Starker:”I wonder if we can figure out a way to overcome the suppression of conjuration, especially given the demise of Illiandil, ot at least hime temporary discomfiture.”
arcana = 26
Suppressing a school of magic can be done. It likely requires a complex ritual delineating the volume to be affected along with the repeated application of power magic energies. Reversing this will require a similar effort.
"Lets have the skeleton open a chest and I'll do the other since I'm assuming it won't last after getting blasted."
Have the skeleton open which chest? One has a mechanical trap that could be disarmed —> Investigation vs unknown DC then DEX check vs unknown DC. Can add proficiency bonus if proficient with Thieve’s Tools.
Starker:”Serethia, do you know a way to pause or end this ban on Conjuration? Ot fo you know of a place nearby where it does not hold?”
“I do not. I am not sufficiently powerful to undo that Abjuration.,” she says. “Also, most spell effects here were cast at ninth level of power making them extremely difficult to overcome. That is likely benefitting us in one important way,” she adds as another powerful concussion reverberates from the dissolving wall.
The wall becomes more translucent for longer moments with each effort by the Mukbok spellcaster. It is making progress.
(( I assumed Kragen would provide Guidance for your efforts. +4 to make attempt = 20. ))
Success. The chest opens. You find a series of preserved organs, each floating in amber resin; one is a beating heart, still animate. There also is an intricate, tiny chest of amazing detail and workmanship. It is constructed of obsidian, mithril and abyssal steel.
Serethia exclaims upon seeing the chest contents, “My chest!”
The skeleton moves over to the other chest and flips the lid open. A mouth appears on the chest screaming, "Thief of my Blood!" At the same time a cloud of noxious, green vapors erupts from the chest filling a 20' radius. The skeleton makes a CON save = 17, success. It is unaffected by the poison vapors. The vapors linger. The skeleton is standing there.
Starker pauses in his examination looks over his shoulder to Sir Chadwick:”I wonder if the fragment of the Titan’s sword might be sufficiently powerful to destroy or damage the phylactery?”
To Father Kragen he says:”You might want to ask her what’s in the box WHAT’S IN THE BOX?!! (After all, we just met her and she does not bear Xagyg’s seal of approval.)”
Kragen turns to Serethia "We have demonstrated our goodwill and intent by freeing you of the Wizards ill device's and restoring vitality. Our constantly curious Mage can be quite cantankerous when encountering new individual's. However his curiousity of intent has merit, What would be of value to Illandil that he would store your personal items in his warded chest?"
Serethia looks at Kragen with an incredulous look. “Do you keep valuables just lying about?,” she asks. “The chest is mine. Please give it to me.”
After a moment of a staring contest she adds, "Besides, he does not know what is in that chest. That tiny one is just the replica. Only I can call back the actual chest."
Starker:”If it involves a variant of Leomund’s Secret Chest, then I will be fascinated to see if the Conjuration ban impacts retrieving of the homomorphic container created using what is, in essence, a simple but expensive conjuring trick.”
Serethia smiles a cold smile and extends her open hand, palm up.
Brother Kellen speaks up, startling several of you. “Gentlemen, if you would return the lady her property we can then focus upon the more pressing need of our escape from this wicked place.Nothing would entertain the Lich more than to see us fall upon one another,” he states.
Yartol nods and returns his attention to the faltering magic wall.

"Can we get someone to try and disarm the mechanical trap, then use the skeleton for the other?
Our time is quickly running out!"
Xymox will try to disarm the trap. Dex check 16.
If successful he will have the skeleton open the other trap.

"Huh, of all the possible traps that was actually the best one.
Could you have it (Jack?) drag it out of the fumes so we can examine it the contents?
I wonder if they heart could be a key?"
(( That did work out well. ))
Jack is able to pull the chest free of the fumes. Inside, you see a large tome. It is bound in a weathered, exotic leather.
Starker:”Oooo !!!!! A tome!!!”
gets tome and starts to read it he can, if he can’t sees if anyone else can, if noone can ritual comp lang.

Starker:”I will leave the decision on that to the wise cleric.”
She turns to Kragen.
