Moneo picks through his the pockets of his vest, since he isn’t wearing pants, and coming up empty handed looks to the squirrel and says, “Sorry buddy… no acorns…” He then heads over to the smiling trees, looks around happily, presents his ticket to be punched, and gets ready to ride on a dragonfly, hopefully to scout around the carnival a bit.
The dragonflies fly by default in a figure of 8 around the carnival. You can try and make it follow a route of your choosing if you wish (make an animal hanling check if so).
A bit more exposition happens as you fly, however I will post that tomorrow when hopefully more people have posted.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Animal Handling 5 Not really trying to fly anywhere specific. Just looking around, enjoying the sites, and as always, keeping an eye out for anything interesting, and/or the talking bird. Perception 21
Barreknar walks over to the tree "uhhh did you want something? Do you know where the big prises are?" He holds our a piece of candy to the squirrel.
Scared and excited to fly, especially doing so at his full size. Too nervous about falling or doing something wrong. Barreknar will just do the figure 8's. (I think that's his forth ticket punch? Probably should consider slowing down spending tickets as they are only in hour 2 i think)
Barreknar you get no answer about prizes, but the squirrel does thank you in common.
As you all take off there is a scream as a dragonfly takes off before the elderly rider was strapped in, leading him dangling by his leg. Moneo is able to steer off the standard course and rescue him (if he wishes). The other two of you are stuck on the figure of 8 so can only observe. Moneo and Revelry do both see a Kenku sneak off into the crowd, heading in the direction of the Mermaid Lake.
Catching the old man saying, "Whoa there! I gotchu! These things are tough to control yeah? A bit too many wings. Here, I'll help guide us back to the ground." He then flies back towards the start, leading the other dragonfly. Once at the ground he looks back to his companions and says, "Did you guys see that?! I almost did a loop pulling that old man back up!" Clearly quite proud of himself, adding, "Oh! And I think I saw a kenku! Looked like he was headed towards the Mermaid Lake! Do you think we have time before the show to see if we can catch up to him?"
Dravos replies to Moneo, "Hmm, I'm not sure if we have the time before the big show. I think we have to decide whether to go after the kenku and risk missing the start of the show, or just head straight to the show now."

"We still have like 40 min.."Moneo says looking up at a clock. "I'm gonna run and see if I can find the bird. If I don't see anything soon I'll head to the Big Top."Moneo then dashes off towards the mermaid village, happy for the others to follow, but will go alone. And as promised, he will keep a good watch on the time to ensure he won't miss the Show.
Barreknar isn't the fastest and a nit of a nervous sort and really does want to miss the big show. "Uhh, I think I will make sure we get good seats at the big show and will make my way there."
“I’ll help you Moneo! We’re both fast enough to go there and back to the big top!” Said Revelry as he plops down the dragonfly and follows Moneo to the mermaid village.
You split the party up. Two of you head to the big top. Entry is free, and there is always an act going on, even when it isn't the main events. It is starting to fill up more but you are able to find decent enough seats. Sounds seems magically projected around so hearing is never an issue, it is all about having the best sight.
Currently, there is a goblin juggler who is catching any tiny objects thrown at her by the crowd and juggling with them. She currently has 5 items. "Anyone else got anything to add to the mix? Not too large or it will not fit my small hands. My record is 7 at once so let's make it 8 today! I can't guarantee you will get your items back though" and at this, someone throws a shoe which gets caught and joins the rest of the juggled objects.
The other half the party walk to the mermaid. Mist gathers at the banks of a shimmering lake. Near its center, a mermaid lounges in a giant bowl, singing a glorious, haunting song that captivates spectators on the lakeshore. In response, the lake water coalesces into magical sculptures that whirl around her as she performs. As she sings, you hear different people start heckling. After 3 such heckles, she leaps out of the bowl and swims downriver. The growing audience all gasp and look upset or agitated, and the whole atmosphere of the carnival gets a little more gloomy.
Mood: 3
Moneo, you are able to make out that the Kenku you followed is actually all 3 hecklers. You saw them disguise themselves and move places each time. She tries to sneak off which takes her right into your path, and as she doesn't know you are on to her, it makes stopping her a walk in the park carnival.
((I'd like to quickly try to deal with the hecklers before chasing after the Kenku))
Arriving and seeing an acutal mermaid perform, Moneo takes a second to appreciate how rare this is before noticing the hecklers. Knowing how hard it is to stand on a stage Moneo looks to the heckler who started things and says, pen in hand "Heckling a performance is a sad, yet somehow, laughable matter." Waving his pen towards the heckler, he casts Hideous Laughter, hoping to stop the heckling before it gets too bad ((wis DC 14. If they pass, he'll say 'no'! and cast silvery barbs hoping to ensure that the spell lands.
Sorry if it wasn't clear, the hecklers are the Kenku. By the time you go to cast it, the heckler is no more. You catch them using disguise self to change appearance between the hecklers. (if you use the spell on the kenku instead, let me know and I'll roll)
ah ha. ok. Got it. sorry... looking back it was clear. I was between classes. My bad.
Let's go ahead and keep it the same as I had above, and yeah, targeting the Kenku. If possible before the mermaid gave up hope and ran away. You can say when I could determine that the Kenku was doing all the heckling. Maybe after the second?
Revelry is enjoying the singing and sad when the mermaid stops. When Moneo catches the kenku, Revelry prepares to tackle her if Moneo’s spells doesnt land.
Barreknar will try to muscle his way to a good viewing area and make some space for the others when they arrive. He turns to Dravos, "Uhh, think we should make room for another if they bring back the kenku with them?" Hearing the call for extra juggling objects, Barreknar tosses a dagger he keeps in his boot to add a bit of excitement to the act.

Revelry would like to use the height advantage to spot the kenku in question.
