Chadwick appears giddy coming out of the Lucky Lady and possibly drunk. When he gets within earshot he hugs Starker saying "Buddy!' then drops his voice so only those close by can hear. He now sounds sober and concerned.
'We need to get off the street. The threat isn't from Vox, but we've been made. We should close the distance to our gear, but get a private room somewhere else."
He then wraps an arm around Starker and starts heading towards the original inn. Looking for a bar or inn that has private rooms.
Again in a low voice so only those around him can hear "We have a good lead, but there will be violence."
He says cryptically since the author has been drinking and watching a show about private detectives.
The street seems lively tonight. People are moving about and can’t help be feel watched. A large tavern comes into view as you round a corner, the Concubine. You are on the edge of mid- and low-town at this point. Checking it out they have a raucous common room as well as more private rooms, with and without entertainers.
The exchange with Durgan Vox at the Lucky Lady is completed. You are now in a private room of another tavern, the Concubine. The food and drink here is definitely subpar compared to the Lucky Lady despite your now being in mid-town. Information about the most recent sighting of Lady Arin Stormrider was gained from Vox pointing to a fight club in low town. She was seen in the company of a tiefling named Duren. Vox and his assistant both warned you about the danger surrounding Duren.
It is now later evening and the streets are busy with tavern goers and those seeking the entertainment of the night.
Chadwick starts pacing while he talks. Well we got the info we were after, some extra cash, and a fortune telling fish. Seems like a win for this phase. By the way I'm calling him Davey for now, but we can discuss that more later.
Vox isn't too bad of a guy, as long as you don't cross him or waste his time. He wasn't happy with the initial offering of the globe and was becoming increasingly agitated with the delays. Luckily as I started turning up the charm I praised him as a host and it turns out tonight is a big celebration for the Giff, the Gowal or something like that. Getting an unprompted compliment is a sign of good fortune, and that really smoothed thing over. That was the reason for all the festivities and what we thought sounded sinister with the aides comment about "the plans". Turns out it was just party plans, but that aide is still a dick. Our paranoia almost got the best of us. Chadwick winces a bit after that.
Vox stressed that Duren is a dangerous fellow and people often go missing around him. The lady was reported to looking nervous around him, maybe even scared. He suggested us walking away from this, but he knew we wouldn't. Chadwick chuckles. He really does know us well. He said that we'll need to take a softer approach in that area, that violence is their only tool and they adept at it. And the most important thing of all, don't talk about the fight club.
He gave us a little more background info too. The crew we hit was the Juggler’s Blade. They are actively looking for someone named ‘Craddock’ he laughs out loud and points to Trolkarl and in league with the temple of Tyr. If Kragen has his holy symbol out Chadwick points to how his is now hidden.
Also I think one of the dancers fancies me. He blushes a bit after that.
He pauses to talk a drink. That's most you've ever heard him talk at once.
Starker: ”Steel yourselves, as I am about to discuss Fight Club. Though I am unfamiliar with the term, let us proceed with the assumption that at meetings of the Club some people fight while others wager on the outcome. It is likely that those who wager will want to observe the event. During the battle, all eyes will this be on the field of combat … all eyes but ours. We will be looking for the spiral staircase, having gained admittance by offering to place a wager.
”Now, there maybe some areas of the establishment only accessible by participants in the bouts, and other areas accessible only by those who place large wagers. If this chain of assumption and conjecture holds, then its combined links lead to to a plan as bruised night follows bloody day.
”Or else we could continue to hone our skills at breaking and entering and access the location when its clientele and workers are elsewhere. Given our young paladin’s warning that we are known and are being pursued, perhaps that would be the wiser course?”
Looking at Chadwick “one comment that concerns me, are you indicating that the Temple of Tyr and the jugglers balls are working together? If so, what evidence we you provided?”, “I recognize we are in a strange place with strange people however I am not sure that Tyr would be pleased!”
“Kragen, I believe you misunderstood the country paladin’s words. Your holy symbols were recognized by the thugs we encountered. The jugglers are looking for a group with Tyr’s holy symbol. It would be best to keep yours out of sight for the time being.”
Chadwick replying to Kragen, "The guards spotted our holy symbols which is why they think the forces of Tyr were involved. We'll need to keep them hidden going forward.
The Jugglers Blade is the syndicate's warehouse we hit. They also own the not-to-be-named club, so we'll be presenting ourselves to the folks that are looking for revenge.
If it is relatively close from the current tavern location to our inn, Trolkarl will return and instruct Gumby to go on a poor dwarves shopping spree. Let me know if he shoudl meet us here or we shoudl all go back to home base
We have drawn a bit of the wrong attention with our usual attire,, and the last thing we need is to stand out more in this neighborhood on the Rock. I need you to find clothes for us- basic items, rugged and fitting for the rougher streets we will be walking. Think workers, dockhands, common traders. We don't need to go down the fashion spectrum to the Gneuman level of simplicity. Just non-flashy practical things. I can't imagine this would be more than a few coins each.
I guess we need to decide what our plan of action is before deciding on alternative cloths.
Chadwick is going to stand out in the crowd even with a cloak and different cloths. I do like the idea of a rough hooded cloak for him that would also help hide the armor a bit. Maybe some kind of hat to help hide his beautiful mane too. He and a couple of others could get some cheap booze and pretend at dicing nearby if another team venture inside. If asked they're bodyguards for some mucky mucky inside gambling.
Ya know, because everyone loves splitting the party.
Could we use locate object to find the spiral staircase? We've seen it through the globe, is that enough to make us familiar with it? If not I guess we could use the second aspect of the spell instead and wander around until we found any spiral staircase.
Chadwick doesn't currently have it memorized so he would need a long rest.
On a side note one thing I really like for Paladins in 2024 they removed the concentration aspect of many of the buffs. Usually I just stick with hunters mark since it's some nice extra damage and helps with tracking down fleeing enemies, but it would be nice to be able to stack some of them.
The group is currently gathered at the Concubine. The night wears on as it is 9-10 PM. The tavern is crowded and busy. Last night things died down a bit after midnight. Then, got quiet around 2AM.
Starker hands Cyrus several unmarked dried mango slices and sets him as lookout just outside the door of The Concubine with instructions to telepathically let Starker know if armed men in a group approach and appear to be about to enter.

Chadwick will get a private room for the group along with some food and drink.
Once folks are settled and the staff are gone he'll start filling in everyone with what happened with his encounter with Vox.
I'll be tied up this morning, but will post a summary over lunch.

Plans?
I think we are waiting on the info dump from Chadwick to be written during Jeremy’s lunch today.

“Well done Sir Chadwick!” Clapping him on the back.
”However I care not if this Vox is a virtuous character. He kept his end of the agreement!” Harrumphs threw his beard.
”Now that we have the location, which shall not be named, and the nefarious abductor, let’s lay out a plan to retrieve the young lady.”

Gives 100 silver.
Gumby says he will go once shops open in the morning.
You were all wearing armor, at least those that do. You want clothes to wear over the armor? So, traveling cloaks and suck?
I guess we need to decide what our plan of action is before deciding on alternative cloths.

Did Chadwick or Trolkarl learn anything about how this fight club works? Purely fisticuffs? How are winners determined?
The group continues to discuss options at the Concubine, over mediocre ale and food.
