You remember that a property of the gate is that, when you speak the name of a specific creature, you can draw it to you by force as long as you are on another plane of existence when you cast the spell. If you can discover Firion's full name, you could, at least in theory, force him to fight you by himself in any location of your choosing. The biggest hurdle to overcome is that you don't know for sure that Firion is his full name... or even his real name.

"By the way," it occurs to Duwamilly, while planning "a property of the Gate is that, when you speak the name of a specific creature, you can draw it to you by force as long as you are on another plane of existence when you cast the spell. The biggest hurdle to overcome is that we don't know for sure that Firion is the scamp's full name... or even his real name. We should probably find a way to ask one of the members of his family..."
Yeah, only Duwamilly put it together and realized the best way to deal with Firion without the rest of the cultists there to get in the way. Of course, she also correctly identified the biggest issue, which is making certain that you know Firion's true name.
There are a few ways you could try to find it:
1) Go to Firion's kingdom undercover and try to convince/intimidate someone into telling you the true name of their king (and hoping against hope that they actually know it)
2) Duwamilly briefly met a gnome who apparently knew Firion before he became the king of Ustrad.
3) Try to beat the information out of a cultist. Lord Akkron, of course, has already used speak with dead on several deceased cultists after the battle and determined that none of them know anything that you didn't already know about that.
4) Any other ideas you might have; it's entirely possible that you could think of something that I have not.
And of course, you could use multiple methods if the first one you try doesn't work. So, what would the party like to do?

"I don't know, Zander, honey..." Duwamilly is doubtful "If the super-scamp took the trouble to assume a pseudonym to hide his real name, there won't be many Cultists to whom he will have revealed it... What reason would he have had for this? We would need a Cultist he had full trust in – and even so, if he were being particularly cautious he wouldn't necessarily reveal it to him unless he had to".
"But, you know what?" the ex-preceptor suddenly seems struck by an idea "I briefly met a gnome who apparently knew Firion before he became the king of Ustrad... If the scamp wasn't yet particularly powerful at that time, he might not have hidden his real name with equal zeal... We could go and meet this gnome, as a first attempt - and if he doesn't know anything, try something different".
"However, if we were forced to try something different, in my opinion the only way to be safe is to ask the relatives of the overpowered scamp, who he imprisoned" the gnome cleric points out. "It would probably be difficult to communicate with one of them... but if we could, a relative would certainly know the real name - and certainly wouldn't be too hassled to reveal it to us, considering what we need it for!"
Returning from the tavern to hear what Milly is suggesting, the red-haired half-elf nods. "If the gnome you mentioned is easy to find and likely to cooperate I suggest we start there." She says plainly, eager to get going now, patience with exensive planning was never her forte.
Cal will say, "I would agree with going with the easiest method, which would be the gnome friend then we can go after a cultist if we need more information."
"Like you always say," Delvindra answers Duwamilly, "violence is a loss for everyone. If we can ask a friend instead of interrogating an enemy, that's the path we should follow."
Since the majority of the ex-accused are at least in agreement on interrogating the gnome as a first attempt, Duwamilly is ready to bring everyone to him with the tried and tested planar double trip method (first we all go somewhere interesting in a another dimension, then from there we reach the probable location of the gnome on the Prime Material Plane).
[[ OOC: @DM: The gnome you mentioned was one of those from Garl Glittergold's temple near Tormere? If so - or if Duwamilly knows where to find the gnome anyway - I think you can directly go ahead and narrate our visit to him... ]]
[[OOC: Yes, I am referring to the gnome from the Garl Glittergold temple near Tormere in post #449]]
Duwamilly, as usual, does her double-gate method of transportation, burning two charges from her cube. The party appears in front of a bunch of very surprised priests of Garl Glittergold.
"Hello there," a middle-aged gnomish man says with a friendly smile. "Where did you come from? Usually visitors simply come up the road, rather than appear from thin air... but we certainly welcome you all the same! Please, please, come inside and tell us all about yourselves and how you have come to share fellowship with us! We welcome you and wish the joy of Garl Glittergold for you all!"

Stepping into the temple of Garl Glittergold, the young red-haired half-elf feels a bit out of place, deciding to step outside to rest in the green grass in a nearby meadow as Milly no doubt will be able to handle the interview.
"Hey, it's me! Xana 'Stormbringer' Tauranty Esterwll 'Wildrider' Munfrida Iorla Duwamilly 'Planerunner' of clan Gerinell!" the gnome cleric introduces herself cheerfully, happy to see faces she already knows - and to get to know those who are still unknown to her "I stopped by some time ago, for that little thing about the curse and that scamp Firion who wanted to wake up the Great (and black) Wyrm Sserah 'One Who Sleeps' Nightsbane! We came from the Feywild, because we needed to move quickly from Shaded Isle... Do you know that planar travel is very unstable there? Oh, but I digress... Anyway that's why we didn't use a conventional route but appeared like this! Anyway, we bring great news! You know what? Thanks to the help of our wonderful Garl Glittergold, my friends and I managed to prevent that disaster! 'One Who Sleeps' won't have any need to lose her nickname anytime soon!"
"The super-scamp must be tearing his hair out with anger!" Duwamilly giggles "No one like our Sire knows how to prank those who deserve it! Ohhhhh and you know? While I was at it, I even pranked a powerful Kurtulmak kobold follower! Powerful, but not too smart... just like his idol! Oh, but I digress... I mean, not that they aren't important and fun things - in fact I'll tell you all about them later!"
"But now we urgently need to play the definitive prank at the overpowered scamp!" the ex-preceptor gets to the point "And we thought we'd let you be part of this!" the brown eyes dilate beyond belief with excitement "After all, who but my companions in faith and trickery could be better suited for that? Your task is simple, but fundamental! You must help us discover the real name of the scamp Firion! Which could also be 'Firion', ok, I know, but we suspect that name to be just a pseudonym... while to prank him for good once and for all we must be sure we know his real name".
"The last time I was here, I remember one of you... an elderly gnome..." Duwamilly looks around "he was for a time part of King Guoren's court (King Guoren is the father of the scamp Firion)... he will surely know what name King Guoren had given to his seventh son!"
Delvindra stands near the entrance with muscles tensed and her tail tightly wound around her leg. Try as she might, she simply can not think of a joke that might make a suitable offering to Garl Glittergold...or any jokes for that matter.
Seeing Yasmina slip away, the Tiefling breaths a sigh of relief and discretely follows the red-haired Half-Elf.
"Do you think Milly will be able to find what we're looking for?"
"Well, I am no expert in the arcane, or any other area of knowledge for that matter, but if everyone who knew Firion in his earlier days would have this power over him I'm a bit surprised the lich hasn't tried this earlier. I would be just happy if we can get what we came here for though, I know facing the mad archmage could cost us our lives but I still feel like I want to get this over with."The red-haired half-elf says with a weak smile, starting to walk with the tiefling. "Never had much patience." She adds with a grin.
Meanwhile Lord Amir patiently remains at the ex-preceptor's side, unclear if he simply wants to keep a protective eye over her or if he hopes this shrine of sparkling wit will offer him more hilarious stories.
"Patience is overrated,"the Tiefling responds as she looks down with a furrowed brow.
"All those years I was patiently waiting in the monastery...for what? For my life to start?"
She looks up, her golden eyes finding the Half-Elf's amber ones as she gives Yasmina a smile, "now that it finally has, I have no intention of putting it on hold for Firion or giving it up without a fight."
She gives a cocky smirk and a playful flick of her tail.
"In fact, I think it's well past time we stop worrying about Firion and let him start worrying about us."
