"Heh, that they do. In the morning we should check it out, although I'm not looking forward to spending the night here.. with all the everything going on."
As Rhea gets up to leave, "Don't forget, if you need help with anything, please ask."
On Kora's way to the stairs, she looks out the window at the storm, trying to see if she can see any mists approaching. She then heads up to join the rest of her siblings, wondering if they found out anything about the sun since she heard them all tramp up the stairs together.
Seeing them all looking over a book of nursery rhymes, she raises an eyebrow, "So... You are my Sunshine? That what we are looking for?"
Akyan stays silent as Anthony and Zathon speak. "River sounds right to me." He says when the other two have a break in their conversation. He glances out the window, unfortunately they'll have to wait out the storm before farther investigating. He nods when Zathon says the'll have to check it out in the morning, though he's not sure how he feels about staying the night here. Not that he has much choice with the townsfolk and all.
Looking to Kora and Aoufie, "Either of you learn anything? We think Aoewyn wants us to check out that cave by the waterfall." To the group as a whole, "At the risk of being accused of being scared of the dark, someone was killed here. Might be a good idea to have a watch."
Leaving the kids unguarded felt pretty effing irresponsible, but maybe he was just paranoid. Aoewyn being a target wasn't shocking, but it was a stretch to assume a completed assassination would bleed over after the fact.
"I found a message from Aunty Grym saying not trust anyone on the portrait. Wise words indeed. I don't mind waiting till morning, but having a watch is a good idea. I am willing to take the first watch as I am not quite ready for sleep" says Aoufie
As you all are talking in the nursery room, you see a young man in black worker's clothing corner in the hallway. He is small of frame and wiry, his brown eyes darting between each of you in surprise, knowing that he just interrupted something. He has an unruly mop of dark brown hair atop his head that sticks out in all sorts of directions, seemingly matching the vibe he gives off. You see he is holding a cloth in one hand and a small bucket of water in the other. He clears his throat hesitantly before stammering, "Uh, sorry to, um, interrupt. I'm just, umm, cleaning the windows..." He awkwardly shuffles over to the window nearby sets down the bucket with a resounding thud, wincing at the sound. Looking embarrassed, he wets his rag in the bucket and then begins scrubbing away the grubby fingerprints all over the window panes.
((If you all want to stay together while resting, there's a guest suite nearby that y'all can occupy for the night))
Thinking back to the storm, you notice that you can hear the winds howling outside, and you can barely hear the gentle pitter-patter of rain on the roof. It's also been a while since you've heard thunder rolling across the sky as well. It appears the storm has greatly died down.
Jared remains seated. "Mum is dead Tom," he calmly tells the angry man. "I am not accusing you of anything but, there is a lot of strangeness going on and I think part of it is this mist you're so scared of. The others are looking for answers in Mum's last words but I think that is only part of it. So I am asking you to come clean about what you know. Face your fear, and tell us all of it. I am not going to try and trick you nor am I going to threaten you. I want you to be the man Mum and the rest of us believe you are and tell us the truth." Jared will get up. "Mum is dead Tom. If what you know brings an end to my brothers and sisters' suffering and uncertainty about how it happened, I will not relent until you tell us." With that, Jared will leave Tom's room and head back to the dining area.
Tom just stands there silently as Jared starts for the door, gripping his pendant in both hands. Just as Jared is about to step out into the hallway, he hears Tom cry out, "Wait!" Turning around to look at the older man, Jared sees that Tom's anger has faded away, leaving behind weariness in its place. He sighs deeply, staring at his pendant as he turns it over in his hands. Hesitantly, he says, "Sit down. I... It's time for me to tell you more of my homeland..."
((PM incoming!))
Nearly half an hour later, Tom closes and latches his door behind Jared, leaving Jared alone in the hallway outside Tom's room. Well, you definitely gained some much-needed insight into why Tom is so terrified of the mist, but the mist sounded like the least of your worries if what Tom told was true. Jared had a lot he needed to unpack mentally now that Tom had opened up to him.
Jared begins making his way down the stairs on his way to the dining area. As he enters the dining area, he sees that the room is devoid of both tables and people. Looks like the workers made quick work of tidying up after dinner. He turns around to head back through the doors, but he stops himself as his keen ears pick up on a hushed conversation emanating from behind the closed kitchen doors nearby. Curious, he moves a little closer, picking up on more of the muffled conversation.
"...found something in the nursery telling them to go the cave behind the waterfall," says the voice of a nervous young man.
Someone else sighs. "Did they say when they're going to head up there?" This voice belongs to what sounds like an old woman, her voice dry and ragged with age.
"Sometime in the morning. They didn't specifically say when."
"Good. Where are they now?"
"I watched them go into the guest suite, but Jared wasn't with them. I don't know where he is."
There is a slight pause before the wizened voice croons, "You did good work here tonight. I will inform Kazahd-nei of what you told me. Those bumbling fools told us right where Aeolwyn hid the artifacts. Too bad they won't survive till morning." The woman cackles softly, the sound of her laughter cold and dead. "You are dismissed. If I were you, I would leave this place before Kazahd-nei arrives. It won't be a pleasant experience for anyone still here."
"Of course, madam."
You hear two sets of feet shuffle away, heading out of the kitchen. You're not sure what manner of conversation you just overhead, but you have the feeling that it doesn't bode well...
The guest suite is quite nice and homely. Comprised of a small living room with three doors that lead to comfortable and slightly cramped bedrooms, this suite is designed to be comfortable and welcoming for all that find their way to Grymhearth. The majority of the living room floor is covered by a fine red rug interwoven with golden threads to form almost hypnotic geometric patterns that seem more and more complex and interconnected the longer you look at it. A small fireplace is set into one of the walls, its hearth cold and devoid of flame. A large couch rests upon the rug in front of the fireplace, and you find that the cushion is very plush and easy to sink into. Several paintings hang on the walls around the room, each bearing images of majestic and primal landscapes. Each of the side rooms is comprised of a small bed made of fine material, a large window that you currently can't see through because the storm shutters are closed, and small wardrobe, and a wooden chest in which you can place your belongings. You all, with the exception of Jared, file into the suite and start preparing to sleep.
In addition to making sure doors and windows are secure and the halls are lit enough for safety, Anthony's focus on his patrol is ensuring the kids and his siblings sleep safely during his watch. He's watchful, but friendly and explains his patrolling as just making sure everything is secure after the storm and reminiscing a bit. Not really a lie on either count.
Jared will eases his way down into the dining area hoping to get a glimpse of who was talking. Failing that he heads to the suite (assuming he knows what they were talking about). If he sees Anthony on his way there he will grab him. "Get to the suite Aunty," he tells the man. "We got to get the other. Evil's coming our way." Jared will head into the suite and yell for everyone. "We got a problem!" With that, he will tell everyone what he has overheard.

