Starker:”My only hesitancy is that my way of Identifying the properties and conditions of a magicked item require that Cyrus or I touch it for the time it takes to boil three eggs. With a ward gate, the touch itself might set it off. I suggest you all retreat, and I will atay just around the corner and use Cyrus’ touch as a proxy for mine. His deatruction would be inconvenient, as I would be so enervated as to be less useful than you might want me to be until I had recovered, which with Cyrus VI took several days.

<Gives Cyrus a slice of mango, the owl’s eyeball, the prism, and a serpent’s scale (as he knows it is abjuration), leaves Cyrus by arch, cowers behind corner, prepares to start the ritual. Will proceed when everyone has gotten into position unless someone proposes an alternate course of action. At the first sign of Cyrus being attacked/in distress will send him to the familiar pocket dimension.>

The Company bravely cowers in the hallway while Cyrus The Courageous places a paw upon the runes. Starker casts Identify through his arcane channel with Cyrus. Nothing visible happens.
Kragen completes a Wisdom check to detect if the runes are truly a Glyph of Warding.
The glyph is nearly imperceptible and requires a successful Wisdom (Perception) check against your spell save DC to notice.
Perception check of 18. My browser doesn't seem to be allowing the auto roll so i used the App (which is posted). If the roll actually logged via the Browser interface, use the greater of the 2 that i tried to roll (adv on percep checks)
“I’ll keep eyes down the throat of that stair. If anything blinks wrong, it gets a bolt between the thoughts.” Action: Fall back 15–20 ft, dual hand crossbows readied. Ready an attack vs the first hostile that appears through/above the arch.
Kragen, at least it isn’t the glyph of ale consumption we would have surely lost you. And despite my fine tastes, I believe I havent any glyph of greed.
All but Xymox are now ascending the stairs. The cool fog curls about your ankles as you traverse the steps. It continues to pool at the base of the steps.

After everyone else ascends the stairs and nothing happens, Xymox will follow.
The stairs climb up to a square chamber paved in the translucent black marble with the ropy, twisting tendrils of flame below the surface of the floor. Three doors framed in stone archways exit the room from each of the other three walls. The doors are wooden and bound in iron bands. The door across the room has fog rolling from the archway that cascades down to the floor and slowly moves across the room and down the stairs that you just ascended. The room is cool and the fog is cooler around your ankles.
Xymox brings up the rear of the group, almost mumbling to himself.
“Up we go, keep low and slow—let fog kiss greaves, not fear, Stone hearts drum, the ward hums—my tune will drown its leer. Count the steps, keep breath in time, let Tyr’s light lead the way— Climb, my friends, with steel and rhyme, and see the break of day.”

Starker:”Our fishy foreseer indicated that we will need to go up several levels to find the next important step in finding Illiandal, so we are likely going in the correct direction, at least as far as concerns the gravitational gradient. So we have that going for us, which is nice.”

This does not appear to be a Glyph of Warding on the arch. But, there is something magical about the glyphs.
Starker:”Curious. The arch wards only against burdened with the Glyph of Greed. Unmarked entities may pass unltroubled.
”I am not so marked, I believe.”

Chadwick waits for everyone to be at least 20' back before walking through.
Chadwick begins climbing the steps, the cool fog swirling around his feet.
Yartol follows, swords drawn.

Starker follows, EmFer’s Chastisement raised and positioned above his head in case the hard rain falls.
Starker and Cyrus, the Murder Monkey, ascend the stairs with Chadwick and Yartol.
