Preston sighs. It wasn't the answer he was hoping for, but he couldn't really blame the dragonborn for it. It didn't matter much at the time. The young solider was disappointed, but tried to hide it.
"It's alright, Wulcrath. We can still have a look around. If anything, we're definitely on Hal's trail if this map is to be believed.", he reassures the red dragonborn. "Keep that coin close-by, we may yet need it."
"I am sure the rock isn't important... it's just an old rock. let's keep pushing forward" Dracor would reply before continuing in whatever direction he thinks is forward.
Wulcrath lets out something between a laugh and a sigh, appreciating the implication that the coin might somehow be helpful, and the Dragonborn hadn't possibly well... blown it a little. "Pfft... Alright, you got it." He says wtih a shrug, tucking the coin back into it's spot.
Though, as he looks at the strange rocks all around the group, he can't help but be curious. "You think maybe this could be where that cave in Hal's writings and on the map is?" He ponders aloud, his embarrassment giving way to more wondering aloud.

"Well... if I have a look around I might?" Wulcrath responds simply to Dracor, maybe a little too used to his tact already. Though, with not much to go on other than the rendition on the map, this might prove difficult. Regardless, it shouldn't take too long to poke around. With that in mind, the Fighter starts to search his surroundings, moving away any obscuring foliage with his blade, having a poke around for any openings in the rock formations. They're the only cave like things of note so far after all.

Preston kind of gets entangled in some bush, ivy and moss for a bit, which lets Wulcrath discover the small opening between the rocks. The gap appears spacious enough for an average-sized human to navigate comfortably, though it might pose a bit of a challenge for the large dragonborn. As Wulcrath peers inside, the faint light filtering through the gap makes it difficult to discern the details within. However, it becomes apparent that the opening widens further into the depths, expanding as it ventures deeper.

"did you find anything good in there? I'm not getting my clothes dirty unless you think Hal could be hiding in there... I'm not out here looking for a racoon nest or anything after all.." Dracor would reply as he waits to hear from his companions.
Wulcrath can only really poke his head in without maybe getting stuck it seems... "Well... It's a cave alright. Can't see a thing captain!" He calls back to Dracor. Removing his skull from the GAPING VOID the larger Dragonborn dusts himself off a bit, His silver eyes catching Preston's predicament. He can't quite keep down the little chuckle that rumbles out of him. "Heh... Watch yourself there friend."
As He moves away from the opening though, he sighs, debating with himself if going spelunking is the right call right now. Best to consult the group then. "Well, It's an opening to some kind of cavern, to state the obvious. But if there's even a chance Hal this is the cave Hal mentioned in his notes..." He turns back to look into the opening, like a little portal to the Underworld itself. "We might not have a choice."
"Well, there's always a choice. One that includes staying in the light sounds quite appealing. And regardless... you've got those strange little... sprites of yours right Dracor?"
Dracor would smile and mutter a few draconic words as he cast dancing lights. one at a time, 4 motes of light would flicker into existence and bounce their way into the cave. "Don't you worry, I'll light the way!" The gold and silver dragonborn would reply with a smug smile before squeezing his way into the opening of the cave. After dusting himself off he would then move the lights a little farther inward... trying to get a better idea of how large the carvern is.
After removing the foliage caught in his armor, Preston looks at the rocky entrance. He is intrigued by the cave. As it seems that this is where they’ll continue their search, the young soldier would try to squeeze through the opening after Dracor. Being able to see thanks to the Dragonborn’s spell, Preston was grateful for the sorcerer’s boom. Of course, he’d never tell him. It would go to his head.
Dracor's Dancing Lights shimmer and illuminate the immediate surroundings, revealing the interior of the cavern to him and Preston. The soft glow of the magical lights casts a warm and ethereal ambiance, revealing the textures and shapes of the stalactites and stalagmites that stretch into the cave's depths.
The rhythmic dripping of water echoes softly, its source still unseen, while a subtle breeze carries the scent of damp earth.
As the lights spread their glow, the pathway ahead becomes clearer. The cave widens, hinting at a larger chamber further within, while the rhythmic drips echo louder, suggesting the presence of a subterranean water source somewhere in the depths.

Ella follows the other two, getting through the entrance much more easily than they do. "Just to remind you," she says as she enters, "I am four feet and three inches tall. I fit through smaller spaces than the rest of you. You can and should ask me to use this ability when it is relevant."
Preston scratches the back of his head sheepishly. It probably would have been a better plan for the smallest of them to go in first. At least if there had been nothing worth investigating, they could have checked quickly and get back on the road. He kept a mental note of that fact for next time.
Once everybody is on the other side, the young soldier would reprise his position at the front and head deeper into the cave.
Wulcrath rubs the back of his neck as he watches the others squeeze into the cave opening, wondering how he's to manage it himself. Eh... should be fine? With nothing but determination and the threat of being left alone outside to wait a while, the Red Dragonborn makes himself as small as he can, praying to whatever god might be watching, and struggles through the opening after the rest of the group. "A-Ack! I-I'm pretty sure I just pulled something!" He croaks out as he wiggles himself against the rocks. Despite the struggle though, he stumbles through.
With his greatest challenge yet behind him as he shakes himself off, the young Dragonborn follows the group, valiantly bringing up the rear as he follows the dancing lights into the heart of the cave. "Never thought I'd find myself spelunking when we entered that house." The Fighter sighs to himself aloud, fixing a crick in his back with a little audible crack as he follows the group.

"Hey now Ella, Just because you are the smallest doesn't mean it is right to assume you should be the one to go into the small dangerous hole first." Dracor would reply with a very matter of fact tone. "I would think it is rude to assume that it would be your job based on your size. I suppose if you want to be the dirty cave checker in the future, my clothes will probably thank you." He would add with a grin as he looks around the damp room. He would then follow the group and move the lights around to help keep things illuminated.
The cavern expands further as your footsteps echo against the natural stone walls. Dracor's dancing lights cast flickering shadows that dance across the cavern's floor. Stalactites hang menacingly from the ceiling, glistening as they catch the light, while stalagmites jut upward from the ground, forming natural sculptures that reach towards the ceiling like silent sentinels.
The air within the cavern is cool and tinged with an earthy scent, carrying a faint aroma of damp moss and ancient secrets. Wisps of mist drift in patches, veiling portions of the cave walls in a ghostly shroud.
As your eyes adjust to the dim light, you notice peculiar etchings carved into the stone walls, some bearing symbols reminiscent of arcane runes, while others depict shapes and patterns that seem to shift and change when observed closely.
A low, almost indiscernible hum echoes through the cavern, accompanied by a rhythmic drip-drip-drip sound. Water droplets fall from somewhere above with haunting regularity that punctuates the cavern's ambience.

"I think it would be the reasonable assumption," Ella counters, dusting off her armor. "If a task required being particularly tall, I'd ask one of you to do it before putting effort into climbing atop something. Caves are rather my natural element, anyway."
