The wall of the receiving room melts away to reveal a large chamber beyond. The floor is of translucent obsidian with ropes of flames writhing about in a random fashion. A huge, intricate silk rug covers the center of the floor. Its patterns geometric, arcane and illustrative of scenes of fiends and twisted landscapes. In the center of it all is a depiction of the eight arrows of chaos surrounded by alien scripts that seem to squirm and mutate as you observe them. In each corner of the room is a bookcase loaded with tomes, volumes, scrolls and stacked parchments. Low tables sit before each of these bookcases. Four intricate statues of fiends stand, two each on the right and left walls. Between these on each wall is a great chest made of stout wood and heavy iron bands. The far wall has two such chests. The center of the room is dominated by a grand table of exotic wood and jade with gold inlays. Beyond that table is another large table at the edge of the rug made of other exotic woods with silver inlays. Resting atop that table is a great sword cradled in two wooden stands. It is bare, with its scabbard also held by the stands. Murals cover the ceiling that is 20’ high. Sconces line the walls at 10’ high providing steady illumination for the room. Several large paintings hang on the walls above each of the chests. Two are on each side wall and two on the far wall.
Chadwick looks up while while dejectedly putting the crystal back in his pouch. "Dang it Kragen, step back and let me go first! You don't want some trap messing up that pretty beard."
He chuckles while scrambling to get between Kragen and whatever might be on the other side of the door.
/OCC I have no idea who is actually carrying it, it was in the party inventory.
Before entering the room Chadwick turns back and says "There was a floor we saw similar to this that would inflict harm of you spoke, so be cautious. That said, get yer asses in here quick and let's shut this thing. The squid heads have arrived." He pauses, then adds;
"Even if we can't close the door, it's easier to fight larger numbers when they can't overwhelm you."
Chadwick motions folks to go through but stands at the door as the rear guard until everyone is through.
“Trolkarl, Xymox, let’s get our guests into this room and make sure there are no dangers afoot.”
Kragen becomes more terse and drops his normal curtesies. “Chad, you likely will have to pull the ring to get the door shut, not sure if you’ll have time to duck in? If we can’t, then we have Starker use his Wall of Fire at the base of the stairwell, you and Yartol can pick off any vile creatures that manage to get through. The rest of us can back you up with our unique capabilities.”
Kragen Stands at the entrance to the room with Chadwick, shield raised in preparation.

If these are the reinforcements, we should check the chests for the phylactery bits.We need to finish the job. Kragen can you find traps? If not we may need to take our chances and just try opening them. We are not going to last long against these things in our condition.

"I cannot find traps at the moment however i could try and Locate Object to expedite the process? However not having seen it specifically limits my chances."
"we should prepare to defend ourselves while we give others time to locate the Phylactery. I agree that destroying it may remove or disable our combatants."

Starker is ready to cast Wall of Fire anywhere it is needed. "We should investigate the tomes and books on the shelves for clues and information," he offers.
Serethia and Brother Kellen move into the room beyond the disappearing wall. She has her wand out and he has his sword readied.
Yay! Visual aids!
"Oh!" Chadwick exclaims loud enough to startle folks. He begins rummaging around in his belt pouches and finally digs out a Black ovoid crystal.
"Maybe this'll work" he says as he checks if it fits.
No
The ring does have an oval shape - interesting
Will the face of the ring fit into the depression? That would be a big gaudy ring!
Did we investigate the room post battle?
It looks like it does.
Kragen takes the ring and sticks the face into the depression.
”prepare yourselves!”

You hear muffled voices and the clamor of arms coming from the the hallway at the top of the stairs.

Can we get the room revealed in Owlbear?
Kragen still has the ring in his hand. The wall melted away when the ring was inserted.