Peaking into the kitchen, Jared doesn't see whoever was talking. They scrambled out of there pretty fast.
After Jared fills them in, Anthony gives a short sigh."This puts us in a bind. We're leaving this place mostly unprotected if we try to catch up to anyone snooping at the waterfall." He assumes they'd already have left. He considers saying more, but decides it's better to hear what the others have to say.
Jared looks at Anthony with a puzzled look. "It can't be helped," he tells Anthony as he moves along. "Our priorities are the children then the adults. Everyone else is on their own till we can make sure the children are safe." Jared moves to the suite as fast as he can. "Don't bellyache over what you can't do Aunty. Just focus on what we can do. The rest will have to take care of itself."
Anthony doesn't follow, but maintains his post at the end hall, the only change being drawing flail and shield. As much as he didn't appreciate being told to do what he was already doing by a guy who'd run off to bully people, it wasn't worth debating. Anthony had a feeling any chance to help anyone here was lost when they didn't relocate people as soon as they knew something was wrong.

He shrugs, handing the book over to him. "Was?" he asks with a smirk.
He chuckles. "Some things come full circle... or something." He thumbs through the page idly.

"I can jump in on first." Anthony makes a mental note to double check the windows are all locked as he does his rounds.
On first watch, Anthony will patrol making sure candles are lit and windows and doors are latched.
((Passive perception 14))
"I'll take second." Akyan replies. He's grateful that Anthony offered to take first. The drow is still tired from his journey here after all.
"That makes me on third I suppose."
