your companions?," she asks.
To the party. Mallinora could be a powerful ally. For the pragmatic among us- our current situation is highly limited by our speed. And I fear I may be needed in the south at some point soon
So long as we a protecting someone that needs help it is difficult for me to refuse. She has asked for marines not pirates. I am happy to ask if this ship is licensed with any letter of marque but I think alluding to piracy outright would be offensive and counterproductive
“Captain Mallinora, I speak for myself but try to ask insightful questions to benefit my companions. If anyone speaks for the group, it is likely my companion with the made-up-sounding name.”
Starker, in an aside to party members: “We have a chance to fly through the air in a ship! Why are we hesitating? Think of what we’ll see of Faerun from above! Think of what we’ll learn! Does it really matter what esthetic the Captain adheres too, so long as we come to a reasonable arrangement as to pay and shares and she keeps her word? In ten thousand years anyone we happen to have had killed while serving her now will be be dead anyway! So, when you think about it, it really doesn’t matter. Let’s fly!”

"Well 'Trolkarl' of the Made-Up-Name, what say you to joining on as a marine contingent? Although I am still waiting for your word, and that of the servants of the One-Handed," she says looking to Kragen and Chadwick, "that your intentions are not hostile towards me. I can offer you 100gp each for the trip to port and after repairs are completed a return trip anywhere on Faerûn that you desire to go," she states.
You all get the impression that she is interested in making this deal.
Captain Mallinora, one question to reassure my companions. We have recently visited the city of Luskan, and that experience may have colored the impression of some of my honorable friends. Having suffered learning at the court of a realm on the Sea of Fallen Stars, I am somewhat familiar with letters of marque and authorized private vessels at least those that sail the sea. Letting these good men of Tyr know that you are not operating on such terms would reassure their good nature and help them quickly agree.

Mallinora listens to Trolkarl and a look of understanding comes across her face, "You think I am a pirate. A Pirate!!," he voice climbing into a yell. "Look around you rock-troll! Does this look like a pirate ship to you?" She gestures and makes an exaggerated point of looking around the ship. The holed hull, torn and burned sails and rigging, the shattered railing and scattered debris across the deck stand testimony to her words. Her shoulders sag a bit and the fire leaves her eyes as she continues, "Okay, it does kind of look like a pirate ship at this point." She takes a deep calming breath, "The Rogues Respite is an armed private ship of trade operating from the Rock of Bral under letters of commission by the Trader's Alliance. We are not pirates." Her look becomes a bit harder, "But, if we find them we are not afraid of ending the scalawags if we can. I am not hiring on a pirate crew. I need help getting back to Bral safely. There I will hire a crew and resume trade, bringing you back here if you like. Just give me your word you will hold this bargain in your god's name."
At the end of her speech, Gohumbee clears his throat loudly, "Master Trolkarl," he starts pointing behind you from the gorge you came from, "something approaches."
Mallinora follows Gohumbees pointed hand, "Please tell me that dragon is with you...."
Flying low to the ground above the stream, you see a white dragon rapidly closing on your position.
"Captain Mallinora, well meet, my name is Kragen Gravelbeard of Clan Delhalls, Cleric of Tyr." nods respectfully
"We happen to have been investigating an abnormal situation when coming upon your ship being accosted by the Orc clan here. Perhaps some additional information would be of benefit, if i may"
"Why are you here? what brings you to the Spine of the World, an oddly remote place for a Ship to be traveling? What is your business in this region? Why were these vile creatures attacking your ship? I would better understand your intentions and purpose." Looks quite stern at the Captain.
"If we are to consider your offer, additional information would better demonstrate your trustworthiness?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kragens questions fall on deaf ears as Mallinora readies her bow and takes cover near the stair of the stern castle of the ship.
You hear the dragon screech on its approach up the valley. It flies in to land by the horses and attacks them with claws and bite. Bite to hit 26 for 17 piercing plus 6 cold damage. Claw attacks to hit 19 for 12 slashing damage and to hit 19 for 7 slashing damage.

Mallinora watches you all discuss amongst yourselves the novelty of piracy, waiting for an assurance of your intentions...

While discussing their options Chadwick will use Divine Sense to see if he can pick up on anything.

Seems reasonable. Shall we?

Two mules fall dead from the attacks. The remaining horses and mules bolt in fear. Gohumbee is paralyzed with fear just before the dragon.
Freya remains at Chadwick's side.
Gohumbee stands, staring at the dragon. His hands remain raised holding the reins no longer there as the horse turn to scatter.
Trolkarl to act.
We're we able to complete a short rest between resting in the healing circle and standing around talking?
