Gneuman ponders, "Could it be Drow?" "I have never been to the underdark, but this place is cold, damp, and underground." "Maybe nearing that realm, anyway?"
Chadwick does not detect Fiend, Celestial or Undead presence.
All of you now feel the same sensation that you did when in the mountain glade where Herne the Hunter appeared while you were chasing Craddock the Puissant.
The path winds along the tunnel beside the stream leading to the bridge. Written on the bridge is "Pay Toll" with an arrow pointing to a wooden box sitting on the ground. Inside the box you see a few copper coins, a few silver coins, an ivory button, a braided silk cord and a small wooden comb.
Herne the Hunter is a Demi-god associated with Sylvanus. His spheres are wild nature and hunters. He has been associated with the Wild Hunt, but not permanently.
Pay Toll you all find out is written in each person’s native language.
Kragen pulls his vial of Holy Water out of his backpack, places a drop of water in the small wooden box and proceeds to say a blessing to Tyr holding his Holy Symbol (Scales of Justice) above the box. Stands up with a solemn look and returns to his marching order.
If Kragen does not burst into a raging inferno of hellfire or other similar retribution, Hoid will place 1 gold in the box before crossing the bridge. If Kragen suffers retribution, Hoid will wait to resolve that dilemma before depositing his toll.

Hoid begins to cross the bridge after depositing his "toll" in the box. The waters toward the cave mouth begin to swirl and two large serpent forms rise up from the stream to the level of the top of the bridge. They are swaying in a serpentine attack pose. On the other side of the bridge, towards the pool, a large female troll rises from the stream as well. It is as though she was there all along. She is shaking her head side to side while running her claws through her scraggly hair. "That is not a toll, dwarf. You need to offer something important to you. What do you have?," the trolless growls out.
“Troll, how can you know what I value when I do not? I have no memory to know what I hold dear. Can you restore my memory so that I can deposit it in your box? I value my skills, but like my memory, I cannot deposit those in your box.”
Hoid moves to stand in the box, or as close to it as he can.
“Troll, I can put myself in your silly box, because my body and mind, whatever I have left, are of value. But I cannot pay that toll and cross the bridge. So the things that are of most value to me cannot be placed in the box.”
Hoid steps away from the box and picks up the gold coin.
”I also consider this to be of value. I saw what the paladin put in for his toll and I know how he values charity. I measured the coin to be a substantial sum that could do much good for those in need in view of the paladin’s charitable donations.”
Hoid tosses the coin back in the box.
”Troll, what you want most cannot be paid. I have paid a valuable toll. Now let me pass.”

Chadwick will try his Divine Sense again.
Go ahead. I do not fear the murder monkey.

"Is this a domain of Herne? The sensations i am feeling are similar?"
"Trolkarl, your sensing evil or good or neither?"

In what language is “Pay Toll” written?
I feel as we did in the glade. The danger is sensed by Darkbane. I do not know its nature, only that it is significant.
Are any of you familiar with Herne?
Aside from what has been seen since being in the North, Trolkarl is trying to recall things read in the family library or stories he may have heard.

What do we know about the Wild Hunt? (I doubt it is the same Wild Hunt as The Witcher novels/games/tv series of which I have passing familiarity.)
It likely is. Based on Celtic mythology.

You don't have a hair on your dwarf-ass, if you don't answer with, "deez nuts" and grab your crotch.
