Templeton looks at his equipment and then at his gold pouch, "It appears some goblin made off with most of my goods. Think I need another pay day or 2 to get back what I lost. But I'm alive to complain about it!"
Templeton looks at his equipment and then at his gold pouch, "It appears some goblin made off with most of my goods. Think I need another pay day or 2 to get back what I lost. But I'm alive to complain about it!"
Pip gives Templeton his share of the reward (10gp) “pay me back whenever or not mhm. You’ll be more useful with some actual gear. I don’t even need this scimitar hehe.”
Nari begins making a list of things they need to do outloud,"There is the wizard, the brothers, Templeton needs gear... All things we must take care of before attempting a rescue." She then turns to the group. "Being combat ready is imperative. We should sort Templeton first."
(Templeton doesn't really need anything, that was just my way of saying all he has to show from his previous adventures was just the starting equipment and gold! Only really item he would like is a long bow instead of short but Im sure we will come acrossed on in no time.)
You are in the common room of the inn. If you would like to sit down, a table in the center of the room looks available. Behind the bar, a female dwarf dries some mugs and nods to a young human, who smiles at you all as he approaches your table.
"Hello," he says politely. "You must be the adventurers Ander and Thistle from Elmina Barthen's Provisions mentioned. I am Toblen Stonehill," he says putting his hand to his chest then making a sweeping gesture. "And this is the Stonehill Inn.
"Currently, we have five rooms available," he continues as the dwarf brings over a tray filled with mugs of cider and places one in front of each of you. "I assume you will be needing your usual room, Mister Hallwinter," the proprietor says acknowledging the grizzled man you rescued.
"Yes," Sildar replies. "And a bath."
"I will have one drawn for you," Toblen responds with a snap of his fingers. A little, wide-eyed boy rushes out of the room. "And what about the rest of you? Elsa has already provided complimentary mugs of cider. Is there anything else we can do for you?"
(Templeton doesn't really need anything, that was just my way of saying all he has to show from his previous adventures was just the starting equipment and gold! Only really item he would like is a long bow instead of short but Im sure we will come acrossed on in no time.)
(You can definitely keep the gold I gave you and use it to go towards that longbow friend!)
Pip thinks for a moment as they are welcomed into the inn. “A snack would be great! Nuts or bread with honey or jam work for me. Maybe a bath sometime later but we’ve got plenty to chat about no?” His mouth starts to water a bit at the thought of snacks.
"I will bring some bread and jam from the kitchen," Toblen says as he makes a hasty retreat to fetch the victuals.
"You know, Daran Edermath, the orchard keeper, is a former adventurer," the female dwarf bartender says as she passes out the cider. "You folks might have something in common. Of course, my sister Gwyn, who is currently studying in Neverwinter, hopes to become an adventurer someday. I think she should put all that book learnin' she's doing to some useful purpose. She was smart to get out of this little town while she could."
A dirty-looking human drifts over to your table with a mug of cider in his hand. "I wouldn't bother ol' Daran Edermath," he says, taking a gulp. "Marauders have been attacking trade caravans on the east end of Triboar Trail. The townmaster is looking for someone to run them off. I think goblins are working with the marauders, too! That's who I would talk to if I was an adventurer looking for some quick coin, Harbin Wester, the townmaster." He gives you all a sly wink and continues drinking.
"Food and a soft bed seem like a nice idea while we plan our next move," says Mayhew. "Sounds like there's work that needs doing, if we want to earn some coin, but it'd be good to get a lead on Gundren and the map as well. What do you all think?"
"Well the marauder situation seems to be the most pressing, plus might be able to get you a lead on that Gundren fella you're looking for if the goblins are involved."
"I wouldn't be worried about marauders on the road to Triboar," a female gnome says. "We have enough trouble with brigands and ruffians right here in Phandalin. The Redbrands hassle every business in town, except for the Phandalin Miner’s Exchange. They don’t want trouble with Halia Thornton, who runs it."
"What Freda says is true," Toblen the innkeeper says as he returns with a tray containing two loaves of bread and some pots of redberry and blueberry jam. “Thel Dendrar, a local woodcarver, stood up to the Redbrands a tenday ago when they came by his shop and bullied his wife. The ruffians provoked a fight and murdered Thel. Several townsfolk saw it happen. The Redbrands grabbed his body, and now his wife, daughter, and son have gone missing.”
"Daddy! Daddy," the little boy who had left to prepare Sildar's room suddenly reappears at Toblen's side, tugging on his shirt.
"What is it, Pip?" Toblen addresses the boy, sounding a little irritated.
“Carp said he found a secret tunnel in the woods, but the Redbrands almost caught him! He also saw weird goblins hanging around!” the boy says excitedly.
"That Alderleaf boy is always getting into trouble," Toblen replies with a half-hearted smile as he sets the tray on the table then turns to the boy. "I thought I told you to stay away from him, Pip, and not to go anywhere near those Redbrand ruffians."
"But, Daddy ...." the boy whines.
"No, 'buts' from you, young man," Toblen admonishes the child. "Now go get a couple of rooms ready for these fine folk here."
Pouting, the boy drags his feet as he goes off to prepare your rooms with a slight glance over his shoulder as he leaves the common room and pub.
"Interesting," muses Mayhew. "Perhaps the Redbrands should be our first order of business. It sounds like dealing with them could benefit the town, with the possible exception of this Halia person."
Pip starts rubbing his head as it begins to hurt. There’s so many options the halfling is overwhelmed and then there’s another Pip?! It’s almost too much to bear! He glares at the Child as if there can only be one pip in this town, joking of course with a snicker following soon after! “Sure sure, the redbrands first then da stuff outside the town. Makes sense to me….” He pauses, “you all seem more uhh… socially adept. You lead i follow for now. Mhm.”
"Well, whatever you decide to do," Sildar says as he pushes himself away from the table, "I am going to get a bath and some sleep. First thing in the morning, I will make my report to the townmaster about those goblins. You can contact me there if you need me." He stands and heads to his room.
Well ol' Templeton ain't got no plans, so I'll run jobs with ya, seems to be no lack of exciting work in these parts. I'm gonna run out to the trading post and see about some upgrades if anyone is interested.
If you're going to the Lionshield Coster, Mayhew will accompany you, to see about selling his Yklwa. Unless Templeton wants to use it instead. Daggers and Eldritch Blast are enough for the kindly warlock now.

Are we in the inn's common room, or somewhere else? Anything else going on near us?

“Whatcha thinkin then? Chatting up dis adventurer, might make sense. What of da wizard? He around?”
Pip ponders as he eats his lunch. Not one for manners his face quickly covered in crumbs. He offers chunks of his read to each of his companions.
"Well the marauder situation seems to be the most pressing, plus might be able to get you a lead on that Gundren fella you're looking for if the goblins are involved."
"They are most likely connected to what happened to Gundren in any case," Nari muses, leaning back in her chair.

((OOC what time of day is it at this point?))
It is late afternoon.
