~~ Mimzy... As everyone else has retired to bed, you continue to talk with your mother and Fon. As the time ticks on a steady shaft of moonlight slowly shifts across the dining room floor, and Griselda promises to provide you with her map and Broom of Flying in the morning. Channeling celestial energy to hone your senses, you cast detect magic. Please roll both a general intelligence check and a perception check. ~~
Mender wakes up curled up in a tight ball in the middle of his dinning chair, clutching his conch shell tightly in his arms. As he wakes up at the dining table, he would look around... temporarily confused as to where he was until memories of the night before become flooding back. "I guess I overstayed my welcome in the shell.." he would mumble to himself as he placed the rope connected to the shell back around his neck. once the shell was back around his neck, he would rub the sleep from his eyes and take a few long sniffs through his nose. Smelling the meaty aroma, he would wipe a bit of droop from his mouth and jump down from the chair.. moving closer to the source of the smell...
Kaelroc disturbingly wide awake from a beast that snored so loudly minutes ago. Places food on the ground and does push ups, with each down session - takes a chomp out of left overs he just placed. It is apparent his strength takes a lot of calories to maintain.
Gummy eyes crack open a slit as Mugwort does an 'internal check' to see if he is still Mugwort.
[ PERCEPTION:15 ]
Same old body; same old pains... it's all good. Stretching like a swamp cat with the ocassional moan and joint pop, he gathers himself up and grabs a nearby broom. WIth a bit of industry, he sweeps up his 'circles' until he has a goodly pile of salt, iron filings, and dirt. Carefully, he will sweep, scoop, and cajole the pile into one of his empty pouches which he then ties off and slips into his shoulder bag. 'Waste not; want not,' he thought. Mugwort knows of methods and processes which will allow him to seperate the components in his spare time.
Once done, he gathers his bag, mask, and random bits and goes outside to 'take care of the call to Nature'... which truly is a 'Call to Nature' as well as taking care of the body's urges. A good washing of hands, face, and behind the ears (he knows Mimzy will check sooner or later!), he enters the hut as the Sun creeps up and the swamp's chill burns off.
Mugwort and Kaelroc take care of their physical needs while Fon mimics the birds' chirps outside (few as they may be) to clear his mind. Mender emerges from his shell with an appetite. Eventually, each of you who makes your way into the dining area sees the following bundle of goods perched against the table:
A gnarled-looking broomstick which jitters...
...a large and yellowed parchment scroll...
...and a ribbon-tied basket of delicious-smelling meats, with a few pastries set aside for Kaelroc. An attached note reads:
Dear all, I was forced to leave before sunrise to carry out an errand. I hope these gifts compensate for my poor hosting! Wishing you luck, Griselda.
ps. if my broomstick is not returned here within the tri-month, I might reconsider my policy regarding friend-stewing.
Kaelroc excitedly secures the basket and slips it into the small bag around his waist and declares. "...foOD..."
Chuckling at the note and reads it aloud to all.
Best not let anything happen to that broom Mugwort, Griselda always did appear a bit attached to it for some reason. She caught me sweeping the floor with it and I was not fed for almost FOUR HOURS! Ranting around the house about how the squirrels rats outside had more magical sense then I.
Mugwort: you have never heard of a 'squirrel' before... there is certainly nothing of the kind here in the swamp. Perhaps Kaelroc is referring to rats.
The excited looking Mender would deflate a bit as he realized the delicious smelling goodies were not for him. He would then pull out a few leftover pieces of fish from their time at the inn and quickly gobble them up with a smile. "I'm going to take a quick bath outside... Then we can make our way towards the town. Maybe I could try to catch us some fish quick so we have something to sell since none of us have any coin. Otherwise we can always look for work once we are there if we need some coin."
Mender would then wipe the few remaining crumbs from his mouth before making his way outside. Once there he would mutter a few words in draconic once again as he cast shape water He would then create a fountain of water shooting up from the edge of the marsh. As the water sprayed upwards, he would remove his clothes and enter his swamp shower. While he was bathing, he would periodically cast change the color of the swampy water from the brownish-green to crystal clear... as he hoped to spot some impressive fish swimming around under the surface...
Your leftover fish is starting to smell and taste rather awful, although you stomach it. Bathing in the puddle outside Griselda's lair, you do not see any fish - perhaps because they have been scared away by your magical fountain, perhaps because this body of water is too small.

Hi there! I'm a Christian musician based in Canada :)
After his quick bath he would get dressed and shout back towards the house. "Anyone else need a quick bath?" Then if no one came he would throw the old fish out into a nearby bush and make his way back to the group. "So do we know how to get to town yet?"
Mugwort comes around the corner and sees Mender's water antics and decides to try again with this 'full body washing thing'. He drops his mask, bag and most of his clothing and walks resolutely into the water spout. Turning slowly he makes certain he is totally drenched and then walks back out.. to let the rising sun 'air dry' him before getting kitted up again.
"Fancy trick with that shell last night. Is it something it triggers or you?" Mugwort asks Mender as he wrings out a bit of cloth. "It seems like a nice way to 'disappear' except for the shell being left so exposed while you are misty."
Kaelroc, lays out an abundant amount of stable food rations on the table. He has traveled far before and knows to begins to to set a plan for himself for normal food rations. He takes the basket and divides everything into 3 categories, things that won't last long, things that will last a week or so, and the meats that will last awhile.
Mender, don't eat that fish! *Yuk* We have to ration our food, the journey may be long, some of these pastries need to be eaten first. He divides 5 portions of the least shelf stable and tells mender to hand 3 portions to the others and take one for himself. Also tell the others not to throw their food away, bring it back to me.
These pastries and meats will keep our spirits high and make our travel rations a little less dull.
He stuffs the rest back into the bag on his waist.
"Thanks! The shell used to belong to the Marid I free'd." The kobold would reply as he holds up the shell. "My book explained how it works. So once a day I can go in the shell. It is really nice inside. I can stay in there for only 6 hours right now.. but as I get better with using these powers, I think I can stay in there longer." He would then pause and stretch a bit, holding his lower back before looking at the shell a little closer. "Last night I fell asleep inside this thing and woke up back in the dining chair. Apparently I overstayed my welcome in the shell. It will be nice when I can stay in there all night. I even read that I can store things in there. The only problem is that once I put something in there I can't get it back out until the next day." Mender would then look up from the shell towards the goblin. "Sorry for rambling on about the shell... I just think it is pretty neat."
"Rambling is fine. And it IS a nice shell. I hope you figure out the magic of it. Seems like a very handy thing to have." Mugwort scratches his chin as he adjusts his mask. " I guess we should heed Kaelroc and pack up our food and water and get ready to move on. Have you seen Mimzy this morning?"
Mugwort goes back inside and into the pantry to see what he might fit into his shoulder bag.
Mimzy a bit of a lazy Fairy overslept but eventually woke up, quickly cleaned herself up a bit and went to look for her bo-hunk ask what was for breakfast...
"Maybe someday I'll figure out a way for you to come see it with me." The kobold would reply while collecting his things before heading back inside. "I haven't seen her yet but she probably slept the longest. it is her house so she probably slept the most soundly." Mender would reply walking into the hags den once again.
"I got rid of the fish Kaelroc... it smelled worse than it tasted." The kobold would report before dividing up the food as he was instructed. he would give Mimzy a wave when she fluttered her way into the room before turning to Fon and giving him a wave as well. "Good morning everyone."
