Entry deadline is 6:00 Friday (so, in about 2 hours). I'll make my decisions on who gets in over the evening in possibly into tomorrow, then we'll start playing most likely Monday or Tuesday.

After that, @Mister_Whisker will review the applications, pick a group that he thinks will work well together, and then create a new campaign thread for that group.  (See also the FAQ post in the Play-by-Post forum.)  Based on previous experience, there's often a few days between when the character submissions are due and when the game starts.

Brief backstory (including how you came into possession of your cursed legendary magic item):

Ixsas is a pilgrim from a distant land (near Chult?).  He was abandoned at a temple as an infant, and he was raised there, eventually becoming an initiate of the faith.  His temple worships a strange god of fire and light.  They seek to bring the 

But then just a few months ago, a fevered adventurer stumbled out of the jungle, bringing with him a crooked staff.  Ixsas helped to care for the man, but he was too injured and too sick to save even with the Healing Fire.  Before he died, the man's delirium cleared.  Ixsas was the only one tending to him, and the man finally sounded clear-headed.  Ixsas hoped that the man had "turned the corner" and would finally be able to heal.  But the man beckoned Ixsas closer.  He grabbed Ixsas's wrist with a grip like a vice, and he warned of powerful magics, fiends from the Nine Hells, and a curse that could cause Toril to be overrun with fiends.  He wouldn't let go until Ixsas made a sacred oath to see that the staff was destroyed or that its curse was removed.  Satisfied, the man released Ixsas's wrist and laid back on his bed.

Ixsas ran to tell the head healer about the man's progress, but when they got back to the room, the man had already died.  After much prayer and consulting the head of his order, it was determined that Ixsas should take the staff on a pilgrimage to other holy sites across the land, seeking information about this staff and how to prevent the catastrophe that the man warned them of.
