Four small tree like creatures dart out from the tangle of underbrush, unnoticeable from the terrain until they began to move. They lash out with sharp claw like fingers raking across flesh and scale, drawing blood and embedding small splinters deep in the wounds.
B1: Attack on Darastrag Attack: 11 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
B2: Attack on N'Ruel Attack: 23 Damage: 6
B3: Attack on Esvele Attack: 10 Damage: 4
B4: Attack on Tovar Attack: 18 Damage: 5
All creatures have closed to melee range. Each on has AC of 13 and 7 HP. On your turn in combat if you hit and do enough damage to kill a creature go ahead and describe what it looks like in your post.
Esvele gives a shill whistle as she holds up her shield and warhammer, ready to attack the tree like creature in front of her, but seems to be waiting on something. Gwaihir begins to dive down.
Esvele is holding her action to attack, specifically waiting for Gwaihir to enter melee range with the tree creature so that he can help her by distracting the creature. (to gain advantage on the attack)
Darastrag hisses in anger and drops his bow to the ground. He swings his shield around and readies his quarterstaff for an attack... but not before making a snarling chomp attack at the nasty creature that slashed his pretty scales.
Action: Don Shield Move: None Bonus Action: Hungry Jaws (1/SR)

N'ruel easily parries the claw of the creature out of the way with his quarterstaff with one end. Continuing the motion he brings the opposite end of the staff around in a wide arc straight down on it's head, and follows it up with a quick side kick.
Attack: 14 (If at disadvantage, 13), Damage: 6 Bonus: 23 (If at disadvantage, 25), Damage: 7
Both miss at disadvantage...
If not at disadvantage: The drow's staff just misses the creature, but as it dodged out of the way of the staff it created an opening for a devastating side kick to the creature's "face". With his opponent defeated, he quickly glides across the snow to assist Tovar position himself directly opposite of the fighter (Not sure if you do advantage for flanking??).

Darastrag's toothy maw is filled with dry splinters and a thick black ichor as he bites into the side of the tree like creature. The sun harshly beating down and reflecting brightly off of the snow effects the drow monk N'Ruel as his normally precision attacks miss their mark. The vile creatures continue to mindlessly claw mercilessly at their prey.
Parrying both attacks against him by dint of hardened and unexpectedly quick reflexes, Tovar leans forward around his shield and brings his longsword to bear on his twiggy assailant. With a roar, his blade flashes out.
To hit:25
If successful: 10
His massive forearm powers the stroke like a falling comet, splitting the aggressive shrub in twain and creating a puddle of ichor soaked toothpicks. Tovar turns towards Esvele's opponent.

Aerin collects herself and draws deep upon the power of her Patron. A wave of malice surrounds one of the creatures, sapping its strength. With her Hex set, Aerin sends a bolt of eldritch energy towards it (B2).

Esvele blocks the blows with her shield. Gwaihir dives down helping Esvele by distracting the tree creature... She sees an opening and immediately reacts with a swing of her warhammer!
// Warhammer Attack: 8 Bludgeoning Damage: 3 //
She smashes the creature into splinters with one shot! She remarks with a laugh, "Looks like I didn't need your help, Tovar!"
---
Esvele readies her warhammer and charges at the tree creature facing N'ruel Darastrag! As she closes the gap electricity crackles from her warhammer as she swings at the tree creature with a booming blade!
// Booming (Blade) Warhammer Attack: 8 Bludgeoning Damage: 6, if the attack hits the twig is sheathed in booming thunderous energy taking 2 thunder damage if it moves from its space voluntarily. //
With a thunderous crack, Esvele finishes off the creature, standing over its broken body, saying, "Besmirch my lady and you will feel her tempestuous wrath."
The small twig like creature are dispatched just as quickly as they emerged from the tangle of dead brush to ambush our unlucky adventures, leaving a scattering of broken splinters and black ichor across the white snow.
All enemies have been defeated. You are out of initiative order and may post as you please. You may roll a nature check to see if you recognize what these creature might be.

As the creature before him is turned to splinters by Aerin, he looks about and finds all the enemies have been dealt with. Turning back to Aerin he offers her a nod, "Thank you." He pokes and stirs at the splintered monster at his feet and just shrugs. As the others to take a closer look at their fallen foes, the drow will keep an eye out for any other surprises.
Letting out a breath, Aerin nods back to N'ruel. Carefully she keeps her concentration on her hex before moving over to prod one of the creatures' corpses. It looked like a twist of gnarled sticks. In short, nothing that should have been trying to kill them moments before.
"I don't suppose it's coincidence that we encounter wood based creatures in a village telling tales of magical apples," Aerin considers.
Darastrag chuckles at Aerin's observation. His shield again tucked securely behind him, he stands and readies himself to move forward again.

Seeing that to lizardman is ready to move forward again, N'ruel walks over and places a hand on his shoulder. "Perhaps a moment to rest?" He points to the wounds the Darastrag sustained.
Tovar wipes his blade with a handful of leaves plucked from a nearby tree. Replacing his blade in his sheath, he glances towards Esvele and shrugs.
"Merely glad none of us were hurt. The Citadel is said to be a magical place, and no doubt we are trespassing through magical boundaries we cannot comprehend."
Leaning over the smashed and cut little forms, Tovar reaches out and gently brushes a finger against the ichor. Glancing at it closely for a moment, he then wipes it off.
"Hopefully once we're inside the ruin I might be able to figure out more about it. It wouldn't be the first I've visited. We should keep our guard up, though, if those creatures were any indication. If they are harassing the goblins too, then we might not gain a warm welcome," Aerin replies to Tovar. "Does anyone need to gain their breath?"
The lizardman claps N'ruel on the shoulder. "No, dark elf friend with the quick staff. This child of the Khecuala is fine. Thank you for your concern." When anyone glances at the scratches in his hide, they seem somewhat less serious than they looked at first.
OOC: With the temporary hit points from Hungry Jaws, he is only down one HP.
