On the way back to their makeshift camp, Pict is quiet and contemplative, thinking about the journey ahead. After arriving, Pict sees the disarray of the campsite, and begins to scan the surroundings and the campsite for anything else that might be amiss.
Perception: 9
As he looks around, he addresses the rest of the group as well.
"Alright friends. I know we've only just met, but now we face a dangerous task together. I don't know about the rest of ye, but I don't trust whatever that creature back there is. We should proceed, but take care that we aren't doing the bidding of something truly malevolent. I'm particularly bothered by her mention of her 'sisters'. Sounds like a coven of hags to me. Nasty Fey, they are. And covens always have ulterior motives." He rubs his chin, thinking more about the conversation with the creature and pondering over what they should do next.
"That said, hunting down jackalwere wasn't exactly what I was preparin' for when I journeyed to these wilds in search of Fey. If we have the time, I'd like to meditate, so I might recenter myself on the task at hand."
OOC: I'd like to try to take a long rest so I can prepare different spells if that's okay with y'all.
He approaches Crassus next, with vial in hand. "Ye should hold onto this, dragonborn. It will fare better coating your blades than my staff I'd wager."
Crassus accepts the vial from Pict. "I'll make sure to put this to good use. Go ahead and meditate, we might as well take the time to get ready since the "dryad" said that the jackalweres only come out at night. That gives us the entire day to get rested, come up with a plan to take these things on, and make any preparations that need to be made before we go."

On their trip back to the camp Violetalso offers her vial to Erlan. "I'm not that good with this staff, so this might prove more valuable to you."
Seeing their camp in disarray she again takes out her book, flips through some pages looking for help inside. She mutters "Ok, tracks… clues… Dirigenza". A slight glow forms around her and she begins to carefully look around for clues or tracks. She lifts stones and investigates the damage done to the flora.
Investigation: 20
Guidance: 1
When she sees the others also looking for clues she offers helpful advice.
Can I help anyone with Guidance, or are we doing it simultaneously?
Contemplating Pictswords she adds "I have to agree something is not right with that 'Dryad'. Why the need for disguise?"
”you rest old man. But I think I’d rather search out a little while for the thieves before night fall. They could not have gotten too far.” I look over at Crassus. “Are you interested on spilling some blood?”
OOC: about a 4 hour search. That way I can get back and trance to trade out spells.
Erlan, if you want to look for clues, roll perception (as Violet already succeded on investigation and you're unlickely to discover more). If you want to try and track something, roll for survival, DC is 15 and 20. What you find will depend on which one will you pass. You can do both perception and survival.
Also, yes, you can cast guidance on anyone who decides not to rest and investigate further.
Violet looks around carefully, crawling near every bush that seemes disturbed. There's almost nothing, except for a large strand of brownish fur left on a spiky bramble branch. It appears it were animals who stole your gold. Well, in light of recent conversation, it were probably jackalweres, but finding tracks was never sorceresses forte. The pattern of the damaged branches suggests that two large animals, waist-height each (or one really fat) stumbled across the clearing you've made camp at, supposedly ran around here a moment, made a mess of things and left. Violet figured general direction of it run, but to track them one would need to read tracks.
Erlan readily drops to the ground, trying to make sense of tracks on it. Seems Violets suggestion is true - there are prints of two large animal paws with rather impressive claws. The Ranger is able to figure out the direction of their run. Where they left the crearing, he discovers a torn pouch, containing 6 gp - jacalweres must have dropped it.
I've added gold to Erlans inventory.
Also, do you want to track jacalweres, or would you rather stay?
Pict hears Erlan and nods in agreement. "Aye, I'll take a rest, and be ready at dusk to continue the hunt."
He then sits down on a soft patch of earth and closes his eyes, not sleeping, but concentrating inward and communing with the forest for the next few hours.
I walk a short distance into the woods to get away from the noise of the group. I fall into a trance state until my thoughts are gathered. I rejoin the group and watch over them waiting for day break.
The dusk fast approaches. Once againg the Witchwood filled with fright, but this time, it's different. No mysterious ligts, no illusions - only looming anticipation of an upcoming hunt. The jackalwere have not made their presence known, not yet and therefore, it falls to you to find them.
Jackalweres are not native to these parts, there's very little lore available on them. From what you know, they are crepuscular (mainly active during twilight) predators, mostly solitary. Sometimes they organize in pairs and small packs, but those are mostly transitory, as vicious nature of the shapeshifters makes them fight each other at the first sign of offense.
The group sits in the dark, whispering carefully and trying to decide on their next course of action. The are all well-rested, and both druid and the ranger are in their natural element, but there are only so much viable options...
1. You need to decide how are you planning to find them. There are several options I can see - Erlan can track them, Pict may have a spell to do the same, you might decide to set an ambush (just figure out what to draw them with), etc. I will not restrict your choices, and once you decide, I'll tell necessary roles and how it will all work.
2. Pict and Erlan are inspired. Mechanically, it means they gain advantabe on their roles (until the end of night). I'll mark it on character sheets.
“Seems we could track these jackalweres. I assume they are not very stealthy are would leave tracks. Seems we should try to trap these beasts rather than kill them outright. I can conjure a magical snare. I’d like to know what they know about this supposed dryad.”
"If you think you can track and trap these creatures, we should do so. Tell me, if I can help you in any way. Maybe I can find something inside my book about tracking werecreatures"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Pict rubbed his chin, refreshed now after his meditation.
"Hmm, well I'm not sure I'll be able to help much with tracking, lest we can find some agreeable animals in these woods that I might confer with, but once we find the beasts, I have a few spells that may help detain them, similar to our Elvish friend here."
Pict stood up, brushing some of the dirt from his trousers. "We should try to pick up the trail, now that we're up and runnin'"
At that, he began to investigate the campsite, looking for any tail that the jackalweres left behind.
Erlan can use survavil check with a bonus of 3 (thanks to Violets Guidance) in addition to all other bonuses to begin tracking. DC is 13, these creatures are not very subtle. You also would want to use the vials of silverwater the "dryad" gave you, unless you prefer to wait.
Snare is not particularly helpful in combat, so if you want to use that tactics, you will need to lay it down and them lure the jacalweres in it somehow. You don't have anything edible that they would like (they have already rummaged through your belongings), except for yourselves.
Crassus will definitely need a vial, since he is the only member of the party that doesn't have the ability to cast spells or do anything magical.
