Starker, your arcane knowledge surpsases mine. I have never heard of lead stopping any magic properties from emenating from an object. Is there any way we could encase it in another magical box?
I am eager to help Chadwick's friends and family. There is also a part of me concerned that we are also putting the Monstordrank people at risk by bringing these items with us. Maybe confering with your colleagues at the next town and inquiring about a magical bag to hold the ring in some extra dimensional space. It may be a long shot. But it seems more realistic than the current lead solution.
Starker: “I, too, had not heard of lead’s properties until our honest Paladin educated me.
“I would be happy to consult with colleagues. I am highly specialized, concentrating on ways to generate and control high energy density states of matter. It is certain that there are whole fields of magic for which I have no more than a sophomoric grasp. Let us go to Long Saddle. If we need sleep before our arrival I suggest we separate into two groups, one with the talisman, one with the ring. Perhaps
[Kragen, Chadwick, Xymox, Ring]
[Starker, Hoid, Trokarl, Talisman]
“Let us stay within shouting distance, or perhaps further if each group has means to alert the other.”
Starker:”I have heard of a spell by the famous mage Leomund. It creates a chest whch can be used to store objects in the Ethereal Plane. I do not know the spell but I could learn it if I can find a teacher. If I recall correctly, it would require material components costing thousands of gold pieces.
”Or, for free, we could simply bury the talisman and the ring somewhere out of the way and put our backs to them forever. This would grieve me, but not as much as being unable to help our good friend Chadwick in his noble quest.”
The Company is divided in twain. Kragen, Chadwick and Xymox make camp with the lead encased ring. The rest a distance away with the talisman. Meal is cooked and watches set. The early night is uneventful.
Selûne is high when trouble begins. The first to occur are the pinpoints of fire of eyes. The humanoid torso begins to form shortly after. All of this over the lump of lead containing the ring.
The torso continues to form from shadow and smoke. It recoiled from the bright light of the Driftglobe. Kragen sits to start his prayer and the figure turns towards him, pointing. A mote of blackness flies from his fingertip towards Kragen, missing him as Kragen moves from its path. The tree behind him has a small black circle appear in its bark where the mote struck it.
It appears that the apparition is stronger than it was last night. Also, it is beginning to resemble the wraith you fought by the docks in the dwarf mine.

Kragen to those awaken (assume Chadwick). “This is beyond my capabilities or skills. I suggest we return and wait until we hear from the Temple. Continuing on seems futile. The other option would be to dispose of it somewhere where no one would find. However based on the behavior of the aberration, I assume it will reappear in full strength and put others in peril. What say you?”
Kragen looks to Starker. “Mage, why would you want anyone to converse with that entity? What information is needed at this time? Other than, how do we kill or sever the link to this item? If that’s not your purpose, then it’s hard for me to see any other purpose that is useful at this moment?”
Starker:”If this is the spirit of the wraith and if the wraith is Szizzbaran then it knows the Kyton’s name. If the Kyton attacks, knowing its name will give us power to help us destroy it. I believe the kyton will come to steal Trokarl’s sword.”

Before camp (or camps are made)

/Plans?
How long had we traveled before the Ring decided to “act up” in Mirabar?
Mirabar was the first time the apparition appeared. That was last night.
What was our travel time from Deep Wave, where we acquired the ring, to Mirabar? Includes short stay in Shalecliff.
About a week or so
“Chadwick, can you activate the drift globe, please?”, “I would like to see if the suns and moons pattern has any effect on its activity.”
barring no impact
“please extinguish the globe.”
to Xymox “Bard, I suggest you join the others so you can get some rest.” Motions to the other encampment.
takes his bedroll and proceeds to prop against a tree. Pulls out his prayer scroll and enters deep into prayer while our “tiny dancer” performs.
The torso continues to form from shadow and smoke. It recoiled from the bright light of the Driftglobe. Kragen sits to start his prayer and the figure turns towards him, pointing. Kragen thinks to himself… WTF, little druegger!
Kragen to those awaken (assume Chadwick). “This is beyond my capabilities or skills. I suggest we return and wait until we hear from the Temple. Continuing on seems futile. Was the Driftglobe using the light or daylight setting?
Daylight
Starker:”My new drowish acquiaintance, please try to speak to the apparition in a language he might understand. Ask him the Kyton’s name, please.”
Kragen looks to Starker. “Mage, why would you want anyone to converse with that entity? What information is needed at this time? Other than, how do we kill or sever the link to this item? If that’s not your purpose, then it’s hard for me to see any other purpose that is useful at this moment?”
"Kragen, let's try putting the ring into a vial of holy water and see if that contains the fiend.
If you could cast protection versus evil on me I'll unwrap it from the lead and put it into the vial (assuming it fits)"
